Drivers were warned to expect delays and try and find an alternative route after a vehicle on fire blocked a major motorway. 

Police closed a section of the M8 eastbound while emergency services dealt with the incident. 

The reaod reopened around 11am after the incident was dealt with.

A statement from Police Scotland said: "The M8 is closed eastbound between junctions 22 and 16 and the M77 is closed northbound at junction 1.

"This is due to a vehicle fire.

"Drivers are asked to avoid the area and seek an alternative route."
