A fun start to a new western adventure series! Set in 1874 California, on an unusual ranch with an orphanage and school. A mysterious old journal spurs on a hunt for lost treasure, bringing outlaws and peril to the peaceful homestead.

A cross over of characters from another series--The Lumber Baron's Daughters--this one features other members of the Hart family, and the newly arrived Mackenzie brothers. I liked Brody and his determination to bring his younger brothers home, learning how to be their guardian through trial and error. Ellie is a trooper, sweet but strong in her own way, finding her gifting as she helps out when needed.

The author does a good job of filling in the backstories so it is easy to follow. She has a knack for writing strong women with unique strengths, with just enough peril to make it tense and tempered with a bit of humor. I want to go back now and read the other series because the characters sound quite interesting.

Recommend to teens and older who enjoy a good clean western adventure romance. 4 stars

I really enjoyed this book! I was immediately hooked from the very beginning. There's runaways, intrigue, a mysterious treasure, and more.

The Hart family is amazing! They run Two Harts ranch with kindness and compassion. Ellie is one of my favorites. She's a little bit sassy, but she's compassionate, loving, and wise. Brody, I'll admit didn't impress me at first. However, after his past was revealed, his true heart was too. He genuinely loved and cared about his family. Lock is my favorite. Yes, he gets in trouble a lot. Yes, he worries people a lot. But he's just so passionate about his grandfather's treasure. I also share his love of maps and geography.

The love story is sweet. It's Ellie's idea to have Brody help out the ranch with his doctor skills. The more time they spend together, their affection for each other grows. I love that he calls her his treasure!

What a fun start to a new Mary Connealy series! An old journal, runaway boys, a treasure hunt, a pair of outlaws, a ranch that could easily become its own town… Whispers of Fortune is truly the epitome of a western adventure, and I adored it! There’s also lots of kissing (which I loved, of course) and some complicated family dynamics (which made for some really intriguing layers to explore). Fans of Connealy’s The Lumber Baron’s Daughters, particularly Inventions of the Heart, will recognize the setting of Two Harts Ranch and the Hart siblings who factor prominently in this new series, but if you haven’t read those books yet you’ll be fine starting with Whispers of Fortune.

It might sound a bit ‘on the nose’ to say that heroine Ellie Hart has a big heart, but she absolutely does. Along with an intelligent mind, a resilient spirit, an intrinsic generosity, and an engaging personality that makes her easy to befriend. In short, Brody MacKenzie can’t help but be immediately drawn to her (even if he does at first think she kidnapped his brothers) and neither can readers. Brody’s education as a doctor comes in handy at the sprawling ranch, and I really enjoyed his calm bedside manner as he tended to a variety of patients (more than you’d expect on one ranch, but this isn’t a typical ranch). This New York/Boston guy has a lot to learn about life in the California West though, making for some amusing fish-out-of-water adjustments. And his brothers! Oh they’re a lovable handful with their treasure-hunting dreams and their determination to redeem (and discover) their family legacy. Of course, where there’s a treasure to hunt, complications inevitably surface, and the several that crop up in this first leg of the hunt add some very intriguing layers that I’m eager to watch play out in the books to come.

Bottom Line: Nobody writes witty frontier romances like Mary Connealy, and Whispers of Fortune made me smile with its sweet-and-swoony romance, layered characters, and exciting search for a mysterious treasure. I also loved the intriguing foundation it set for the rest of the series, ensuring I’ll be counting down the days until book two releases (especially because it features Josh whom I found particularly swoony even though he wasn’t the focus of this novel). Not to mention that Two Harts Ranch and the California Wild West came alive under Connealy’s talent for setting a scene and made me want to book a trip there post haste, were such a thing possible. (Albeit a quick visit though…in winter… I need my air conditioning haha!) Another fun and madcap adventure from one of the masters!

I haven't read the other series some of the characters appear in (I would've, if I'd known), but I don't think it affected my reading too much. I did feel like I missed a bit of context, but as the book went on, it didn't seem to matter.

I'm a bit obsessed with Mary Connealy's books, every time she comes out with a new one I rush to listen to the audiobook, especially when it features Barbara McCulloh's amazing narration.

This time we have *drum roll* A TREASURE HUNT, some runaway (pretend) orphans, and a a lovely romance (was there ever any doubt?).

Brody and Ellie's first meeting was so iconic, it had me giggling. I gotta say that I wasn't really sure about him at first, but he grew on me. I loved him and Ellie together so much.

Most of the book is about the treasure hunt itself and searching for the boys, so it's as adventure filled as you can imagine. Lock and Thayne are probably my favourite characters, their shenanigans were so fun to follow, as was their bond with Brody.

Like any other Connealy book, there's lots of humour, and a good amount of faith content included. All in all, an excellent start to a new series, I can't wait for book two.

Runaway brothers, a treasure map, fortune hunters, reunited family, and a gentle romance in exciting post-Gold Rush California. Mary Connealy is settled in and writing strong frontier era slow-burn romance with inspirational themes and I’m there for it.

Whispers of Fortune is the series opener of the Golden State Treasure series with a tie-in with a previous series, The Lumber Baron’s Daughters. I hadn’t dipped into that series yet, but had no trouble starting in on this series though I will be getting back to that trilogy.

Whispers of Fortune opens on a funny, awkward meet-cute when a woman answers the pounding on the ranch house door nearly getting punched by the hand pounding and then letting her big, gruff brother assume the young Dr. Mackenzie looking for his runaway brothers had attacked her. From there, they sort out the misunderstanding on both sides to help the Mackenzie brothers sort out their family situation and whether to go for the treasure.

I loved that Brody Mackenzie is a new doctor and there were scenes with him and Ellie Hart working together to help his patients from Ellie’s family’s ranch and the orphanage school and training center they run there.

Whispers of Fortune focused on Brody’s family history and situation and Ellie’s backstory and current situation as she gets over a bad romance experience. Also, there was also a few other narratives happening even with the villains. A couple of these other threads didn’t entirely tie up at the end, but no surprise since this is only the first book in the series. However, with extra plot threads and narrators establishing the series world, there was a disjointed feeling to this story and the romance got a little short-shifted as a result.

I loved this historical setting of the California ranch post-Gold Rush and the beautiful mountains where the hunt for treasure happened. The treasure was tied in with early Spanish California exploration and history which was really neat. I’m eager to see where the series goes and enjoyed the hint that maybe big Josh Hart, the sailor turned rancher and the one-time orphaned orphan helper are going to get their story next. Something tells me there is more to come about the Cabrillo treasure and I’m there for it.

In the end, it was a satisfying start to a series with favorite buzz elements of ‘treasure hunt’ and ‘California history’ for me. The inspirational theme of true treasure vs. greed was the driving piece to a plot featuring family healing, finding yourself, and sweet romance. Recommend to Historical Romance and Inspirational Romance fans.

I rec'd an eARC via Netgalley and a finished copy via Bethany House Publishers and Austenprose to read in exchange for an honest review.

Mary Connealy, the Author of “Whispers of Fortune” has written a captivating, exciting and adventurous novel. The genres for this novel are Historical Fiction, Christian Fiction, Adventure, Mystery and Suspense and Romance. The dateline for the story takes place in 1875, mostly in California. The author describes her dramatic and colorful characters as complex, complicated, quirky, mischievous, and courageous. Some are greedy and calculating, and others are likable, relatable and giving. This is the first book in a planned series, but definitely is a stand alone. Two Hart Ranch in California is a working ranch and a safe haven for orphans. Ellie Hart and her family run the ranch, which provides teachers, food, clothing and shelter. One day, Brody MacKenzie, a young physician, arrives at Two Heart Ranch looking for his two mischievous brothers. The boys are safe and sound and have their grandfather’s journal which reveals some information about lost treasure. The boys feel that this treasure is in this vicinity.

The two brothers are fixated on this treasure, and seemed determined to run away again to find it. Brody has been helping patients at the ranch, and with Ellie and her brother Josh agree to try to find the truth and the possible treasure. There is a history of other people, who are looking for this treasure as well. Some of them are dangerous and have different schemes in mind. This is an edgy, intense, suspenseful book of adventure that I highly recommend for other readers. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Whispers of Fortune is a treasure mine of faith, adventure, and heart. Mary Connealy sets her story against the rugged backdrop of post-Gold Rush California, delivering a Christian Historical Romance that captivates, inspires, and tugs at your heartstrings. With themes of faith, freedom, forgiveness, and friendship, this story speaks directly to the soul.

The characters truly shine. Ellie Hart’s strength and resilience make her instantly relatable, while Brody MacKenzie’s transformation from desperation to divine dependence is beautifully crafted. Whether it’s the precious orphans stealing scenes or the heartfelt prayers grounding the story, every page feels alive with purpose.

Connealy’s gift for blending suspense, humor, and heart sparkles just as brightly as the treasure they’re chasing. From action-packed moments to tender reflections, the narrative pulses with a constant reminder that God is the ultimate source of peace, hope, and redemption.

If powerful heroines, thrilling adventures, and faith that lights up even the darkest moments captivate you, Whispers of Fortune will claim your heart. It’s an immersive journey filled with treasure hunts, prayers, desperation, and an unshakable Christian faith.

This story is a treasure hunt full of twists and turns. It was so fun to follow the MacKenzies on their adventure. I loved revisiting the Hart family from another one of Mary Connealy's series! I was so sad to reach the end of the book and know that I have to wait a few months to read the next installment!

Join another grand adventure from Mary Connealy. I highly recommend this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have wanted to read a Mary Connealy book ever since I saw her at a reader retreat about 2 years ago. I finally got my chance with this one, and now I'm ready for book 2 to come out!

While some of the conversations seemed a little abrupt at times, I loved the treasure aspect of it all. It was exciting and definitely kept me wanting more. There were a couple spots that had me laughing, though the epilogue felt a little bit like a placeholder. It didn't seem to flow as well as the rest of the story. But I'm undeniably invested in this series, and I'm just going to have to follow it to the end of the rainbow!

In Whispers of Fortune, Mary Connealy returns her readers to the historic western frontier of California, and the Hart family ranch in her new Golden State Treasure series. In The Lumber Baron's Daughters series which focused on the older Hart family members, who have cameos in Whispers of Fortune, this one focuses on the younger members of the Hart family and the newly arrived Mackenzie brothers. Connealy does give just enough background story of the older siblings that one can follow them without having read The Lumber Baron's Daughters series. However, it is the opinion of this reader that to get the most out of this new series, one needs to read The Lumber Baron's Daughters series first!

Connealy, introduces us to the two youngest members of the Hart family, Josh who is running the ranch while his older siblings are away on other duties and Ellie who is trying to find out what her unique strength is through trial and error in this story.

She also introduces us to Brody MacKenzie, a newly graduated doctor, who is searching for his younger brothers, Lock and Thayne, who ran away from home in search of treasure. He tracks them to the Hart Ranch where he is met at gunpoint by Ellie, and the adventure begins.

One thing I always love about reading stories by Mary Connealy is the bits of humor throughout. Lock and Thayne MacKenzie posing as two runaway orphans on a treasure hunt, stole the spotlight with their antics. Since this story centers around treasure Connealy reminds her readers that the true treasure is in heaven.

As a new series goes, the first book, Whispers of Fortune was a fairly good read. However, I personally felt a little lost in the beginning, like I had missed something, or maybe Whispers of Fortune wasn’t actually a new series but a continuation of an earlier series, which in a way it is. That is why I highly recommend reading The Lumber Baron's Daughters series first.

Woohoo! We get to catch up with some characters from another series! The Harts from The Lumber Baron’s Daughters own a ranch in California to benefit orphans. Teens Thayne and Lochlan MacKenzie ran away from New York on a quest to find a treasure that their grandfather never found. They end up on the Two Harts Ranch. Big brother Brody, a doctor, tracks them to the ranch and demands their release, but they do not want to give up the search.
This book had a lot of parts to keep up with but with the story spanning three books, I see the need for the plot to carry over with several sub plots and hints of more than one romance to take center stage in their own book.
The premise of a treasure map that was given to more than one family has all sorts of possibilities. Who is trustworthy? What exactly was the original agreement? The story certainly kept me guessing and it’s not over yet!
With her signature humor, solid faith thread, complex plot and sweet romance, Ms. Connealy has written another absorbing cowboy western to entertain us.

Whispers of Fortune by Mary Connealy is a historical novel set in 1875 in California. While the book had a thrilling beginning and a great premise, it failed to capture my attention.

Through the lens of Brody MacKenzie, a doctor who has been searching for his brothers, the author takes the reader on a search for treasure and a search for Brody’s brothers, who keep running away from the orphanage where he eventually finds them.

He meets Ellie Hart and her brother Josh, who have taken the boys in at Two Harts Ranch. When she finds out Brody is a doctor, she tries to convince him to stay, when he tells her repeatedly that he can’t. But his brothers are determined to follow a map in an old journal left by their grandfather to what they are convinced is a treasure and refuse to leave without searching for it.

When Brody puts his foot down, insisting they have to leave, they run away again. Much of the book is then spent on finding this treasure and describing how the journal was found. In fact, the information about the map and the treasure and Brody’s family is repeated so much, I lost interest.

Meanwhile, other side characters were in play. Tilda was looking for the runaway brothers, Thayne and Lock, that she was in charge of on the orphan train. I feel this character could have been left out of the book entirely as her story disrupted the flow of the book.

Amid this, without a hint of attraction between them, Brody suddenly kisses Ellie. This moment in the book was so awkward and unnatural that I thought I’d missed something. After that, any romance between Brody and Ellie seemed forced.

The villain in the story (Loyal) added some much needed excitement toward the end of the book and I appreciated how the author talked about storing up treasure in heaven instead of on earth.

I was disappointed at the abrupt ending because there were so many loose ends not addressed in the book, so it was nice to have the first chapter of the next book follow the epilogue.

We follow the adventures of Lock and Thayne MacKenzie two runaway “orphans “ in Whisper of Fortune. It turns out that they are not really orphans when their brother Brody shows up to claim them the school ran by the Hart family in California. The boys are following their grandfather’s journal to a treasure which they believe they are finally getting close to here at the Hart’s ranch. Ellie Hart refuses to allow Brody to ride away with his brothers until he can prove that he can take care of them. Turns out Brody is a Doctor who finds the Hart’s ranch desperately needs, however Brody has made a commitment to a doctor in Boston who he must go back to help. His brother are less than agreeable to go with him as they believe the treasure is so close. The adventures begin there and it turns out that the boys aren’t the only ones searching for the treasure and that’s where the danger begins. So come along and enjoy the journey to treasure and adventures.
I didn’t give this book a full five stars as I was really confused through my first read through because of some characters form The Lumber Baron’s Daughters series so I had to go back and read the series to get characters straight in my mind. If you haven’t read the series I don’t think you will be confused.
I received a ARC copy of this book from NetGalley and Baker House Publishing , however I was not required to leave a review and the content of this review is completely my own personal opinion and views of the book.

Mary Connealy has again written a story filled with romance, adventure, and characters to love. Whispers of Fortune was a wonderful start to a series that I know is going to become a favorite!

I enjoyed every minute that I spent immersed in this book. It was difficult to put the book down because I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next!

I loved the Hart family and everything they did at Two Harts Ranch. I found the storyline of their hard work to run the Two Harts Ranch and help children in need to be my favorite part of the story! I can’t wait to read more about the siblings and their stories in the rest of this series!

The romance was sweet in this one. I loved Ellie’s character so much. Brody, on the other hand, I wasn’t too fond of at first. As his story started to progress and we got to know more of who he really was, I started to like him more.

Mary Connealy did such a fantastic job with this one. If you love a book with adventure, twists and turns, romance, beautiful messages of faith, and characters that you’ll relate to and love, I recommend this book. My review can’t do this story enough justice!

Overall rating 3.5 stars. I was really confused on rabbit trail characters who are apparently part of a different series this author has written. That aside the story was very entertaining and the treasure hunting was quite the adventure. Really enjoyed the brother bonds and that the romance was light. I look forward to book 2 coming out later this year.

Whispers of Fortune is the first book in a new historical fiction series from Mary Connealy! Let me start by advising you to read the Lumber Baron's Daughter's series by this author BEFORE you go to this book. My brain was scrambling trying to place the dropping of names and hints of stories that I should know before I went "OHHHH!" and placed the other characters. This book picks up AFTER the conclusion of that series and includes characters briefly mentioned in that first series. The first book in that series is The Element of Love.

Now to this book. This one jumped to a lot of new narratives that kind of through me for a loop. I think maybe when it's in print it will be easier to follow. But because this one sets up a series, you go back and forth between five different characters narratives.

This one was a solid 4 stars. It wasn't AHHHMAZING. It was just a solid read. I actually like some of the author's earlier series more than these last ones. But Maybe that's just me. I feel like these characters are...well I can't even explain it. Shallow? No. Um. I don't know. They just aren't connecting to me lately.

Anyways--this book kicks off the beginning of a big treasure hunt that obviously will continue throughout the series. One thing about all the series she writes, some ends get tied up at the completion of a book while others are left to dangle to the next. :)

I liked the two brothers the best actually. Maybe because I have teenage boys of my own. ;)

3.5 stars. I was just in a hurry to read it because it wasn't just grabbing me or anything. but I'll do 4 stars for the sake of Goodreads.

*Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of the ARC to read. All opinions are 100% my own.

My thoughts: I always delight when a new "Mary Connealy" book comes off the press. Her books are set in the mid to far west of the United States during the early years the area was being settled. Connealy has a terrific sense of infusing her stories with light-hearted wit that brightens the reader's day.
In the first book of the "Golden State Treasure" series, Whispers of Fortune recounts the heart breaking stories prevalent of the period when back East families fell into the throes of poverty, children orphaned and sent West by orphanages to settle with other families, and mean-hearted culprits intent on illegal means to gain riches.

In Whispers of Fortune, the author weaves well loved characters of a prior series into the background as supporting cast. They are connected family with the owners of the Hart Ranch where much of Whispers of Fortune takes place.

I love the characters in this story and they are well developed by the author fleshed out so that you feel you know them yourself. Strong minded, well educated Brody is searching for his two missing younger brothers. I found the two younger boys (older teens actually) loveable and admirable for their ability to make their way from East to West in pursuit of an old dream of their deceased father and grandfather.

I look forward to reading more in this series and following new characters Mary Connealy has deftly woven into this book.

Mary Connealy's books are always ones I must read. I love the blend of faith, romance, and adventure with swoony heroes and strong women. I was delighted to discover this book takes us back to the Two Harts Ranch that was a part of The Lumber Baron's Daughters series. Though not main characters in Whispers of Fortune, it was fun to reconnect with Zane Hart and sisters Michelle, Jilly, and Laura. Two Harts Ranch has been expanded into a boarding school for orphans. Two of them, Thayne and Lock MacKenzie, ages 16 and 14, left their home in New York and traveled on an Orphan Train to California. They had a journal from their grandfather that mentioned treasure which whetted their imaginations. When their older brother, Brody, returned home from college to find the boys missing, he soon was on their trail. The Hart ranch is being run by Josh and his sisters Annie and Ellie. Brody's meeting wih them was memorable. You might guess that with a rumored treasure there would be others hunting who were less than honorable, even downright despicable. Whispers of Fortune is a fun book to read. I can hardly wait for the next book in the series to continue the story. This is definitely a series that needs to be read in order and in its entirety. I received a complimentary copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

A story filled with adventure from the turn of the first page, author Mary Connealy has written another enrapturing western that readers will thoroughly enjoy. A story of two runaway little brothers, a Grandfather’s lost treasure, fortune hunters, and of course a touch of romance. Readers will absolutely adore little brothers Lock and Thayne and their mischief, as their older brother Dr. Brody MacKenzie. And of course there is the FMC, Ellie who is sassy, but also has a kind heart. This story also has Christian themes focusing not only on earthly treasure, but heavenly treasure. A fantastic tale that readers will not want to miss.

As I started reading this historical romance, I traveled back in time to 1874. In California, The Two Harts Ranch provided an adventure filled setting and characters that I enjoyed.

As a young doctor searched for and found his missing brothers, he also found a place to belong. His skills were needed as babies were born and sutures were sewn.

My favorite storyline involved a treasure hunt, complete with clues, maps, old journals and luck, both good and bad. The bad involved danger and some rather dastardly enemies.

The romance storyline was light and sweet. I enjoyed the family storylines, especially the ones between siblings. I also loved how teamwork and cooperation were a huge part of everyday life on the ranch.

Though this book is a stand alone, a new series by Mary Connealy, it is connected to one of her previous series, The Lumber Baron’s Daughters. I feel like it’s helpful to know that, though you can read it without that knowledge.
There’s a lot of bitterness and greed that these people are coming up against. A long family feud that one side may not even have any knowledge of. But for our heroes and heroines, there’s curiosity and a sense of adventure. The hunt for treasure, whatever that treasure may be, is strong. It’s a treasure hunt with a side or budding romance. It’s a very good book that leaves you wanting the next book in the series. I was entertained and enjoyed the escape.

I was blessed with a complimentary copy of this book. However, all thoughts and opinions about it are my own. I then purchased the audiobook for my family to enjoy.

Whispers of Fortune Is a fun start to a new western adventure series! Set in post-Gold Rush California, this Christian Historical Romance has a captivating storyline and inspiring themes of faith, forgiveness, and friendship.

A slow burn romance, strong heroine, family treasure hunt, a bit of humor, lovely reflective moments, and some suspense and intrigue, made this an enjoyable and engaging read.

First off, this series connects back to one of Mary’s previous series: “The Lumber Baron’s Daughters,” which is one of my favorite Mary Connealy series ever. So that immediately elevates this series for me. Secondly the opening of this book pulled me in immediately and made me giggle and I was hooked from then on. The premise of hunting for a lost treasure is completely intriguing and the cast of characters is another great group that will be fun to read about as the series progresses. I am here for the Golden State Treasure series! It’s Mary Connealy at her best!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review. I also purchased my own audiobook copy. All thoughts are my own.

Whispers of Fortune is a thoroughly fun hunt for hidden treasure. The problem is the treasure is just a rumor, a "whisper," if you will. The rumor has been circulating in Brody's family for years, but he's willing to blow it off as just the fantasy of an old man who had participated in the gold rush years before. Brody's teen brothers, on the other hand, are convinced that the treasure exists--gold, most likely, but no one is sure--and nothing will do but drag Brody into the hunt, much against his will. Oh, and while he's at it, he might as well reluctantly start practicing medicine on the side since he just graduated from medical school. Also, there's romance.

Great plot! And I loved the characters. If you enjoy western romance with a hint of intrigue Whispers of Fortune will definitely fill the bill.

Disclosure: I voluntarily received a complimentary copy from the author as part of Austenprose PR publicity tours. All views expressed are my own.

This novel had a few different historical events as well as a treasure hunt! Loved it all. Brody heads West in search of his two missing brothers. He is afraid of the truth of why they headed West, the same as what took his grandfather and then father with nothing good coming out of the hunt. The Hart ranch has taken in many orphan's that have been sent West and the two McKenzie brothers have melded well into the family, although they have tested them a time or two. So when Brody shows up demanding his brothers back, so he can head back to Boston with them, the Hart's are not about to just let two boys run off with a stranger claiming to be big brother. How could he have let them take off in the first place and now just come calling for them? What kind of brother is this? As Brody proves himself, the two brothers also slowly come out with the truth of what brought them this way and how they used the orphan trains and streets to stay alive. Bound to find what their grandfather and father could not, Brody agrees with the Harts to allow the boys to hunt for this treasure that their grandfather had written about, but with some rules. Meanwhile, none of them knows that someone else is also on the hunt for this treasure. Will it be found, and who will get to it first? I loved this story line and can't wait for the next novel as we are left wondering what happens next. Thank you to the author for the complementary novel and to Austenprose for the tour invite. This review is of my own opinion and accord.

I didn’t even read the summary of this before requesting it, because Mary Connealy is an auto-buy author for me; all of her books have been fun, endearing, and satisfying to my old west lovin heart. I love how Connealy’s books overlap and we get to see more of characters we’ve come to love.
So imagine my surprise when I started reading and recognized a lot of names — this is about Beth Ellen (Ellie), Zane Hart’s sister from the Lumber Baron’s Daughters trilogy!!

My favorite Mary Connealy book so far!! The pacing was so fun. The characters were so fun. The TREASURE HUNT was so fun. Just. So. Fun!!!

This book is a wonderful start to what I can only imagine will be another amazing series from Mary Connealy. I did feel a little lost in the beginning, like I had missed something, then I realized this series is tied to The Lumber Baron’s Daughters series. While you don’t need to read the other series first, it would clarify what has happened in the past and who some of the referenced characters are. This series is set around Zane Hart’s family and the Two Hart’s Ranch, but there is also a hunt for a family treasure. In this book, we meet what remains of the MacKenzie family, brothers Brody, Thayne, and Lock, and learn about “MacKenzie’s Treasure”. Their grandfather and father spent their lives looking for the treasure, and now this generation of MacKenzies are on the trail of it also. They find more and more clues along the way, but they also run into trouble that makes them think twice about continuing their hunt for the treasure. If you are a fan of mystery, intrigue, treasure hunts, family, and a hint of sweet romance, then this book is a must-read

I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Lost treasure, missing orphans, vengeful villains and a full cast of characters collide with the Golden State Treasure debut. Book one will not be enough to satisfy readers as the threads of the tale continue with more surprises, strong faith elements and tough, compassionate families in wild California terrain.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
