The year is 1991, London. A girl called "Carol" plunges into the forest with courage, where the devil "Gigantica" hides waiting to recapture the sound. She does not know the countless wicked "Rydah" are waiting...

Carol was originally a novel written by KINE Naoto (木根 尚登), the guitarist of TM Network (aka TMN), a very famous J-pop band. The story was made into a one-shot OAV featuring character designs by shoujo manga artist KOUGA Yun (高河 ゆん). The soundtrack, of course, was provided by TM Network.

Carol is the tale of a teenage girl whose life seems normal enough until she notices music disappearing from all around her, such as the sound of Big Ben, her father's cello-playing, and the concert of her favourite band, Gaball Screen. After hearing some mysterious voices, Carol is transported to a fantastic world where she must fight against the evil monsters who are stealing the music from Earth. She meets and is assisted by three dashing heroes: Clark, Tico, and Flash. These three are based on the members of TM Network. Clark is based on KOMURO Tetsuya (小室 哲哉), the producer, songwriter, and keyboardist of TMN. Tico, with his characteristic sunglasses, is based on KINE Naoto. And finally, Flash is based on UTSUNOMIYA Takashi (宇都宮 隆), the lead singer of TMN.

The name of the OVA is also the name of the ship that serves as both the home and the interstellar headquarters for an all-female band of notorious pirates. Thanks to a stowaway who hides himself aboard their ship following one of their raids, they learn of the ultimate treasure: the Gnosis (pronounced "G'Nohsis" in dialogue), an artifact reputedly from old Earth itself.

Unfortunately for them, the Gnosis happens to be in the hands of Emperor Batros, the brutal ruler of the planet Tres (pronounced "trez" in dialogue) who is executing great numbers of enemies, real or speculated, as a result of his military occupation of the neighbouring planet Uno. Armed with a little luck, a sniper gun that can shoot from orbit, and a technologically advanced ship, the crew of the Sol Bianca are about to make a run for the greatest prize of all.

An ancient evil has awakened. According to legend, three dragons shall re-emerge from the Earth to wreak havoc upon the land. Preying upon the weak-willed, the dragon spirits grow stronger as they devour the souls of their chosen hosts. Only the Warrior God Susanoo can fulfil the ancient prophesy and defeat the growing evil.

Unpopular in school and tormented by her classmates, Terumi makes an offering at the accursed Shrine of the Eight-headed Dragon, hoping that the gods will answer her prayers: to become more popular. But the evil dragon spirit that was bound to the shrine possesses her body — granting her wish and leaving a trail of student bodies in its wake.

Meanwhile, Terumi's friend, Koichi, has been plagued by nightmares of death and destruction. His only key to these visions — a mysterious priestess and a supposedly mythical battle between a nearly forgotten warrior god and a horde of evil dragons.

According to the ancient prophesies, Koichi must accept the power of the long-dormant warrior god, Susanoo — or Terumi will be lost forever and the dragons will prey upon mankind once more...

In 1990, Bandai produced the 4 episode OVA series SD Gundam Gaiden. Directed by Tetsuro Amino (Macross 7, SD Gundam's Counterattack), this series is set in the medieval fantasy world Suda Doaka. Once again, popular Gundam characters such as Amuro Ray and Char Aznable are featured in the series, along with fantasy-styled versions of well-known mobile suits. In this series, the heroic Knight Gundam and his companions must protect Suda Doaka from the evils of Satan Gundam and Sieg Zeon. Much of the series is set in the Kingdom of Lacroa, which is featured in several SD productions, including the 2003 TV series SD Gundam Force. As is the case with all the older SD productions, SD Gundam Gaiden isn't available in the U.S.

All of the Knights are free-thinking mechas except for King Sccasher which is piloted by Lamuness. Opposing Lamuness is Don Harumage and his minions Da Cider and Lesuka. Later, Lesuka and Da Cider sort of defect to the good guys. Da Cider also tells really bad puns (DAJARE). A fun giant-robot series. * Based on Flight of the White Wolf by Mel Ellis.

A gray wolf raised on a farm kills the family dog, and to save him from being destroyed, a boy named Lasset makes a trek through the wilderness with the wolf to a wilderness sanctuary 300 miles to the north. The BGM in the film consists entirely of Dvorak's Serenade for Strings, making it perhaps the only anime since Gauche the Cellist to make use of a single piece of classical music as the soundtrack. The plot of the film is simple and the outcome obvious, but the atmosphere of the film is genuine, and it is very moving in parts thanks to Dvorak's music (which is scored entirely for the most emotional of the instrument groups, the strings). This is a straightforward drama about the friendship between a boy and his wolf, and it pushes all the buttons you'd expect, but it's very enjoyable despite all that.
