The Diplomat is expected to return to Netflix in 2025 with a season 3 of the political thriller starring Keri Russell as the US ambassador to the UK, Kat Wyler, and Rufus Sewell as her husband, Hal. After the explosive ending of season 2, which revealed betrayal and possibly left many essential characters for dead, the series is prepared to bring an even more exciting third season.
The ending of season 2 revealed the shocking news that it wasn’t Iran or Russia that ordered the British aircraft blown up, but it was British prime minister Nicol Trowbridge, played by Rory Kinnear. It also seems that he is the one who ordered another explosion; this one aimed at killing Hal Wyler (Sewell), deputy chief of mission Stuart Hayford (Ato Essandoh), office clerk Ronnie (Jess Chanliau), and MP Merritt Grove (Simon Chandler).

Have you ever wondered what The Lord of the Rings would be like if the filmmakers were obviously stoned? You're about to find out, because the long-forgotten, and largely bonkers, animated Lord of the Rings movies have finally arrived on streaming. Peter Jackson's trilogy is undoubtedly the most beloved adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's world, with a stellar cast and phenomenal practical effects (not to mention the soundtrack), which brings fans back for multiple viewings every year. But, in the darkest corner of Mordor, lies an adaptation so bizarre and surreal, it should be cast into the fires of Mount Doom.
Decades before Peter Jackson brought Hobbits to life on the big screen, Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit both received animated movies in the 1970s. The Hobbit was released in 1977, with Lord of the Rings hitting theaters the following year. Unless you grew up watching these adaptations on TV in the 70s,...

Warning: Major spoilers ahead for The Diplomat season 2.After being introduced in The Diplomat season 1, Celia Imrie's Margaret Roylin plays an even bigger part in the latest run of the Netflix political drama, and her arc is very different from the previous run. Imrie is a major part of The Diplomat season 2 cast, as most of the story can't progress without Roylin's involvement. However, she lacks the freedom she had in The Diplomat season 1. Regardless, that doesn't stop her being a huge part of the plot.
The Diplomat season 2's ending wouldn't have happened if not for Celia Imrie's character. Roylin's connections to both Roman Lenkov and Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge make for an explosive season 2 finale that has been developing since the show's very first episode. Excitingly, the drama isn't over yet, and Roylin's influence must carry on into The Diplomat season 3's storyline - even if she...

The Diplomat season 2 is officially done filming, according to star Nana Mensah. And, there's even more good news!
Mensah told TV Line that filming wrapped in the UK. She also shared that season 2 should be released on Netflix later this year. It's not the first time that we've heard the new season is going to premiere this year, so that's a great sign for fans who are eagerly awaiting the premiere of season 2 of the Netflix original series starring Keri Russell, Rufus Sewell, and David Gyasi.
Mensah also told TV Line that season 2 is “even better, more dynamic, more everything. The tensions have mounted in a way that is really propulsive and exciting.”
So, we don't know when production on The Diplomat season 2 actually wrapped, but it was still in production as late as this spring.

The Diplomat season 2 begins immediately after the bombing at the end of the season 1 finale.
The opening scene of “When a Stranger Calls,” The Diplomat season 2 episode 1, reveals the aftermath of the bombing. Ronnie Buckhurst (Jess Chanliau), Stuart Hayford (Ato Essandoh), and Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell) were injured in the bombing, but we don’t know the extent of their injuries.
In Paris, Ambassador Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) and Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi) just realized that it seems like the Brits, possibly including Nicol Trowbridge (Rory Kinnear), are the ones responsible for the attack on the British ship before getting the call that there was a bombing in London involving Hal and Stuart.
From the first moments of the season, we know one person has died in the blast, but we don’t know if it’s Ronnie, Hal, or Stuart. We don’t have to wait long to find out.

Picking up after the dramatic explosion that left both Kate’s husband Hal (Rufus Sewell) and MP Merritt Grove (Simon Chandler) in danger, the trailer for the second season sees Kate ensure Hal’s safety before acknowledging her suspicions about the British government.
