Interviewing the Legends: Rock Stars & Celebs

Hello once again everyone I’m your host Ray Shasho and welcome to another edition of Interviewing the Legends.

Steve Luongo has produced, performed, and recorded with several well-known artists including Leslie West of Mountain, Cream bassist Jack Bruce, Eddie Money, Alan Parsons, Todd Rundgren, Heart's Ann Wilson, Ritchie Blackmore, Mark Farner, Joe Walsh, Billy Squier. The most prolific and significant of all his work was with John Entwistle, best known as the iconic bass guitarist for The Who. The two musicians became the best of friends. Luongo produced, performed, co-wrote, and toured with The John Entwistle Band until Entwistle's death in 2002. Their last live performance together was in Japan during the A Walk Down Abbey Road tour. Later that year he was invited by The Who and Entwistle's family to write and read the eulogy at Entwistle's memorial service in London.

In 2007, Luongo served as producer and composer for a studio band he created with AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams, in which Williams recruited frontman Brian Johnson as the vocalist. The project later known as Forklift gave birth to 7 tracks. "Chain Gang on the Road" was the only track offered by the quartet and was briefly available for a free download during a run of US tour dates in 2007.

In 2012 Luongo began a musical partnership with Cheap Trick vocalist Robin Zander by forming The Robin Zander Band. Zander was among the first to be asked to appear in Luongo's documentary film An Ox's Tale - The John Entwistle Story about the late John Entwistle. John Entwistle: An Ox Tale

The John Entwistle Story

Documentary

In 1964, The Who became one of the key figures of the British Invasion, taking the American music scene by storm. While Roger Daltrey, Pete Townsend and Keith Moon took the spotlight with their on-stage antics, John Entwistle, dubbed "The Quiet One," stood in the shadows... poised to become the biggest bass player in rock and roll. With his arena-rock days behind him, Entwistle continued down his own path, finding great musical freedom with the John Entwistle Band. In 2002, after years of touring his solo project, Entwistle couldn't resist the lure of bringing back one of the greatest bands in rock and roll history. Tragically, plans for The Who's North American Reunion Tour were cut short when on the eve of the first show John was found dead in his Las Vegas hotel room. "The Ox," as Entwistle was affectionately known, left behind many fans and several unfinished projects. With his passing, the world lost a musical legend, dubbed Guitar Magazine's "Bassist of the Millennium." Narrated by Peter Frampton, John Entwistle: An Ox's Tale covers the life of John Entwistle, from his first public performance at the age of 14 to his feelings about The Who's most recent reunion. This film contains the last footage and interviews ever shot with Entwistle, offering the one chance for fans to...

Vanilla Fudge Release Ingenious Interpretations of Zeppelin Music!

Hello once again everyone I’m your host Ray Shasho and welcome to another edition of Interviewing the Legends.

Vanilla Fudge was one of the first American groups to infuse psychedelia into a heavy rock sound to create “psychedelic symphonic rock” an eclectic genre which would, among its many off shoots, eventually morph into heavy metal.

Although, at first, the band did not record original material, they were best known for their dramatic heavy, slowed-down arrangements of contemporary pop songs which they developed into works of epic proportion.

Vanilla Fudge celebrated their 50th year Anniversary in 2017 and are still rocking the world in the current day with one of their greatest hits 'You Keep Me Hanging On' featured in the Quentin Tarantino movie 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.'

Please welcome lead vocalist, keyboardist, composer, and arranger for classic rock legends Vanilla Fudge... MARK STEIN to Interviewing the Legends ...

The last time chatted was in March of 2018... Spirit of 67 Vanilla Fudge and Mark Stein Project.

QUESTION: I just had on Arthur Brown who is 80 now. He mentioned Vanilla Fudge ... I told Arthur that he and Vanilla Fudge don’t seem to age!

Alan Parsons Talks 'From The New World' Exclusive Interview!

Hello once again everyone I’m your host Ray Shasho and welcome to another edition of Interviewing the Legends.

Alan Parsons worked as assistant engineer on the last two albums by The Beatles and after he qualified as a fully-fledged recording engineer, he went on to work with Paul McCartney and The Hollies among many others. But it was his contribution as engineer on Pink Floyd’s classic The Dark Side Of The Moon that really got him world attention. That soon led to striking successes as a producer – notably with Pilot’s Magic, John Miles’ Highfly and Music and Steve Harley’s (Come Up And See Me) Make Me Smile. He also produced the hugely successful Year Of The Cat album with Al Stewart and two albums with American prog rock band Ambrosia.

In 1975 he met Eric Woolfson who not only became his manager but joined forces with Alan as a songwriting and performing partner for what became known as The Alan Parsons Project and a string of hit albums.

Parson’s most recent studio release is entitled From the New World and features the classic sounds Parsons has become known for in his impressive career, with progressive, symphonic, and classic rock elements all touched upon on this stunning album. Guest appearances from the likes of renowned guitarist and singer Joe Bonamassa, Tommy Shaw of Styx, vocalist David Pack (Ambrosia), and vocalist James Durbin add wonderful atmosphere to the stunning performances by Alan and his incredible backing band.
