A couple days ago, Neon announced that they will be releasing the horror film Cuckoo, which stars Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), in just a few months, on May 3rd. Now Deadline reports that Schafer has signed on to star in another genre project, the psychological horror thriller Palette, where she’ll be sharing the screen with Noomi Rapace (Prometheus).

The screenplay for Palette landed on the Black List last year, the Black List being an annual survey of the most-liked screenplays that are bouncing around in the system but haven’t been produced yet. Now this one is going into production with writer Zach Strauss at the helm. This will be the first feature directing credit for Strauss, who has also written Spike Lee’s upcoming film Da Understudy and episodes of the Frankie Shaw Showtime series Smilf.

While we wait for the horror movie Cuckoo starring Hunter Schafer, the actress has already set up her next project within the horror genre. It’s titled Palette, a psychological horror film.

Deadline reports that Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) will also star.

Zach Strauss wrote the screenplay and will direct Palette.

In Palette, “Schafer stars as Dolly, a woman suffering from extreme synesthesia, a rare condition through which she is able to hear colors.

“She is recruited into a secretive, cult-like industry of color design, where she discovers the dark reality of what it takes to make the world’s greatest hues.”

Deadline also notes in today’s report, “Rapace will play the company’s enigmatic executive Latrice and Frankie Shaw has joined the cast as Sidney, Hunter’s cutthroat rival.”

Strauss penned the script for “Palette,” which was featured on the 2023 Black List. He is also a writer on Spike Lee’s upcoming feature “Da Understudy.”

“Palette” follows Dolly (Schafer), “a woman suffering from extreme synesthesia, a rare condition where she is able to hear colors,” according to the film’s synopsis. She is soon “recruited into a secretive, cult-like industry of color design, uncovering the dark reality of what it takes to make the world’s greatest hues.”

Rapace is set to play Latrice, the company’s enigmatic executive. Frankie Shaw is also in the cast as Sidney, Dolly’s cutthroat rival.

Schafer is starring in another horror film, Tilman Singer’s “Cuckoo,” which is set to have its world premiere at Berlin Film Festival this month.

Majors is set to star in Da Understudy, playing a Broadway actor who finds a role he’s willing to kill for.

Lee is in early talks to direct the feature and is set to executive produce. Westbrook Studios, which developed the screenplay by Tom Hanada, Zach Strauss and Tyler Cole, is behind the project. Majors will produce the feature under his Tall Street Productions umbrella. Amazon landed the script on spec.

In addition to Majors, Will Smith will produce for Westbrook, along with Jon Mone and Mike Soccio. Cole, who originated the story, will executive produce.

While the Covid-19 pandemic is keeping movie theaters empty right now, Gunpowder & Sky will bring the magic of the cinema into viewers' homes with their livestream premiere of the new sci-fi horror film Sea Fever, along with a cast and crew Q&a.

Taking place on Gunpowder & Sky's sci-fi label Dust, the Sea Fever livestream will take place on Thursday, April 9th at 8:00pm Et, followed by a Q&a with director Neasa Hardiman and co-stars Hermione Corfield and Connie Nielsen.

Gunpowder and Sky’s sci-fi label Dust will launch adventure “Prospect,” starring Pedro Pascal, Sophie Thatcher and Jay Duplass, on Nov. 2 at Regal theaters nationwide.

“Prospect” will digitally premiere on SingularDTV’s blockchain-enabled VOD platform in 2019 following its theatrical run. Written and directed by Zeek Earl and Christopher Caldwell, the film centers on Thatcher and Duplass portraying a father-daughter team following their path through the galaxy in search of the ultimate payday. The film also stars Andre Royo, Sheila Vand and Anwan Glover.

The film won the Adam Yauch Hörnblowér Award at SXSW, where Dust bought the film. Peter Debruge gave “Prospect” a strong review for Variety when it debuted at SXSW: “If anything, this is what the standalone ‘Star Wars’ movies should feel like.”

Content studio Gunpowder & Sky is launching a free-to-stream channel on Roku devices for Dust — its content division dedicated to edgy sci-fi entertainment — stocked with films, TV shows and original short films.

The new channel, DUSTx, will be free to access on Roku and the programming will carry ads, which will be sold by Roku. G&S promises it will be a destination for “mind-expanding science fiction that explores the future of humanity through the lens of science and technology.” DUSTx will be available on all Roku devices starting Aug. 18.

Dust, which debuted in November 2016, now has more than 2 million online followers. G&S has launched channels for the sci-fi brand on YouTube, Facebook, Vrv, Pluto TV and Xumo.
