🤝 Representing the industrial minerals sector, IMA-Europe took part in Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee for the Extractive Industries (SSDCEI) in Brussels — a platform bringing together industry and worker representatives to inform EU policy on this strategic sector. Our Director of Health & Safety, Lumen Florence, and Health & Safety Adviser, Louis Hody, contributed to discussions on how raw materials — including industrial minerals — are essential to Europe’s green and digital transitions, resilience, and strategic autonomy. 🛠️🌍 👷♀️ The SSDCEI plays a crucial role in ensuring that the voices of those working in the extractive industries are heard in shaping the future of EU policy. 🙏 Thank you to all who participated and contributed to the success of the meeting. As a recognised social partner at EU level, Aggregates Europe - UEPG attended today's Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee for the extractive industries (SSDCEI) in Brussels. Secretary General Dirk Fincke stated that #aggregates and other essential raw materials would need to be urgently addressed by the European Commission since the drastically changing geopolitical context requires massive amounts of all raw materials. Waiting for some essential raw materials to become #critical is no option. EU member states and their industries need all the flexibility from the European Commission - as announced by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen - to achieve the EU Green Deal objectives and to ensure a steady supply of all raw materials needed for the transition and the defense of Europe. 👏 Congratulations to the Committee Chair Jean-Pierre Damm and Vice-Chair Andy Price and to Ettore Bucci and Lumen Florence for the great organisation of the meeting.
