Bruce Willis is best known for playing John McClane in the Die Hard franchise, a role which catapulted him to success in 1988 and cemented his legacy in the action movie genre. Meanwhile, Morgan Freeman is most notable for The Shawshank Redemption, though his distinctive voice has featured in multiple genres and numerous movie roles. The two veteran actors only appear in a handful of movies together, despite their long-running careers, but Red is arguably their most underrated movie appearance.

Madison Wells Live will present a private industry reading of “The Thing About Jellyfish,” a new play by Keith Bunin based on the best-selling novel by Ali Benjamin.

The reading will take place on Oct. 6 in New York City. It will be directed by Tyne Rafaeli and feature Matilda Lawler, star of Max’s “Station 11.” The ensemble will also include Mia Williamson, Lexi Perkel, Antonio Watson, April Matthis, Mateo Castel, Zak Orth, Stephanie Janssen and Robert Stanton. Kate Shindle has been re-elected president of Actors’ Equity, the union representing more than 51,000 theatrical actors and stage managers. She was first elected to the post in 2015, having previously served as the union’s eastern regional vice president. She made her Broadway debut in Jekyll & Hyde, with other notable Broadway roles including Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Vivienne in Legally Blonde and the Mad Hatter in Frank Wildhorn’s Wonderland.

In other elections, Dee Hoty was elected Eastern regional vice president and Kelley Faulkner was elected Cntral regional vice president. Doug Carfrae, running unopposed, was elected Western regional vice president.

The union did not provide vote totals or say who the losing candidates were in any of the races.

The election also included 42 council seats across all three regions, representing principal actors, chorus actors and stage managers, along with a new at-large category.

Mr Mercedes is finally heading to the UK with the At&T Audience Network series debuting on Starz’s digital channel.

The Stephen King adaptation, which was written by David E. Kelly, will launch on Starzplay, which is available via Amazon’s Prime Video Channels service. The first season of the show has launched immediately on the platform, while the second season, which will launch in the U.S. on August 23, will launch soon after its bow.

Produced by Sonar Entertainment, summer series Mr. Mercedes follows Brady Hartsfield, played by Harrry Treadaway, a demented killer who taunts a retired police detective Bill Hodges, played by Brendan Gleeson, with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.

Yet another Stephen King novel is set to get the TV treatment. While folks may be more dead set on seeing some of Stephen King’s older work — like It, The Dark Tower, Firestarter, or The Mist — on the big and small screen, we can’t forget that the dude’s been writing pretty great novels in recent years as well. Most recently, King’s put out a trilogy of hard-boiled detective novels. The stories started with Mr. Mercedes, continued with Finder Keepers, and concluded with End of Watch.

We’ve known for some time that the first book would be adapted for the small screen, but after being announced, back-burnered, and then brought back to the fold, it became easy to lose track over what the actual status of the project was. An international teaser trailer for Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard, the second film in the Luc Besson-directed animated/live action adventure series, is now online. The films are based on a series of books written by Besson and the first film, Arthur and the Invisibles, opened in 2006. In Revenge of Maltazard, Arthur (Freddie Highmore) answers a distress call from Princess Selenia, who is menaced by the nefarious Maltazard. It also stars Mia Farrow, Robert Stanton, Matthew Gonder and Penny Balfour. It opens in France next Christmas. A North American release still hasn’t been set. Besson shot Maltazard back-to-back with Arthur and the Two Worlds War, which is expected to hit theaters in 2010.
