How Did Romeo + Juliet Affect Leonardo DiCaprio? (Photo Credit –Prime Video)
Back in 1996, Leonardo DiCaprio was wrecked. Not just once or twice, but nearly every time the director called “action” on Romeo + Juliet. At just 21, the rising star dove deep into the emotional whirlpool of Shakespeare’s most tragic lover, leaving him in literal shambles.
DiCaprio admitted he had to build a ritual just to survive the shoot. “I had so much emotional stuff to do in this movie, more than any other film I’d done. I mean, usually there’s some scenes where you’re sort of wrecked and crying, but here, in almost every other scene I was in a shambles” (via Cheat Sheet). The solution? Self-inflicted heartbreak.
He said Baz Luhrmann understood his process: letting him step away before scenes to spiral into darker places mentally. Leonardo DiCaprio would sit alone, try to tap into disturbing thoughts,...

Many regular theater-goers in New York likely play the following game. Before the show begins, try to guess how many of the actors you're about to see have been on an episode of "Law & Order" or one of its spinoffs. It may be wise to guess a number north of 15. After that, you open your Playbill and look through the actors' credits to confirm your guess. The person who comes closest without going over wins; everyone else has to pay for their meal after the show.
The "Law & Order" franchise has, as of this writing, close to 1,400 episodes under its belt, and each one of those episodes required at least one dead body and at least two suspects. This makes the property a hoop through which every working actor (especially in New York) has to inevitably jump. It's like entering the cave and taking the sword at the...

The city of Verona is about to be filled with pop music this summer with the release of Juliet & Romeo, and yes, you read those names in the right order. A new spin on William Shakespeare's legendary tale of love and tragedy is coming soon from director Timothy Scott Bogart, taking direct inspiration from the same 1301 tale that spurred the Bard to craft the most famous lovers in all of fiction. It'll see Juliet and her Romeo, played by Black Mirror's Clara Rugaard and The Last Supper's Jamie Ward, respectively, not just defying the long-standing feud between the Montagues and the Capulets but the very conventions of Shakespeare's timeless story. As part of Collider's Exclusive Preview event for summer movies, we can share the official trailer for the musical film along with a conversation with the director, teasing the star-crossed romance ahead.

Why Did Sarah Michelle Geller Mis Out On An Iconic Role Opposite Leonardo DiCaprio? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Before Titanic turned Leonardo DiCaprio into a global obsession, he nearly shared the screen with another ‘90s icon-in-the-making: Sarah Michelle Gellar. Yep, Buffy herself almost scored the part of Juliet in Baz Luhrmann’s wild, modern take on Romeo + Juliet. But as fate would have it, one glance sealed the deal for someone else.
Back in 1996, Gellar was still hustling for a film breakthrough. She’d already snagged a Daytime Emmy for her role as Kendall Hart on All My Children, but most of her credits lived on the small screen. Her big screen resume? Pretty slim. A minor role in High Stakes from 1989 and a few near misses, including Clueless.
But Romeo + Juliet? That was the one that stung. She auditioned for Juliet Capulet alongside a loaded list of future stars.

Few stories in literature glorify sisterhood as well as “Little Women.” Louisa May Alcott’s 1868 novel is more than just about romance, ambition, and societal expectations; it is also a love letter to the unshakable tie between sisters. The March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—all have different personalities, desires, and challenges, but their love for one another is the story’s beating heart. Throughout the years, several “Little Women” movie adaptations have brought this relationship to life in unique ways, portraying the warmth, rivalry, and profound emotional connection that constitute sisterhood.
Some emphasize the nostalgic comfort of family, while others focus on the intricacies and conflicts that come with growing up together. These films remind us that sisterhood is never perfect, but it is always powerful. One of the reasons “Little Women” remains popular is that it depicts sisterhood in all of its messy, incredible complexities. The March...

For a moment in the 1990s, adapting a John Grisham novel into a movie was akin to printing money. It all started with "The Firm," a film that had the good fortune of coming along just as its leading man, Tom Cruise, was really hitting his stride that decade thanks to "A Few Good Men." Of course, it helped that the 1993 legal thriller also paired Tommy C with the dream team of director Sydney Pollack, writer Robert Towne, and a killer supporting cast featuring Jeanne Tripplehorn, Ed Harris, Holly Hunter, Wilford Brimley, and the ever-on-point Gene Hackman.
(Fun fact: "The Firm" is also the flick Aubrey Plaza's character is watching as she practices her meat-beating skills in "The To Do List." If having your movie serve as the punchline in a teen sex romp isn't something all filmmakers aspire to, then I dunno what we're even doing.)

Runaway Jury, one of the best legal thrillers based on a John Grisham novel, has entered Netflix's top 10. The film features an incredible cast, which includes John Cusack, Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman, and Rachel Weisz, and was directed by Reacher's Gary Fleder. Runaway Jury currently sits at number seven in the United States and in the Netflix top 10 worldwide.
The movie is about a lawyer named Wendell Rohr (Hoffman), who is up against Rankin Fitch (Hackman), a shady jury consultant who is able to stack juries in the favor of the defense. In a high-stakes trial against a gun manufacturer following a workplace shooting in New Orleans, one juror (Cusack) and his girlfriend (Weisz) appear able to manipulate the jury to deliver the verdict they wish.

Like everyone in the universe, I love Tatiana Maslany.
She’s a tour de force performer, and no one else could have achieved what she did in Orphan Black.
The woman played over a dozen different characters to such dizzying degrees of specificity that one easily felt they were watching others in each of these roles.

The Maslany Effect is real. Despite a career that dates back to the ’90s, Orphan Black served as her breakout role, putting her on the map and fostering a legion of fans forever devoted to this woman and her talents.
It’s well-deserved. Ironically, genre series haven’t achieved what Orphan Black has done since then. The series became quite the phenomenon for boldly sticking to its twisty form of sci-fi and genre while still having cross-genre appeal.

Created by Winnie Holzman and starring Claire Danes, the cult favorite drama explored the tribulations of being a teenager and dealing with friends, guys, parents, school, and any unpredictable thing life could throw at you. My So-Called Life helped define a generation, and now Holzman and Danes are reteaming for The Applebaum Curse, a new drama coming to HBO.

A throwback-filled Q&a with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in the middle of SNL50: The Anniversary Special suddenly felt very 2025 tonight.
As the former castmates joked with the A-lister crowd in Studio8H, and Tim Meadows and Quinta Brunson got a Sade reference in there, the news that is captivating Hollywood stood right up at Lorne Michaels’ celebration.
Near the front of the star-powered audience bit, a tuxedo-clad Ryan Reynolds rose to ask a question of the 30 Rock and Parks & Recreation stars. With his in-the-news spouse Blake Lively looking on, the Deadpool actor stood up to a “How’s it going?”
That’s when Reynolds turned on the comedy chops and innocently replied: “Great. Why, what have you heard?”
Needless to say, with Lively’s multi-lawsuit war with It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni over what occurred during production of the film and the alleged online smear campaign that followed,...

On Halloween of 2022, it was announced that original Friday the 13th screenwriter Victor Miller – fresh off winning the U.S. copyright to the 1980 film after a lawsuit that stretched on for years – was teaming up with his lawyer Marc Toberoff, franchise rights holder Rob Barsamian, production company A24, the Peacock streaming service, and showrunner Bryan Fuller (whose credits include Hannibal and Pushing Daisies) to develop a new Friday the 13th streaming series called Crystal Lake. Things were moving ahead at a good pace, filming was expected to begin this July, but then the project hit a speed bump at the end of April with the firing of Fuller and his frequent collaborator Jim Danger Gray. Harold Perrineau's amazing performance as Sheriff Boyd Stevens is a huge part of what makes From such a great show. He masterfully translates from script to screen the tough ex-military man turned emergency sheriff, growing ill and emotionally unstable, but still keeping his head high. Fans can't wait to see what Season 4 will bring for his character after such intense challenges so far. But some may not know the actor has had an amazing career on television before starring in the ongoing horror series. He's known for playing Augustus Hill in HBO's Oz from 1997 to 2003, and he had already proven his talent for sci-fi mysteries as Michael Dawson in Lost in 2004, long before taking on the main role in From.
At the same time, fans of these TV shows may not have noticed or may not remember, but Perrineau has also appeared in several popular films since 1988 -- when...
