Mar. 31, 2:50 p.m. - With an Appalachian State offer on March 25, Spencer is now up to five in-state offers. Since UNC made the first move in January, Spencer has attracted a lot of attention.

Jan. 9, 12:42 p.m. - Cory Giddings, a member of Bill Belichick's staff at UNC football, stopped by Richmond Senior High School, where he made the first verbal scholarship offer to Terande Spencer. Spencer was a breakout player for Richmond this fall as he compiled 36 tackles for a loss and 17 sacks. He will be named First Team HSOT All-State in a couple of hours. With a Power 4 program like UNC being the first to make an offer, look for other programs to send some more attention Spencer's way.

Career Timeline

  • 2022-23: As a freshman, Spencer mostly played on the JV team. He was credited for playing in one varsity game, in which he made a tackle for a loss.
  • 2023-24: Spencer became a full-time starter as a sophomore. He mostly played at inside linebacker. Over the course of the season, he accumulated 67 total tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, six sacks, two pass breakups, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Five of his six sacks came in a 55-33 win over Southern Lee on Sept. 15, 2022. Richmond finished with a 5-6 overall record after getting knocked out in the first round of the 2022 N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A East playoffs.
  • 2024-25: Spencer enjoyed a breakout season in his junior year. As an edge rusher/outside linebacker, his impact was enormous. He finished with 101 tackles, 36 tackles for a loss, 17 sacks, two interceptions, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. Richmond achieved a 10-3 overall record, reaching the third round of the 4A East playoffs in head coach Brad Denson's first season.
