NASHVILLE, Tenn. — No. 13 Vanderbilt women’s tennis eyes a Senior Day victory against No. 9 Tennessee in the final regular season home match at the Lummis Tennis Center.
No. 48-ranked junior Bridget Stammel and senior Amy Stevens each bring five-match win streaks into Sunday’s contest. It is the longest stretch for Stevens this season. Freshman Sophia Webster has won back-to-back matches, including yesterday’s match clincher over Kentucky at No. 4 singles. Both No. 17-ranked senior Célia-Belle Mohr and No. 81-ranked sophomore Valeria Ray ended losing skids against the Wildcats. Vanderbilt is 2-2 against top-10 opponents this season, including a flawless 2-0 record at home.
Tennessee comes to Nashville off a 4-1 road win against Missouri. The Volunteers sit even with the Dores at 10-4 in the conference. Five total teams, including Auburn, LSU and Oklahoma, come into the final regular season match with the same SEC record. Tennessee owns a 36-27 advantage in the all-time series and has notched victories in the last three meetings. The Dores’ last home win against the Vols came in 2018. Elza Tomase leads Tennessee in the ITA singles rankings at No. 6 with a 14-6 dual match record at the No. 1 position. No. 36 Catherine Aulia and No. 87 Leyla Britez Risso round out the list of ranked Volunteers in singles play. Aulia and Britez Risso make up the No. 36-ranked doubles pairing.
