Regional Overview

1966: Montr�al Administrative Region created.
1987: The Administrative Regions of Laval, Laurentides, Lanaudi�re and Mont�r�gie are created out of Montr�al.

Counties (MRC): Until 2002, there was a single county-level organization called Communaut� urbaine de Montr�al. Since 2002, the city of Montreal has county competence.

Soci�t� de transport de Montr�al (STM) is the transit agency in the Montr�al area.
