There are five common mistakes almost every organization makes at some point in their sales strategy and execution. Which of these traps is your team falling into? 1️⃣ Over-indexing on your CRM tech stack  🚫 Don’t make this mistake: Delegate CRM design, selection and implementation fully to the IT department. ✅ Do this instead: As a business person, lead requirements gathering and position yourself as the business owner of the platform.  You prioritize features, you set a roadmap, and you articulate how the CRM enables your overall GTM approach. 2️⃣ Building sales compensation plans in a silo 🚫 Don’t make this mistake: “Set it and forget it.” ✅ Do this instead: Make your sales compensation structure as innovative and dynamic as your products. The old school methods of sales comp aren't what's working anymore! 3️⃣ Inadequate focus on end-to-end Customer Value Delivery  🚫 Don’t make this mistake: Make customer experience one of many metrics where it doesn’t take a primary role. ✅ Do this instead: Orient your entire GTM and sales motion around end-to-end customer value delivery. 4️⃣ Outdated sales training approach  🚫 Don’t make this mistake: Underinvest and under focus in sales training that’s done on an infrequent basis. ✅ Do this instead: Transform your sales training to be highly sought after, led by top talent, and constantly evolving to make the sales team incredible. 5️⃣ Weak feedback loop with product & engineering teams 🚫 Don’t make this mistake: Allow organizational silos to cause disconnects between sales and product/technology. ✅ Do this instead: Get your sales, product and engineering people together ALL THE TIME;  organizational silos should not determine your level of collaboration! The most difficult part of the solution for all these is that it cannot be done alone by the sales team, or the sales ops team, or the sales enablement team, or the product team, or the engineering team, or the finance team. These are massively cross-functional efforts. Is your company positioned to collaborate across company silos and avoid these mistakes?
