Jet2 passengers on a flight from Belfast International Airport to the Canary Islands have been left startled after a man began screaming about “the Lord Jesus” while being restrained in the cabin.

The shocking incident on board flight LS307 to Fuerteventura on March 1 was captured on video and footage has gone viral on TikTok with over 200,000 views and counting.

It shows a man shouting loudly from his seat while other passengers gathered around to try to intervene and calm him down.

'Get off,' the man appears to tell them.

One fellow passenger can be heard reminding the man that he is “on a plane”.

However the disruptive passenger disregarded the advice and went on to let out a disturbing scream after shouting out “you have to fasten your seatbelt... in the Lord of Jesus [sic]”.

Airline staff have been praised for going “above and beyond” to stop the situation descending even further into chaos.

“This is not the half of it,” the caption on the social media post states.

“These crew members went above and beyond to deal with this and these guys held him down.

"This lasted an hour and kids were beside him… these crew members were outstanding."

The video appears to show other passengers helping to restrain the man with a staff member nearby.

A number of seats near where the disturbance was unfolding were unoccupied.

According to TikTok user who shared the footage the incident “lasted an hour and kids were beside him”

The clip has provoked strong responses with one woman claiming that her son was involved in pinning the unruly passenger down and ended up “covered in blood [because] the man split his own head open!”

It’s unclear what caused the man to act out and no signs that he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, despite speculation online.

The TikTok user who posted the video slammed the outburst, which happened in front of children, as “disgraceful”.

Many users called on the culprit to be "banned from flying" while hundreds expressed outrage.

One person noted it was “hard enough flying without this happening" while another said "so frightening for all other passengers and crew."

Others described the footage as "scary" and "terrifying” while insisting affected passengers shouldn’t have to pay for the experience.

Jet2 has been contacted for comment.
