Arsenal were forced to share the spoils at Goodison Park as Everton came from behind to snatch a deserved draw. Leandro Trossard fired the Gunners ahead but Iliman Ndiaye equalised from the penalty spot after Jack Harrison was adjudged to have been fouled by Myles Lewis-Skelly. It had the feel of a dead rubber with neither side playing for anything substantial at this late stage of the campaign.

Mikel Arteta was forced to make changes with Jakub Kiwior coming in for the injured Gabriel Magalhaes in the centre of defence. Further forward, there was a rare league start for Raheem Sterling on the left flank. Leandro Trossard was given the nod up front, allowing Mikel Merino to revert to his natural midfield position.

Arsenal player ratings vs Everton

David Raya - 5

Looked more chaotic than usual. Was too eager to rush out of his goal and needed his defenders to bail him out on a couple of occasions. Never came close to saving Ndiaye's penalty, with the Everton man sending him the wrong way.

Ben White - 6

Managed to get himself into good attacking positions with some clever overlapping runs. Did well in defence for the most part and will be hoping to battle Jurrien Timber for a starting spot over the coming weeks.

William Saliba - 7

Had the answers to the majority of questions asked of him by Everton's forwards. Needed to lead by example with Kiwior alongside him and did exactly that. By no means his strongest display in an Arsenal shirt, but it was good enough.

Jakub Kiwior - 7

Made only his third league start of the campaign, replacing the injured Gabriel. Did his defensive duties well, chipping in with a few important blocks and some accurate passing. A solid performance given the circumstances.

Myles Lewis-Skelly - 6

Got himself up and down the pitch to help out at both ends, but was sometimes guilty of holding onto the ball for too long. Showed a lack of composure when he conceded the penalty. It was a debatable call but he gave the referee a decision to make.

Jorginho - 5

Was largely anonymous throughout. His main contribution was getting himself booked for dissent after the hosts were awarded their spot-kick. An entirely forgettable display.

Mikel Merino - 6

Was involved in a clash of heads with Jarrad Branthwaite but managed to carry on. Did much of the dirty work in the middle of the park. Narrowly missed the target with a bullet header in the closing stages.

Declan Rice - 6

Caused problems for Everton with his corner deliveries, putting them right on top of the goalkeeper. Covered plenty of ground, chipping in with attacking moves and rushing back to help out in defence.

Ethan Nwaneri - 6

Looked lively from the start and was always eager to get on the ball. Failed to have as much impact as he would have liked, though, with his end product lacking in the final third. Replaced for the second half.

Raheem Sterling - 5

Was the architect of Arsenal's opening goal, racing through the middle and finding Trossard with a simple pass. Didn't do much else apart from that one moment and struggled to get past his marker on too many occasions. Hooked at the break.

Leandro Trossard - 6

Was deployed as the lone striker and took his goal well, finding the bottom corner with a pinpoint finish. Had other chances to influence the result but was unable to find the killer ball or beat the goalkeeper himself.

Substitutes

Bukayo Saka - 6

Came on at half-time, replacing Nwaneri. Struggled to get involved as much as he would have wanted. Avoiding injury ahead of the midweek game against Real Madrid was the most important thing.

Gabriel Martinelli - 6

Was introduced for the second half in place of Sterling. Took a positive approach and tried hard to make things happen with Arsenal chasing a winner, but couldn't find the elusive breakthrough.

Jurrien Timber - 6

Moved into the right-back role on the hour mark with Ben White coming off. Did okay at both ends of the pitch without making a huge impact on proceedings.

Martin Odegaard - 6

Came on for the last 20 minutes in place of Jorginho. Missed a big chance to score the winner in the closing stages, firing wide with a first-time effort.

Kieran Tierney - 6

Got his chance in the final 15 minutes, replacing Lewis-Skelly. Caused problems with his long throws and accurate crossing but was unable to influence the final result.
