When we find ourselves at the crossroads of doubt and faith, distant from God and worried our faith is slipping away, it's hard to know where to turn.
Some books tell you why your faith still holds true, and despite your growing unease, they insist you hold on to and even find certainty in what you've been taught. This isn't one of those books. Yes, our questions hold power. But rather than destroying or weakening our faith, they build and strengthen it--one honest chat at a time.
God, Can We Chat? invites you to take Jesus at his word when he calls you to come as you are right now--a doubting believer or perhaps even a believing doubter--to experience the intimacy and rest your soul craves in the midst of fear, doubt, anger, or confusion. Rather than attempting to answer all your questions or settle ongoing theological debates, author Niki Hardy helps you see doubts not as the end of your faith but as the beginning of an honest and fearless relationship with God--the one who is not threatened by our questions and who calls us not to unwavering belief but unrelenting love.

God, Can We Chat? by Niki Hardy is a great book for all us Doubting Thomases out there. From what I've read so far in the first several chapters, it is good to know I'm not alone with my fears and doubts that I feel on a daily basis. I am seeing God as not only my Father, Abba, but also as the One who will listen to me, even when I'm questioning Him. I am so grateful to Niki Hardy for writing this book, because it is helping me to take all me fears, disappointments, questions, confusion, and even anger to God with an honesty I had not had before. I no longer feel lost and alone with my trials and questions; I feel found, and through Scripture verses and examples of those who lived before us, I am seeing that God is with me, and his arms and ears are open.
In her new book, “God, Can We Chat?” Niki Hardy shares her struggle with doubt in all things, “GodFaithChurch,” with refreshing vulnerability. Having found herself at a point in her faith journey where the words of the familiar hymn felt uncomfortably rearranged to, “I once was found, but now I’m lost,” Niki would have disqualified herself from writing a book on faith. Many of us who have struggled with similar doubts in recent years may even shy away from such a book, worried that it will be filled with the same “toxic positivity” we see in the self-help world. But rest assured, you are safe within the pages of this book. Far from encouraging spiritual by-passing, this book is true to its subtitle, “A Daringly Honest Guide to Growing Closer to God, One Doubt at a Time.” This isn’t a collection of answers to restore your certainty, but a way to walk with God in the mystery of all your “whys” and “hows” and “whens” and “why nots”. It’s not a book you read and place back on your shelf, but one you work through as you begin to “reimagine (y)our doubts as (y)our faith’s superpower rather than its kryptonite…” The only disappointing thing about this book is that it wasn’t already written when I began to wrestle with my own doubts. If it had been, I feel like the past few years wouldn’t have felt so impossibly lonely. Thank you for this offering Niki. I trust the sacrifice of your vulnerability will lead many doubting believers like me to accept this invitation into the “great conversation” God has been having with his people since the Garden of Eden.
As an author in the spiritual growth space, I'm always searching for authentic voices that offer practical wisdom, and Niki Hardy's God, Can We Chat? delivers beautifully. Her conversational style creates an immediate connection, making readers feel like they're sitting with a trusted friend who understands both the beauty and messiness of faith. Hardy's refreshing honesty about her own journey establishes trust, allowing readers to explore their spiritual questions without judgment. What truly sets this book apart are Hardy's accessible prayer frameworks that readers can implement immediately in their own lives. She addresses the real obstacles many face in prayer without offering trite solutions, creating a resource that feels both practical and deeply empathetic. This is a rare spiritual book that speaks authentically to those desiring a meaningful relationship with God despite feeling disconnected from traditional approaches to faith and prayer.
For anyone who has grown up believing that it is a sin to doubt or question God or your faith, this book is for you. Niki Hardy take us on a journey through her own experiences and through those of some Bible heroes to show that doubt is not the enemy of faith, but a means of strengthening it and using it to draw closer to God. She unlocks 5 lies that we have heard, such as Can I question God?, Nobody else feels this way, and I Need to Choose Between Faith and Doubt. She breaks down these and other lies and offers insights and wisdom to counter them. We think we can’t tell God our fears and doubts, but those conversations actually strengthen our relationship with God. This is a book that should be read by every Christian, because we all go through hard times when our faith is tested and we struggle with believing the goodness of God.
Nikki Hardy’s God, Can We Chat? is a refreshing and compassionate invitation to those grappling with doubt and uncertainty in their faith. Rather than offering rigid answers or insisting on unwavering belief, Hardy encourages readers to bring their honest questions to God, fostering a deeper and more authentic relationship with Him. With warmth and understanding, she reframes doubt not as a threat to faith but as a pathway to greater intimacy with God, offering reassurance that He welcomes our struggles and meets us where we are. This book is a comforting companion for anyone feeling distant from God, providing a safe space to wrestle with faith while embracing His unrelenting love.
