The premiere was held during the 2025 SXSW Conference and Festival, which is held every year in Austin.

Here’s the synopsis: “Deep within the backwoods of rural Oklahoma, charismatic and musically gifted Amziah King herds a bluegrass-playing band of misfits while overseeing the premier honey-making operation in town. In 2020 I reviewed a film premiering on Amazon called The Vast of Night, a small southwestern town drama that felt part Twilight Zone, part Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Its debuting filmmaker was Andrew Patterson, and I started my review predicting that based on that movie he was destined to become a very big thing.

Now five years later he has delivered his second film The Rivals of Amziah King, premiering Monday at SXSW, and he is working with much bigger name actors like Matthew McConaughey and Kurt Russell in a larger-scale crime drama/beekeeping/musical/character study, but still keeping it rural and real. Structurally, The Rivals of Amziah King seems to be two or three movie ideas rolled into one (at one point he was planning it as a seven-part limited TV series), which relies on the audience to follow the unfolding saga wherever it wants to take us.

Scream VI is getting a Blu-ray 3D release in Germany on February 27 from Turbine Media.

With star Mason Gooding recently teasing Neve Campbell's return for Scream VII, the overarching continuity of the slasher movie universe is beginning to take shape. The popular horror franchise created by Wes Craven in 1996 remained confined to the California suburbs of Woodsboro during the first five installments before branching out to New York City in Scream VI, a reinvigorating departure expected to continue when Scream 7 is released in 2026.

In addition to the coastal change, series mainstay Neve Campbell was noticeably absent from Scream VI due to contract disagreements. Then, Melissa Barrera, was notoriously fired from the franchise following her pro-Palestinian support after Scream IV was released, prompting Campbell's return for Scream 7. "I can see that he’s recognized me immediately, and you could see the wheels turning, like, I’m really angry, but Spider-Man is telling me to calm down," Holland laughed. Since its launch, Disney+ has become one of the biggest streaming platforms out there. Disney+ launched on November 12, 2019, wherein it was rolled out globally over the course of two years. Mescal — who plays Lucius Verus, the grown son of Russell Crowe’s character from the first “Gladiator,” released in 2000 — spoke in awe about Scott’s ability to shoot the film’s elaborate opening battle sequence, which involved Pedro Pascal’s Roman general leading a fleet of ships invading a city on the North African coast.
