French author of 60 plays, most of which became classic stage farces. His works are regarded as precursors to absurdist or surreal theatre.

Father of writer &#39;Jean-Pierre Feydeau&#39;.

He long thought he was the natural son of the duc de Morny and thus related to Talleyrand. He was the son in law of artist Carolus-Duran.
