David Oyelowo is still determined to take to the skies in The Return of the Rocketeer, a sequel to the 1991 cult classic The Rocketeer. First announced in 2021, the film is to be produced by, and possibly star, Oyelowo, and is to center around a retired member of the Tuskegee Airmen who takes up the high-flying mantle of the Rocketeer. Oyelowo spoke about the project with Collider's Christina Radish while promoting his new Apple TV+ series, Government Cheese.

Alex Proyas’ Dark City is getting a limited edition 4K Uhd Blu-ray release in June. More details below.

Alex Proyas’ 1998 cult film Dark City is getting a 4K release this coming June, courtesy of Arrow Video. The film will be available on DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K Uhd Blu-ray on 23rd June. The release will include both the theatrical release and Proyas’ director’s cut, which was originally released in 2008.

Here’s a synopsis: John Murdoch (Rufus Sewell) wakes in a hotel bathtub with no memory of who he is or how he got there, but there’s a body on the floor with bloody spirals carved into the flesh and a voice on the phone that tells him to flee. Soon Murdoch is on the run, wanted by the police, a woman who claims to be his wife and a group of mysterious pale men who seem to control everyone and everything in the city…...

Kelly McGillis' Charlie was one of the big reasons the 1986 blockbuster Top Gun worked so well. A smart, capable woman in an era of token girlfriends, the Top Gun actress brought a surprising sense of equality to her relationship with Tom Cruise's Maverick. She dictated the terms of their romance, she was presented as the more emotionally mature of the two, and, at the end of the film, he came to her rather than staying out with the boys and their shirtless volleyball games. Her status as an instructor keeps her in Maverick's orbit without much effort, and she was a shoo-in for Top Gun: Maverick, the 2022 sequel that turned into an even bigger hit than the first film.

Yet McGillis didn't appear as part of the cast of Maverick, citing ageism as the cause. Her absence left Maverick without one of the key ingredients to its predecessor's success.

The night will never end when Dark City releases on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on June 24 via Arrow Video.

The 1998 sci-fi noir thriller is directed by Alex Proyas from a script he co-wrote with Lem Dobbs and David S. Goyer.

It has been newly restored in 4K from the original 35mm camera negatives, approved by director of photography Dariusz Wolski, with Hdr.

Both the 100-minute theatrical version and the 111-minute director’s cut are included with original DTS-hd Ma 5.1, stereo 2.0, and new Dolby Atmos audio options.

In Phenomena, a savage serial killer stalks the students of a Swiss boarding school, and teen outcast Jennifer Connelly has one major line of defense: her psychic connection to insects. Her power helps her close in on the murderer and navigate the perils of private school, all in the course of a feature film — but a series-length expansion of this unique story could be the perfect replacement for Stranger Things after its 2025 finale.

Jay Ellis, the actor who shared the screen alongside Tom Cruise and Miles Teller as Lieutenant Reuben "Payback" Fitch in Top Gun: Maverick, has offered a positive update on the highly anticipated sequel. Per Ellis, Top Gun 3 is gearing up to take flight, with writers currently working on the script. Top Gun: Maverick was one of the most important and successful movies to come out in the post-covid-19 era. After its release, you would have thought that a sequel was the obvious next step for Paramount Pictures and star Tom Cruise. Nevertheless, it appears they don't want to rush the film for the sake of a cash grab. Cruise cares about his stories, and writer Ehren Kruger is likely in tune with finding the right one.

Ellis, who has also appeared in films like Escape Room, Somebody I Used to Know and TV shows like Insecure, offered the encouraging update recently.

Phenomena: The Series is said to “reimagine” the world of Dario Argento’s 1985 horror movie, delivering “a unique blend of supernatural intrigue and high-stakes drama.”

Robert Eggers' latest horror film, Nosferatu, has received tons of praise from critics and audiences, but it just received a major stamp of approval from legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, who revealed he's a massive fan of the film and the man behind the vampire flick.

Per GamesRadar+, Scorsese sat down with TCM host Dave Karger to discuss his legendary career in cinema, when the topic of Nosferatu was brought up. When asked whether he had seen the film, Scorsese confirmed that he had and offered tons of praise for the film and Eggers himself. "It’s amazing," Scorsese said. "Anything this guy does, amazing. And that's one [film] you don’t do much after seeing. You’re still in the world. You’re in Transylvania, and it’s really, [laughs] whoa. Man, he’s something."

Back in 2020, we got word that Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson had signed on to helm a sequel to Jim Henson's fantasy classic for Sony-owned studio TriStar Pictures. Updates have pretty much been non-existent since, and we had heard that another filmmaker was being sought for the project - we just didn't expect it to be Eggers!

According to Deadline, Eggers is also set to write the project with frequent collaborator Sjón for TriStar. Producers will include Lisa Henson, Chris Columbus, and Eleanor Columbus, while Brian Henson will executive produce.

But there’s more! According to Deadline, the filmmaker has closed a deal to write and direct a new Labyrinth film for TriStar Pictures.

The original Labyrinth is a much loved cult classic from 1986. It saw the great Jim Henson direct from a screenplay by Monty Python member Terry Jones.
