Tyler Ritter is revealing the first portraits of his and wife Lelia Parma’s son, Benjamin Parma Ritter, who was born on June 9. The Arrow star is opening up to Et about life as a dad and how the unexpected surprise of becoming a parent has made him more connected to his late father, acting icon John Ritter, who died at 54 from an aortic dissection.
“Some people had braced me for it, saying, ‘It’s going to be the most beautiful moment of your life and probably the hardest moment of your life knowing your dad’s not here,’” Ritter tells Et about preparing for the moment that he would become a father, nearly 14 years after the death of his own. But any hesitation was wiped away the moment his son was born. “It was actually more affirming to see him born,” he says, wondering “if what I’m feeling now for Benjamin is what my dad...

[Editor’s note: The following interview contains spoilers for the “The Leftovers” Season 3, Episode 7, “The Most Powerful Man in the World (and His Identical Twin Brother).” Moreover, what follows likely won’t make a lick of sense unless you’ve seen the episode, which cannot be succinctly explained.]
On Sunday night, the President, Vice President, and Secretary of Defense secretly plotted to destroy the world — and succeeded.
No, this isn’t a breaking news story — not yet, anyway — and the world eviscerated by nuclear war luckily wasn’t even real in the fictional world of “The Leftovers.” In the most recent episode, aptly titled “The Most Powerful Man in the World (and His Identical Twin Brother),” the American political trio destroyed the afterlife as we know it in order to save Kevin’s soul, and playing the titular roles were Justin Theroux, as President Kevin Harvey, Ann Dowd, as Secretary of Defense Patti Levin, and Liv Tyler, as VP Meg Abbott.

The collective answer to those three questions are of course yes. And no. Start trawling the web for word of a sequel to the 1999 cult classic turned post-modern masterpiece and one thing soon becomes apparent: the first rule of a Fight Club sequel is that you don’t talk about a Fight Club sequel. It will come as no great surprise to you that the second rule is somewhat similar in fashion and wording to the first.

Comic Books 101: DC Rebirth Review 2017!
DC Comics had an overall week ending to their New 52 run. Many of the series just petered out, with only a few having any significant sendoff (Batman, Jla, Superman. Marvel was killing them in sales, and only the core titles ever broke the top 10. Then it all changed, DC made a bold announcement to once again “rework” their line up and in continuity world. They announced is DC Rebirth (You can see the lead up to DC Rebirth in my article here DC Comics Then And Now) an attempt to “get back to basics” for many of their characters. New creative teams, no visions for their books, and less crossovers! Phase 1 of the relaunch so far has been a huge success, the months of June-August were predominantly DC books in the top sales, and many fans have enjoyed the new stories regarding their favorite characters.

Helicopter footage released Monday showed police in Tulsa, Oklahoma, allegedly shooting and killing an unarmed African-American man on Friday night after he walked toward his SUV with his arms raised. Terence Crutcher, 40, can be seen walking slowly toward his car, which authorities alleged had been left abandoned and running in the middle of the road, according to NBC News. The video footage shows an officer following Crutcher slowly from behind with a gun pointed at him. In the video, Crutcher approaches the driver's side door before dropping to the ground after being shocked with a stun gun. He was fatally shot moments after.

While people had various issues with The CW's "DC Legends of Tomorrow," one of the more common complaints was the disappointing villain Vandal Savage. The actor's performance aside, much of the setup of the character took place in the "Arrow"/"Flash" crossover earlier that season.
As a result, we went into the series knowing perhaps too much about him. That won't happen with the next season as the show's executive producer Marc Guggenheim tells EW they intend to have more of a mystery surrounding who the antagonists of the second season are:
"Unlike season 1 of Legends, where we basically had the big bad introduced in the crossover, what we're going to do in season 2 of Legends will be more similar to what you've experienced in the first three seasons of Arrow or the first two seasons of Flash, where it's more of a slow reveal and a little bit of a mystery.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 1, Episode 16: “Legendary”
Story by: Greg Berlanti & Chris Fedak
Teleplay by: Phil Klemmer & Marc Guggenheim
Directed by: Dermott Downs
Airs Thursdays at 7pm Et on The CW
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow ends its first season on a deft, compelling cliffhanger that opens a number of possibilities. The finale itself, as per usual for the show, does a few things well and almost everything else poorly. The primary thing it does do well is jettison the three weakest characters (whom I have been vocally requesting killed off for most of the show’s run), namely: Savage, Kendra, and Carter.
Yet even that comes with a caveat, because after an initial mishandling of Kendra’s character early in the season from the writers, and uncomfortable acting from Ciara Renee, the show gradually but very thoroughly turned Kendra around and made her a well-rounded, interesting, sweet and empowered character,...

HBO's "The Leftovers" just concluded an incredible second season. (Here's my review of the finale.) As a bookend to the long and candid conversation we had two months ago, I spoke with the series' co-creator Damon Lindelof about many of the big decisions going into the finale, about all the hard work and tough choices required for a season this good, and his thoughts about the show's precarious future, coming up just as soon as a temple closes on Christmas... Let's start with a meta question: why are we doing this interview? A year ago, you didn't want to do any post-mortems. You wanted to let the show speak for itself. You did a bunch at the start of this season, you talked to Mo Ryan last week, and are doing a few like this for the finale. Why did you decide to be a little bit more out there this year?...

Director Robert Mandel's F/X is one of the most entertaining and compulsively watchable thrillers of 1986. I originally caught up with it on VHS and, while I was impressed with the film, the ending I found to be both hokey and frustrating, mostly due to the completely out-of-place 1982 song “Just an Illusion” by Imagination that plays over the end credits. I felt that it undermined all that preceded it. However, like William Friedkin's To Live and Die in La (1985) and David Lynch's Blue Velvet (1986), F/X is a film that would only grow on me after subsequent repeated viewings. I learned to forgive the inclusion of this song as the final minutes should really be viewed as a visual pun on the film’s overall theme, which begs the question “What is real and what is fiction?”

Exclusive: Tyler Ritter is following in the footsteps of his father, the late John Ritter, with a starring role on a multi-camera comedy. Tyler has been cast as the lead in CBS’ new pilot for The McCarthys, from Sony TV and Will Gluck’s Olive Bridge Entertainment. The comedy is being retooled as multi-camera after shooting a single-camera pilot last season. Written/co-executive produced by Brian Gallivan, The McCarthys revolves around a big, sports-crazed Irish Catholic clan in Boston and the gay son (Ritter) whose greatest sin is not his sexuality but his desire to spend less time with his family. This marks the biggest role to date for Ritter whose father toplined such sitcoms as Three’s Company and 8 Simple Rules. Tyler’s older brother, Jason Ritter, already has several series under his belt, including The Event and Parenthood. Tyler is repped by UTA and Principal Entertainment.

Once upon a time, it may very well have been possible to see all of the great television that aired in North America in a calendar year. For most of us, that time is over. From the ever-growing list of networks supplying quality programming to the advent of digital content providers smuggling in new and previously-unavailable series from around the world, 2013 marked the year TV became a truly unwieldy beast – in the best way possible. Beyond the distribution aspect, great television became a more diverse concept than ever before, in ways reflected in our staff’s collective list. Our Top 25 finds room for series of all shapes and sizes, from popular network mainstays to canceled-but-beloved cable darlings and everything in between. The beauty of it all? It’ll likely be even more painful to whittle it down to just 25 next year.

Ryan Murphy has revealed to EW details about the next season of American Horror Story, including that it will be set in the past. One possibility has me excited, the other feels a little too… familiar. He also said that there won’t be a Coven spin-off series, as originally suggested.
Josh Bowman tells TV Guide that he’s hoping to leave Revenge. “I love working on the show, but I’m just being honest. My character has flip-flopped the most, and it’s been so hard for me to play,” he explains. Masters of Sex, Season 1, Episode 7: “All Together Now”

Episode 8: “Love and Marriage”

Characters on Masters of Sex are prone to syntactically ambiguous pronouncements. In “All Together Now,” this one stands out: “I’m not discussing my sex life with you.” Those words pass between William and Virgnia, who quite suddenly fold themselves into their own study with little fanfare. Actually, no fanfare whatsoever: in the episode’s opening seconds, they are literally mid-coitus, and apparently not for the first time. The ostensible central couple of the series has made a serious move into practice, and though we see the moment they make that decision (the previous episode’s final scene), we skip the rest of the foreplay and get right in on the action.

The CW to follow success of Arrow with live action version of DC's Hourman...
Fans of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ Watchmen will already know of the creative riches that can be mined from the Golden Age of comics. It’s a truth not lost on The CW, who is intending to build on the success of Arrow (and the hoped for success of in-development Flash) by creating a live action TV adaptation of 1940s masked adventurer Hourman.
The hero, whose real name is, wonderfully, Rex Tyler, enjoys superhuman strength and speed whenever he pops a tab of the unique vitamin compound ‘Miraclo’. The catch? His powers only last for an hour. In some versions of the character, he also possesses power over time itself and is able to move around in time and see glimpses of future events.

That’s right, kids, the network that’s bringing you Arrow and may be bringing you Flash in series form – Flash will definitely be appearing on Arrow this season; the “may be” is whether a spinoff series will be picked up – is working on another series from the DC galaxy: Hourman.
According to THR, this version of Hourman has our hero as a “brilliant-yet-troubled pharmaceutical analyst” who has been plagued by visions since his childhood, and who comes to learn that those visions are actually glimpses of the future – one hour into the future. “Determined to win back his ex-wife and son, he heroically prevents these tragedies from unfolding, finding both purpose and redemption along the way.”
The DC Database describes Hourman thus:
Hourman is the legacy of a masked vigilante who uses a drug named Miraclo to give him incredible super-powers for exactly one hour. Rex Tyler is the original version,...

The success of The CW's DC superhero series Arrow is testing the market with a planned series based on The Flash, but a lesser-known heroic property is also in development. DC's Hourman, originally introduced in 1940, may be headed to the small screen for his own live-action series. The title character, aka Rex Tyler, is a brilliant-yet-troubled pharmaceutical analyst who experiences visions of events that occur one hour in the future. Lin Pictures' Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz will executive produce alongside Michael Caleo (Ironside), who will also pen the script. Hit the jump for more. THR reports that The CW is busy developing an Hourman drama series. Per the write up, Tyler "discovers that the visions that have plagued him since childhood are actually glimpses of tragic events occurring one hour in the future. Determined to win back his ex-wife and son, he heroically prevents these tragedies from unfolding,...

With all the over-the-top McMahon craziness from Monday night, people may gloss over the Wednesday night offering of the Main Event and Nxt. But in reality it is still without a doubt the best one-two punch of WWE produced programming all week. Especially this week as we get a double dose of crazy, sexy and cool with Divas Champion Aj Lee. Plus, we see an awesome two out of three falls match with Antonio Césaro and Sami Zayn. Let us begin with this week’s Main Event.
The show begins with a solid six man tag with the Usos and Kofi Kingston versus The Shield. Everybody was on point as both trios gave it their all. At one point, the babyfaces did an amazing triple dive on the Hounds of Justice. The match had great back-and-forth between the two sides. Kofi Kingston definitely looks the best since his return to the WWE.

Since their debut in November 2012, The Shield has definitely changed the landscape of the WWE. Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose have brought justice to the developmental system by making first impressions all the more important. However, in recent weeks, it seemed the three have taken a backseat to other storylines and showed vulnerability piling up losses. This week justice looks to be a priority again on this week’s Main Event and Nxt.
Let’s start with the first of two appearances on this weeks edition of The Main Event. The show begins with a six man tag rematch from last week’s Monday Night Raw as the Usos and Mark Henry battle The Shield. Really solid opening contest with good back and forth between the two trios. The babyfaces start off really hot dominating until the first commercial break and then it switches as the Hounds of Justice take control.

Usually, the two pack of WWE Main Event and Nxt is the strongest wrestling television of the week from Vince and company. However, sometimes there are building weeks with a ton of shenanigans. And this week was apparently one of those times. Not to say there wasn’t great action, just not up to standards of the usual programming. Let’s begin by breaking down this week’s edition of the Main Event.
The Main Event comes to us from the not so distant past of last week. We are welcomed by the broadcast team of Jbl and Josh Matthews as R-Truth does his full rap as he is set to battle the Rebel Son himself Wade Barrett.
(Can you tell WWE is on an international tour this week and didn’t really care what they put out on television this week?)
The match itself felt very awkward. I just...

So... is it too late to change my vote?
When The CW announced a potential Vampire Diaries spinoff in January, I argued that it was a desperate measure by a desperate network. It would dilute the Tvd brand, I figured. It would be too much of a good thing. Or too much of the same thing, really.
However, upon viewing "The Originals," I realized that I vastly underestimated two people vital to this project:
Julie Plec. Joseph Morgan.
Granted, the segue into this week's backdoor pilot wasn't exactly smooth. Katherine's note at the conclusion of "Pictures of You" was fairly random and the first half of this episode felt as if we were dropped into New Orleans for no reason related to Mystic Falls at all.
But Plec clearly had a plan all along.
Contrary to what Klaus wanted to believe, Hayley was more than just a "liquor-fueled one night stand.

Rory Gilmore could be heading back to our screens this fall. Alexis Bledel has been cast alongside Jason Ritter in Fox's new comedy pilot, "Friends & Family," based on the UK series "Gavin and Stacey."
According to Deadline, Bledel will play Stacey to Ritter's Gavin. If the pilot is picked up to series, it will focus on the important moments in the couple's relationship and the difficulties they encounter "while combining their polarizing families’ lives."
Interestingly, Ritter just completed a stint on "Parenthood," playing the fiance of Bledel's on-screen "Gilmore Girls" mom, Lauren Graham. Fast-talking brunettes are obviously his type.
In other pilot casting news ...
TBS' "Do It Yourself" gets Awesome. Ryan McPartlin -- who played Captain Awesome on NBC's "Chuck" -- has joined the comedy pilot, which is set in a home improvement store called Home Time. McPartlin will play Tyler, "an enthusiastic employee of the paint department, where he gives several demonstrations a week.

"We were lucky enough to get hugs from Michelle Obama. It was like hugging America," the lead singer of folk-rock band Delta Rae told a cheering audience at Planned Parenthood's January 20th "Plan To Rock" event in Washington, D.C.
That warmth and enthusiasm defined the organization's inauguration-eve celebration. "We as young women have got to step up and do this," women's health advocate Sandra Fluke told The Huffington Post, speaking about the role that young women will play in affecting change during Obama's second term and in future elections.
The party was held at the 9:30 Club, a D.C. music scene staple, and sponsored by Planned Parenthood and Rock the Vote, a non-profit focused on getting young people to the polls. Condoms and chocolates covered the bars while young professionals danced, drank and brushed shoulders with politicians and celebrity co-hosts Kate Walsh, Aisha Tyler, Tatyana Ali and Sophia Bush.

With the new year comes some new beginnings, and that's exactly what we're hoping for. Can you blame us? After all, we are the ones who rearrange our nightly schedules just to see if so and so hookups this week, or if a certain pair of lawyers will look as dapper as always.
