As movies like Bone Tomahawk and Tremors 4 have proven, horror and Westerns are two great tastes that taste great together. I always like to hear that another horror / Western blend is in the works – so I was glad to see The Hollywood Reporter announce that the folk horror thriller The Wolf and the Lamb, which is set “during the western expansion of the 1870s,” is coming our way. Cassandra Scerbo of the Sharknado franchise and Adrianne Palicki of The Orville star in the film, which is currently in production, with filming taking place in Montana.

The Wolf and the Lamb marks the feature writing and directing debut of Michael Schilf. Scerbo is taking on the role of a widowed school teacher searching for her only son, who is the latest child to go missing in a tight-knit mining camp. But when the son miraculously returns, he is more monster than man.

Truth or Dare‘s Cassandra Scerbo, John Wick actor Adrianne Palicki, Hostile‘s Q’orianka Kilcher and Braveheart‘s Angus Macfadyen have boarded The Wolf and the Lamb, a folk horror/thriller from writer and director Michael Schilf.

The genre pic takes place during the western expansion of the 1870s and is shooting in Montana. Scerbo plays a widowed school teacher searching for her only son, played by Jaydon Clark (The Rookie), who is the latest child to go missing in a tight-knit mining camp. But when the son miraculously returns, he is more monster than man.

Time travel has always been an interesting subject for movies and tv shows to explore, and it's been present in mainstream and independent projects since always. But the most interesting thing about Cundieff's new film is that the time travel experience is limited to 57 seconds, so how much can actually be changed in that little time? A lot, apparently.

The interesting crinkle in Ali LeRoi’s coiling drama is that (Besides, notes LeRoi, the first time he dies, he does everything perfectly, placing both hands visibly on the wheel as though he’s been expecting danger his whole life.)

While aware that there is another Maniac review here on Nerdly, I felt the urge to review it myself after sitting down with the movie for the second time and being filled with the need to unleash words.

The original Maniac hit our screens in 1980 with Joe Spinell sludging up our televisions with his disturbingly dirty portrayal of Frank, the scalp obsessed nut-job with a heart of mould. Fans of the 1980 horror classic Maniac who think the upcoming remake may not be as gory as the original should put those fears to rest by watching an all-new extended 20-minute featurette about the making of the movie. Maniac director Franck Khalfoun, writer-producer Alexandre Aja, star Elijah Wood and makeup FX artist Mike McCarty take us behind-the-scenes and show off how some of these gruesome effects were created. We see that Elijah Wood's Frank actually takes the scalps off women, unlike the original which "held back" on some of the gorier moments, according to McCarty. We also examine Frank's weapons of choice, and much more from this bloody thriller, debuting on VOD and in New York theaters today, with a theatrical expansion to follow in the coming weeks.

Check out the official UK trailer and poster for the remake of the sleazy 80s slasher Maniac, which is directed by Franck Khalfoun (from a script by Alexandre Aja) and stars Elijah Wood.
