Ah, we are still catching our breath after the heart-stopping finale of Dope Thief, which crashed onto Apple TV+ with its eighth episode, Innocent People, on April 25, 2025. This crime saga, spun from Peter Craig’s genius and Dennis Tafoya’s novel, had us hooked like a fish on a line. It’s about two Philly buddies, Ray and Manny, who thought they could pull a fast one by posing as DEA agents to rip off drug dealers. Big mistake: they poked a hornet’s nest under real DEA watch.
Episode 8 wraps the saga in ash, betrayal, and drive-thru burgers. Manny (Wagner Moura) is gone, Ray’s haunted, and McKinty? Let’s just say karma arrived in a flaming van. So what’s next for Ray and Mina? Honestly, that’s the million-dollar question with fries on the side.
Dope Thief finale: Ray’s fight ends, but at what cost?...

[This story contains major spoilers from the season finale of Dope Thief, “Innocent People.”]
Dope Thief, the Apple TV+ limited series from Ridley Scott and Peter Craig, has wrapped its eight-episode run.
Adapted from Dennis Tafoya’s 2009 debut novel, the series followed self-appointed leader Ray (Brian Tyree Henry, also an executive producer) and his friend Manny (Wagner Moura), with whom he is trauma-bonded with while incarcerated. With limited options to generate money, Ray has the pair pose as DEA agents to shake down small-time drug dealers. They hit a life-threatening snag, however, when a score on bad intel results in an anonymous drug kingpin being determined to kill them. Even worse, the real DEA undercover agent Mina (Marin Ireland) who, unknown to Ray and Manny, survived the attack, is helping the investigation while barely holding on to life. With that information, the DEA is convinced that Ray, especially, is also a kingpin, so Ray and Manny must escape them, too.

On Friday’s finale of Peter Craig’s Apple TV+ drug conspiracy drama limited series “Dope Thief,” Ray (Brian Tyree Henry) gets close to a happy ending. But by that point, Manny has died of a heroin overdose, and Ray’s life is irreparably damaged from the choices he’s made and the ones that were made for him long ago — he’s just struggling to survive and keep those he loves alive. The season finale of Dope Thief is now streaming on Apple TV+, and it was absolutely worth the wait. We finally got those long-awaited answers to the questions that have plagued us for several episodes. Now that season 1 has ended, fans everywhere are left wondering one thing: Will there be a season 2? *Spoilers from episode 8, "Innocent People," are included below.
At the time of this writing, Apple TV+ has neither renewed nor cancelled Dope Thief, so the future fate of the series remains unknown. Should there even be a second season? In my opinion, yes, there should be, not because there's still a part of the book to adapt but also because of how the finale ended. While some might feel it was enough to wrap up the season's narrative and bring the story to a close, I see a starting point for new plot lines to explore.

Apple TV’s comedy crime drama, Dope Thief, had us hooked from the start. Brian Tyree Henry’s comic timing as Ray and the camaraderie he shares with Wagner Moura’s character, Manny, were pretty much the highlights of the show. What started off as a couple of Philadelphia men from the hood trying to make a few extra bucks by impersonating DEA agents and raiding drug houses escalated into something serious. One wrong decision on Ray and Manny’s part destroyed their lives. It all started when Rick, an inmate Manny befriended during his time in prison, recommended raiding a meth lab. He promised it was an easy job with a high payout. Ray was hesitant at first, but he got a little greedy and decided to take the risk. Ray and Manny soon figured out that they had been used by someone to get rid of a DEA...

Well, everyone, it’s time. Apple TV+'s Dope Thief season finale is Thisclose. After the events of episode 7, "Mussolini," it’s safe to say we can expect the unexpected. The penultimate episode brought the heat as the cartel proved to Ray (Brian Tyree Henry) that no matter where he and Manny (Wagner Moura) go, or whom they get to protect them, the cartel will always find a way to get to them.
As a result, Manny took his own life, which broke Ray and left him all alone to face what’s coming. Throughout the season, we’ve been encapsulated by Henry’s visceral, award-worthy performance, which has been the most outstanding of his career. We’ve been deeply drawn into this powerfully emotional, gritty narrative, thanks to his genuine portrayal.

Much of the Emmy conversation around Adolescence's acting chances has centered around Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper, as they play the two key characters in the harrowing project. However, Gold Derby is now predicting that five total performers will receive nominations this year.
The four-episode crime drama is created and written by Graham and Jack Thorne, and stars Graham as Eddie Miller, the father of Cooper's 13-year-old Jamie Miller, who is arrested for allegedly stabbing a classmate to death. Each episode is directed by Philip Barantini and filmed in a single take as viewers learn more about Jamie's crime from the viewpoints of the police, his psychiatrist, and his family.
Also expected to nab Emmy nominations for the cast are Ashley Walters as Detective Inspector Luke Bascombe, Erin Doherty as child psychologist Briony Ariston, and Christine Tremarco as Jamie's mother and Eddie's wife, Manda Miller. Cooper and Doherty are...

Brian Tyree Henry is tall. Around six feet two, with a commanding presence that, rather than impose, invites — a warmth that seems proportional to his stature. It’s how he manages to maintain a comfortable, low-key profile inside the restaurant at New York’s Four Seasons hotel, where, he tells me, he’s a regular. The Emmy-nominated actor, famous for his performance as the rapper Paper Boi in the acclaimed series Atlanta, has an easy rapport with the staff, who seem relieved that the A-lister in their midst treats them like peers.

Apple TV+ has quietly rolled out another banger, and this time, it’s all about fake badges, stolen stashes, and two guys who seriously underestimated how wild things can get when you mess with the wrong people. Dope Thief hit the platform in March 2025, and in just a few weeks, it’s gone from “what’s this?” to “you have to watch this” in group chats everywhere.
Starring Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura as Ray and Manny, the series kicks off with a reckless scheme, pretending to be DEA agents and robbing supposed low-level drug dealers. What could go wrong, right? A lot. Like, a lot. The vibe is gritty, the stakes are high, and the tension just keeps climbing with every episode.
Critics are on board too, with the show pulling in a strong Rotten Tomatoes score. And now, as more people binge through the mess Ray and Manny have landed themselves in,...

It’s hard to believe but sadly, it’s true: The end of Dope Thief season 1 is upon us, and it seems like yesterday that it just started — the markings of an excellent TV show.
Dope Thief premiered on Apple TV+ on March 14 with a two-episode release that introduced us to life-long friends Ray (Brian Tyree Henry) and Manny (Wagner Moura), two petty criminals getting by in life by reveling in a tad of delinquency. The pair frequently pose as DEA agents and rip off small-time drug dealers, but when they rob the wrong house, well, all hell breaks loose, and the lives and world they once knew are changed forever.
The series has been dark, gritty, tense, and full of action, boasting its fair share of twists amidst plenty of heartfelt moments between characters and the kind of levity that only Brian Tyree Henry can provide. As Ray and...

While Avengers: Doomsday will see various names from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and multiverse) unite, it appears one group of characters that will not be present are the Eternals, according to one of the film's stars. Given that Eternalsended on a massive cliffhanger, with a Celestial set to judge humanity's fate, and post-credits scenes introducing Harry Styles as Eros and teasing Blade and Black Knight, there were plenty of set-ups for future stories, and many assumed the heroes would return quite soon. Despite Doomsday including several prominent MCU teams, including Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, and X-Men together in an epic team-up film, notably absent from the cast announcement were any members of Eternals.

The sixth episode of Dope Thief is set to debut on Apple TV+ on Friday, April 11. Ahead of the premiere, Cbr can offer an exclusive sneak peek with the release of a new clip.
Dope Thief stars Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura as Ray Driscoll and Manny Cravalho, two friends since childhood who pose as DEA agents to rob drug dealers... until they pick the wrong people to steal from. Cbr's preview of episode 6 reveals Manny pleading for his life as he's approached by someone unknown in a vehicle at night in a rather tense moment for the character. The person who emerges from the car, however, is totally not who Manny was expecting. The video can be watched below.
"One thing that I loved about Manny -- the thing that I loved most about him -- is that he doesn't want to be there," Moura previously told Cbr about his role.

When Eternals came out in 2021, it marked a departure for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, it was rather too much of a departure, and the movie was the McU's first critical flop.
None of the members of the Eternals, which consisted of Gemma Chan's Sersi, Richard Madden's Ikaris, Lia McHugh's Sprite, Kumail Nanjiana's Kingo, Brian Tyree Henry's Phastos, Barry Keoghan's Druig, Lauren Ridloff's Makkari, Angelina Jolie's Thena, Don Lee's Gilgamesh, and Salma Hayek's Ajak, were on the recently revealed cast list for Avengers: Doomsday. And now Ridloff has come out and said something herself.
The Direct asked the actress "if Marvel has given you any hints about when we might see [the Eternals] next," and Ridloff answered, "Not likely. I don't know, my magic eight ball is telling me 'Not likely.'"
Not likely.
Her co-stars were slightly more optimistic up until this point.

We've heard conflicting reports about an Eternals sequel over the years, but at this stage, an MCU return for the team of immortal androids is looking less and less likely.
Chloé Zhao's divisive 2021 superhero epic not only had the dubious honor of being the first Marvel Studios movie to drop to "rotten" status on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, but also finishing up its U.S. run with a disappointing $164.9 million to give it one of the lowest domestic hauls of any McU-set film.
Even so, we appeared to get confirmation that a follow-up was in the early planning stages when Game of Thrones alum Kit Harington (who made his MCU debut as Dane Whitman in the movie) suggested that the project had been scrapped.

The original Godzilla vs. Kong film, released in 2021, was initially meant to serve as the epic conclusion to Legendary's North American reimagining of the classic Toho monster. As it turns out, this epic monster action film would become the most successful film in the series up to that point, a much-needed win after the somewhat disappointing box office haul of 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The success would lead to the 2024 sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, turning Godzilla and King Kong into allies instead of enemies, with the film making enough money to warrant a third installment, which is now confirmed to be in production thanks to a comment from an actor in the film.

Brian Tyree Henry confessed to breaking his own cardinal rule of not returning to television in order to star in Apple TV+’s crime drama Dope Thief. The Atlanta breakout star was initially reluctant to return to the small screen after a slew of theatrical releases that include The Eternals, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and The Fire Inside. Reflecting on his last acting roles in Atlanta and Class of ‘09, Henry said, “There seems to be this trend where people love putting me through trauma. You know what I mean? I’m either being shot at in a bulletproof vest, crying, all this stuff. I’m like, why can’t I just own a sandwich shop and be in love?”

Jon Hamm is back.
The Emmy Award-winning Mad Men star returns to series television in a lead role for the first time since the AMC drama concluded a decade ago this May with Your Friends and Neighbors. The Apple TV+ drama stars Hamm as a extremely wealthy hedge fund manager named Andrew “Coop” Cooper, whose idyllic life is thrown asunder after his wife, Mel (Amanda Peet), leaves him for a former professional basketball player, and he loses his job.
Apple lifted the review embargo for the show on Tuesday, and critics have already begun to praise the drama and Hamm’s performance.
“Jon Hamm has his best role since Mad Men,” Caryn James wrote for the BBC. “If you took Don Draper and dropped him into 2025 he might be Coop, a corporate man with a broken marriage and two teenaged children, a decent guy and a charmer with all-around bad judgement.

“The wait is over,” cowriter and producer Phil Lord said to the audience of theater owners and attentive press.

Captain America: Brave New World Worldwide Box Office: Beats Eternals’ Global Run (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Captain America: Brave New World is slowly achieving new milestones at the worldwide box office. It has crossed the global haul of one of the MCU’s controversial movies, Eternals. The film is controversial because it did not earn as much as other films and was also not met with positive reviews. Anthony Mackie’s film is trying its best not to become one of the five lowest-grossing MCU films.
Eternals was released in 2021 and featured a grand cast of the top Hollywood stars. It featured Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie. The MCU movie featured the immortal beings who came out of hiding after thousands of years to protect Earth from their ancient counterparts, the Deviants.

Since its launch half a decade ago, Apple TV+ has built up a strong reputation for adopting a quality over quantity approach in order to deliver some of the best shows and documentaries streaming has to offer. It's a platform filled wall-to-wall with lavish productions to watch and auteur filmmakers to appreciate, star-studded weekly-drop series to devour and cutting edge documentaries you simply must see.
It's because of this that, despite the vast content libraries of Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video, the house that Tim Cook built has become many a discerning viewer's chosen streaming home. Now, we know what you're thinking: with so many buzzy shows and docs to pick from, wouldn't it be great if there existed some sort of nifty, hand-curated guide to the best the streamer has to offer?

Whatever you think about Shia Labeouf, his intensity and commitment is unquestionable, and he's not afraid to be outspoken. Labeouf's interesting career path was diverted among a variety of scandals and allegations, and you could hardly call it a comeback when he returned in 2023 with the film Padre Pio. Which is a shame, because he gives a great performance, and Abel Ferrara always creates fascinating films. It was perhaps just too niche a movie to give the former Transformers star the spotlight again. That likely won't change with his next movie, Salvable, which recently released its first trailer. You can watch the trailer for the film, also starring Toby Kebbell, below:
The synopsis for Salvable reads as follows:
"Shia Labeouf and Toby Kebbell star in an emotional, action-packed film about a prize fighter’s battles both inside and outside the ring. When a battered boxer past his prime finds his...

Apple TV+'s March lineup has been stacked. From Peter Craig's brand-new series Dope Thief starring Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura to the star-studded The Studio led by the ever-brilliant Seth Rogen, there is something for everyone on the streamer this month. Another of the exciting new titles to debut on Apple TV+ is the hotly-anticipated spinoff series to the hugely popular Mythic Quest from the minds of Charlie Day, Megan Ganz, and Rob McElhenney.
Aptly titled Side Quest, the four-part series follows the lives of employees, players, and fans of the aforementioned Mythic Quest, the popular Mmorpg at the heart of the original series. With some skepticism about the ability of this spinoff to maintain the high quality of the original series whilst venturing into different avenues of the world, it looks as if those skeptics have been proven wrong, at least if early reviews are to be believed.

If you thrive on pulse-pounding crime dramas, then Apple TV+ just dropped your next obsession. A new series named Dope Thief has arrived, and it’s already being hailed as one of the most stressful TV experiences in recent memory.
A Dangerous Con Turns Into a Deadly Game
The crime drama, adapted from Dennis Tafoya’s acclaimed 2009 novel, made its debut on March 14 at Apple TV+ with a double-episode premiere. The show’s story follows Ray (Brian Tyree Henry) and Manny (Wagner Moura), two lifelong friends who’ve mastered the art of deception by posing as DEA agents to rob drug dealers.
But when they unknowingly target a high-level cartel operation already under federal surveillance, their luck takes a deadly turn. And now, with both ruthless criminals and the real DEA closing in, their once-profitable hustle spirals into a desperate fight for survival.

There's a cruel irony to "Transformers One," 2024's animated prequel film about the robots in disguise. Directed by Josh Cooley, "Transformers One" is the first great "Transformers" movie — yet we may never get a "Transformers Two."
I like the original 1986 "Transformers: The Movie." I understand why its rock-n-rollin soundtrack ("You've got the touch!") and epic moments -- from Optimus Prime's sacrifice to the planet eater Unicron revealing his enormous true form -- will burn into your brain if you see it at the right age. But the script is pretty slapdash, the animation is richer and more detailed than that in the '80s cartoon but still filled with careless errors, and the whole cynical purpose of the film is galling.
Meanwhile, all of the live-action "Transformers" movies directed by Michael Bay lie on a sliding scale of bad. "Bumblebee" is good, if slight, but then "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" was so boring.
