Season 8 of 9-1-1 ramps up the tension in a new sneak peek showing Maddie Han facing off with her captor.

The awaited mid-season premiere of Season 8 of the Ryan Murphy series 9-1-1 started back up with a bang after a four-month hiatus. A sneak from Episode 10, which aired on ABC on March 13th, showed a glimpse of Maddie Han, played by Jennifer Love Hewitt, in a confrontation with her kidnapper and serial killer.9-1-1 airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC and becomes available a day after for streaming on Hulu.

The mid-season eight premiere, "Sob Stories," ended with Maddie being knocked out and kidnapped in her own home after an intense day on the job. While Avatar: The Way of Water proceeds to become profitable as it continues its box office reign worldwide, Paramount will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the James Cameron epic that was made infamous by becoming the highest-grossing movie of all time and catapulted the auteur out of genre films into a prolific technological filmmaker.

Fathom Events presents Betty White: A Celebration in 1,529 locations nationwide, a one-day-only special event on Monday honoring the actress who died Dec. 31 just a few weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Exclusive: Screen Media has acquired U.S. rights to Benjamin Louis’ found footage horror film Stoker Hills, starring William Lee Scott (The Butterfly Effect), Danny Nucci (Titanic), Steffani Brass (Six Feet Under) and Tony Todd (Candyman), with plans to release it in theaters and on demand in January.

The film penned by Jonah Kuehner (Good Luck Charlie) is set in the secluded town of Stoker Hills, watching as three college students filming a horror movie find themselves trapped in their own worst nightmare. The Offer is based on two-time Oscar-winning producer Al Ruddy’s (Teller) experience of making the iconic 1972 film The Godfather that Francis Ford Coppola directed and adapted with Mario Puzo from Puzo’s bestselling novel. The movie starred Marlon Brando, Pacino, James Caan, John Cazale, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton and Talia Shire; it was nominated for 11 Oscars and won three — including Best Picture for Ruddy.

Exclusive: Filming on The Offer, Paramount+’s upcoming limited series about the making of The Godfather, was suspended due to a positive test in the central Zone A that includes the cast and those interacting with them, Deadline has learned.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we have temporarily halted production on The Offer due to the return of a positive coronavirus test result during routine testing,” a rep for series producer Paramount Television Studios said in a statement to Deadline about the production pause, which came Wednesday. “We will continue to follow all safety protocols and monitor the situation closely.”

The development comes amid a surge of the Delta Covid variant in Los Angeles. HBO’s Westworld and FX’s American Horror Story also recently paused production over positive Covid tests.

Chambers will guest star on the series as Marlon Brando, who won an Oscar in 1973 for his role in “The Godfather.” The project marks his first TV role since departing “Grey’s Anatomy” earlier this year.

Burn Gorman has been cast in the series regular role of Charles Bluhdorn, the volatile head of Gulf & Western, while 14 recurring guest stars have also joined the series. Among those is Justin Chambers in the role of Marlon Brando, Lou Ferrigno in the role of Lenny Montana — the former wrestler who played Luca Brasi — and Michael Rispoli as Tommy Lucchese, head of one of the Five Families.

The Firestarter reboot has found its lead star in Zac Efron. In the works at Blumhouse for years, the upcoming remake is written by Scott Teems. Following initial reports that Fatih Akin would be directing the new take on the classic Stephen King horror story, it has since been confirmed that Keith Thomas has signed on to helm the movie. It’s hard to mention The Fosters, which returns to Freeform on Monday Jan, 25 for the second installment of its third season, without a discussion of diversity. Since its premiere, the show has been lauded for its diverse cast and portrayal of relationships not often seen on television – particularly on teen TV – such as same-sex relationships and those in a mixed and blended family.

Moreover, the show has always used what makes it different – its fearlessness in representing a wide range of issues that affect real teens (and not just the wealthy, white ones) – to create type of drama necessary to fuel and sustain a long-running soap. Unfortunately, the Foster family enters the second half of the third season on shaky ground, and the show itself follows suit – with a lackluster episode that wavers rather than building to an exciting finish.

May 6th marks the ten-year anniversary of the Friends series finale. That night, over 52 million people tuned in to find out how it would all end. Would Ross finally get together with Rachel? Get out the flamethrowers! Paramount Pictures is planning a remake of the 1985 sci-fi family classic Explorers, from Gremlins director Joe Dante.

The original story follows three outcast teenage boys who bond over the creation of a homemade spaceship that sends them into the deepest reaches of the galaxy, where they meet an adolescent alien that has been weaned on TV. Ethan Hawke, River Phoenix and Bobby Fite starred as the three best friends. The movie flopped at the box office, after its release date got moved up and its third act had to be hastily rewritten on the fly. It found a strong second life on VHS to become an 80s classic. Some believe it fell under Steven Spielberg's Amblin Film's banner, but he was not a producer on the movie.
