Strong Second Half Leads Women's Soccer to 3-0 Victory Over Elizabethtown in Landmark Opener

SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton women's soccer team scored three goals in the second half to earn a 3-0 win over Elizabethtown in the Landmark Conference opener at Weiss Field on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • The Royals out shot ETown 10-0 in the opening half but weren't able to get on the board. 
  • Graduate Student Niamh Healy scored the first goal of the game in the 49th minute. Junior Morgan Griffin ripped a shot at the ETown goalkeeper and Healy was there for the rebound to make it 1-0 in favor of Scranton. 
  • Sophomore Alexis Ocasio found classmate Jenna Borelli on a perfectly waited pass over the ETown back line and Borelli buried her shot past the Blue Jays' keeper to give Scranton a 2-0 lead in the 72nd minute. 
  • Graduate student Mary Haggerty made it 3-0 in the 84th minute as she scored off a dish from freshman Molly Martys. 
Top Performers
  • Healy picked up her seventh goal of the season which leads the conference.
  • Haggerty notched her third goal of the year. 
  • Borelli scored her second goal of the season.
  • Senior goalkeeper Nicole Olson recorded her fourth consecutive shutout and seventh of the year.

  • Scranton held a 29-1 advantage in shots and a 9-0 edge in corner kicks.
