After the success of the Schwarzenegger Conan films, film mogul Dino de Laurentiis saw an opportunity to make a female-led film of the same genre. Red Sonja was released in 1985 and ultimately was a box office flop. Those of us who saw it as kids still loved it and put it alongside the Conan films as a trilogy. It has since gained a cult following. Ever since then, another Red Sonja film has been in the works in some form or another and has yet to be made. The TV series includes time travel, alternate worlds, saving universes, and so much character development that it’s hard to find something just as good. This is a story where the villain becomes the hero, continuing a journey started before his death.

Thirty years after it was last adapted for the large screen, the troubled Red Sonja reboot is finally coming out in 2025, a report suggests.

Billy Bob Thornton was reduced to tears when he watched his new movie 'Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties', writer-and-star Mike Smith has revealed. The comedy film - which is based on the Canadian TV series 'Trailer Park Boys' - sees Mike's character Bubbles form a country band and then get offered a European tour supporting Thornton's rock group the Boxmasters. It’s a little hard to say how popular the series Trailer Park Boys is. It went for twelve seasons and this is the fourth movie spin-off, all in the space of over twenty years. Not many shows have been quite as prolific as that. But. I have met very few people who have watched the show and I see very little talk about it online. I am a fan of the show and have been for a good while. Although in truth, it’s been a long time since I’ve opened up my DVD boxset. When I discovered a new movie was out though, I jumped at the chance to see it.

2024 had a lot of great sci-fi and fantasy TV shows, but sadly, a few that let viewers down!
Over the past 12 months, fans got to enjoy a lot of genre TV, from returning hits like The Rings of Power and House of the Dragon to great new shows like Fallout. There were also a few duds here and there, many of which came and went without much buzz. Not all of these shows were bad, some many were disappointing. Some were parts of franchies that came up short and others were new efforts that landed with a thud.
Here at the end of the year, we're remembering the 10 biggest sci-fi/fantasy TV shows that let people down. Not every show can be a winner. Just ask fans of these series:

The Perfect Peeves Actor For Harry Potter's Remake Just Wrapped Up A Beloved 4-Season Netflix Series

Rumors are flying about the casting of the upcoming Harry Potter TV show, but there is one actor who has to play Peeves, rumors or not. Peeves is one of the iconic ghosts from Hogwarts, but he never appeared in the Harry Potter movies. Peeves, along with Nearly Headless Nick, is one of the best ghosts in the castle, and he should definitely be explored in HBO's TV show. After all, one of the reasons for HBO devising the show was to go into Harry Potter in detail and carve out a place for characters that the movies couldn't include.
The Potterverse movies all displayed a wealth of excellent fantasy creatures, from the hippogriffs to the nifflers, but Harry Potter's ghosts have personalities to rival the witches and wizards. Peeves was an absolute scoundrel in Harry Potter, and he would bring a guaranteed level of fun to the show, along with Fred and George,...

Imagine Frodo Baggins swapping his epic quest for a romantic subplot that’d make Tolkien’s ghost do a somersault in his grave. Sounds wild, right? Before Peter Jackson gave us the masterpiece we know and love, The Lord of the Rings script once had Frodo getting cozy with Lady Galadriel in a storyline that screamed fanfiction gone wrong.

The idea of the shy Hobbit sharing anything other than a solemn gaze with the ethereal Elf Queen would’ve turned Middle-earth into a soap opera. Thankfully, Jackson swooped in like Gandalf at dawn to save the day, sparing fans (and Tolkien’s legacy) from one truly questionable scene.

The final season of The Umbrella Academy was divisive among fans for many reasons, but one element in particular sparked major controversy: the romance between Aiden Gallagher's Five and Ritu Arya's Lila. Viewers unanimously disliked this pairing for several reasons — one of which being that Lila was already married at that point in time, to Five's brother Diego (David Castaneda) — but Arya has since spoken up about the unpopular relationship, offering a far more favorable opinion.
Speaking with Collider about her newest project, Paris Has Fallen, Arya also addressed fans' less-than-enthusiastic reactions to the romance between Five and Lila. Surprisingly, she seemed to be a fan of their dynamic, stating, "I absolutely loved my storyline. I thought it was really creative and smart. I love art that pushes boundaries and creates conversations." Despite this enthusiasm, however, she did add that the final season's shorter length made it difficult to...

Red Sonja Leaked Footage Gives Us A First Look At Matilda Lutz In Action As The Flame-Haired Warrior

Aside from an initial promo image and a behind-the-scenes photo, we haven't seen very much from Millennium Films' Red Sonja reboot, but some snippets of footage from the movie have now leaked online.
Though it's only a few seconds long, the clip shows Revenge star Matilda Lutz in full costume as the She-Devil with a Sword as she does battle against a horde of ferocious foes. Right at the end, we also catch a glimpse of some kind of horned reptilian-looking monster in chains.
As you can see, Lutz's armour is pretty faithful to the later comic book depictions of the character (the skimpy chain-mail bikini was never gonna happen), and she also appears to be sporting Sonja's signature face-paint.
After over a decade spent attempting to get the project moving with multiple writers and directors attached at various different stages, Millennium finally managed to put its Red Sonja reboot...

Red Sonja has become an iconic character in comic book and fantasy culture. She is known for her strength, independence, and warrior spirit, often serving as a symbol of empowerment, especially for female characters in action genres.
Over the years, Red Sonja has appeared in numerous comic series, movies, and TV shows, gaining a loyal fanbase and inspiring other strong female characters in comics and popular media.
Two years ago, it was announced that Red Sonja is getting one more live-action adaptation, and now after a long time of almost no news regarding the state of the movie, some action footage has leaked online as well as some set images. You can check them out below:

“Anybody that causes a prison riot singing about whores and cats, that’s my guy!” quips Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade), in Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and The Shitrockers Story, a film with one of the most bloated movie titles to arrive in recent memory. The plot of this quirky comedy may not be as consistently amusing, but there’s still spunk in this offbeat tale about a frenzied Canadian band that finds themselves opening for Thornton’s band during a European tour.
To be sure, this film may work best for diehard fans of the hit Canadian TV show, Trailer Park Boys, and/or the real-life band featured in it, Bubbles and The Shitrockers. Still, if you’re a Borat fan and a lover of silly comedies or films about beleaguered bands, this film is for you. For others, it’s amusing enough and a...

The Boys is one of the best shows on Prime Video right now. The problem is there are four seasons that are eight episodes long, and that’s it. You’ll get through that fast!
You can watch Gen V, the spin-off of the series. Again, there’s one season of that right now. It doesn’t take long to work through it. So, you need to find more shows that are like The Boys to watch.
This is a series that is more than just superheroes and vigilantes going up against each other. There are elements that touch on real-world politics, a discussion about relationships, and a touch on grief and loss throughout the series. There isn’t quite something that will check every single box at the same time, but there are some great shows out there that work for many.

The 2018 film, Mortal Engines, had the potential to become the next Hunger Games, but it ended up being one of the biggest box office failures. Adapted from Philip Reeve's novel of the same name, Mortal Engines takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where cities are on wheels. With Hera Hilma and Robert Sheehan leading the cast of Mortal Engines, the film showed a lot of promise, but it couldn't win over audiences and critics.
Following The Hunger Games' conclusion in 2015, there was a rush to find the next young adult franchise that could replicate its success. Mortal Engines was supposed to be that franchise, but it was released too little too late. Despite its stunning visual effects and world-building, Mortal Engines received mixed reviews. When the movie premiered, it only made $7.5 million domestically on its opening weekend (via Box Office Mojo).

No one is ready to say goodbye to The Umbrella Academy — especially the cast. “I don’t want it to end, but everything has to end,” Ritu Arya, who plays Lila, told Tudum at the Season 4 premiere in Los Angeles. “So I’m in acceptance and gratitude.”
Because we’re in our gratitude phase too, we want to say thank you to the series’ loyal fans by giving away 17 (!) posters signed by all of the Brellies — Lila, Luther (Tom Hopper), Diego (David Castañeda), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Robert Sheehan), Five (Aidan Gallagher), Ben (Justin H. Min), and Viktor (Elliot Page). Now this is one timeline you do want to get stuck in!

A reboot of Red Sonja spent nearly fifteen years in development hell before going into production in 2022 with director M.J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) at the helm. Before Bassett signed on, the project had passed through the hands of directors Robert Rodriguez, Simon West, Bryan Singer, and Joey Soloway, with Hannah John-Kamen, Rose McGowan, and Amber Heard being considered for the lead role. Matilda Lutz ended up starring in the film, and while we still don’t know when we’ll get to see her version of the title character in action, a set pic has just arrived online to give us a look at a blood spattered Lutz wearing a version of the character’s iconic bikini armor. You can check it out at the bottom of this article.

It's been quite a while since we had any official updates on Millennium Films' Red Sonja reboot, but the movie's Instagram page has now shared a new behind-the-scenes photo of Revenge star Matilda Lutz as the She-Devil with a Sword.
As you can see, Lutz's armour is pretty faithful to the later comic book depictions of the character (the skimpy chain-mail bikini was never gonna happen), and she also appears to be sporting Sonja's signature face-paint.
After over a decade spent attempting to get the project moving with multiple writers and directors attached at various different stages, Millennium finally managed to put its Red Sonja reboot into production in 2022, with Solomon Kane director M.J. Bassett at the helm and Lutz taking over from Ant-Man and the Wasp and Thunderbolts* actress Hannah John Kamen as the fearsome warrior of the title.
The first trailer screened for those in attendance at San Diego Comic-Con last year,...

Robert Sheehan is known for playing the iconic Klaus Hargreeves in Netflix's The Umbrella Academy, but this isn't the first time he has played a sarcastic, immortal superhero. The Umbrella Academy follows a dysfunctional family of superheros whose trauma keeps them bonded but also isolated at the same time. Despite the dark tone, The Umbrella Academy also provides a constant stream of comedy, and features a diverse cast of compelling characters. One of the most comedic and beloved characters is Klaus Hargreeves, who can communicate with the dead and is later revealed to be immortal.
Klaus Hargreeves is a fan favorite whose eccentric and troubled personality is perfectly conveyed by the talented Robert Sheehan. Besides the lovable Klaus, Sheehan was previously known for his role in various UK television show. After playing a particular character in the UK show Misfits helped him reach a wider audience, Sheehan went on to act in films,...
