Demi Moore is continuing to reflect on her awards season journey nearly two months after the Oscars, at which “The Substance” star competed for best actress against “Anora” breakout Mikey Madison.
At the Time100 Summit, Moore responded to claims that she “should have won the Oscar” and was asked whether she sees herself on the Academy Awards stage in the future.
“That would be nice. I can’t say I’d be mad at it,” Moore said cheekily about eventually winning Oscar gold. “But the question of ‘Should I have won?’ is certainly not the perspective of how I hold it. Because, I didn’t [win]. I really do subscribe to this idea that everything in life is happening for me, not to me.”
Moore added, “That doesn’t mean there isn’t disappointment, pain, or that things go the way I would like. But when I look at it through that lens,...

As is tradition, the Cannes Film Festival has announced late-breaking additions to its 2025 festival lineup, with new films coming from Lynne Ramsay, and Saeed Roustayi.
The 78th edition will now include Ramsay’s “Die, My Love,” starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, in the competition. All the Scottish director’s previous films have premiered at Cannes; the dark martial comedy/horror is her first film since 2017’s “You Were Never Really Here” won the Cannes Best Screenplay prize. Here, Jennifer Lawrence plays a wife unraveling in the country, and married to Pattinson’s character. Lakeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte, and Sissy Spacek also star in this adaptation of Ariana Harwicz’s novel. Ramsay wrote the script with Enda Walsh and Alice Birch.
The film made it into Cannes just in time as hoped, and this means we’ll be seeing Lawrence and Pattinson standing in front of glittering flash bulbs on the Palais red carpet.

Easter might be the holiest of days in Christianity, but it certainly does not have the depth of quality films that Christmas brings. Perhaps because Christmas is much more commercialized than Easter, receiving gifts makes the anticipation even better. But the films? There are some great ones.
With Easter, people get a lot of bunnies and crucifixion-related films. Both can be worthy, but they have to be done just right. Things can, unfortunately, go wrong easily.
Thankfully, with the three movies that follow, a lot goes right. Once you're done with Easter egg hunting, you can turn on one of these films that are currently streaming on Netflix. Two are not made for children, though.

Demi Moore was a leading contender in this year’s Oscars after her brilliant award season run for The Substance. But Mikey Madison surprised many audiences after bagging the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in Anora.

However, Demi Moore, in a recent interview, revealed that she did not feel disappointed at her Oscar loss. The actress was apparently sure about Mikey Madison’s win.

Demi Moore said in a new interview with Time magazine that she was not devastated when she lost the Oscar for best actress to “Anora’s” Mikey Madison. In fact, Moore had such a strong gut feeling that Madison would prevail, she told her manager as much when the Oscars cut to commercial right before the best actress category was announced.
“I leaned over and whispered to my manager, ‘I think it’s going to Mikey,’” Moore said. “I don’t know why I knew, but I did. I was so centered and calm. I didn’t feel gutted. I didn’t feel any of those kinds of things. I just trusted, and am in trust of, whatever is going to unfold.”

It’s table stakes at this point to recognize that a significant portion of the eventual Best Picture field will launch at the Cannes Film Festival. Six of the 20 Best Picture nominees premiered on the French Riviera in the last two years. Last year’s Palme d’Or winner Anora became only the third Cannes champion to take the top award — but the second in five years after Parasite pulled off the gambit in 2020. (The only previous Palme d’Or champion to win Best Picture was 1955’s Marty.) That has made Cannes a significant step in awards season, despite its spring calendar placement — and with the Academy increasing its international membership annually, the importance of Cannes will only continue to grow.
So, which of this year’s potential premieres will carry through to next year’s Oscars ceremony? Ahead are the nine movies we hope make the cut when the...

After joining the MCU, creating a film production empire, and closing out his iconic tenure as “Magic Mike,” Channing Tatum is making yet another career pivot: leading legendary indie director Derek Cianfrance’s latest feature, “Roofman.”
Tatum stars as the titular vigilante who lived in a Toys ’R’ Us store and broke into more than 60 McDonald’s, emptying cash registers after herding staffs into freezers. The Roofman robber became an urban myth, and now it’s Tatum’s turn to bring his story to the screen. Tatum onstage at CinemaCon teased the footage and called him the “unusually polite” robber and said Cianfrance’s film is “equal parts devastatingly emotional but also hilarious.”
The trailer that was shown at CinemaCon described the film as “based on a true story *as told by a liar.” Tatum’s character explains that after escaping from prison, running as far away as possible doesn’t work.

CinemaCon’s distinguished decade of achievement in film award winner Channing Tatum took the Colosseum stage on Thursday to talk up his new film Roofman.
Tatum, who will accept the honor at the convention’s closing night Big Screen Achievement Awards, appeared during Paramount Pictures’ studio presentation at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Roofman, set for release on Oct. 3, comes from filmmaker Derek Cianfrance, who also wrote the script with Kirt Gunn.
Based on a true story, Roofman casts Tatum as a former Army Ranger and struggling father who turns to robbing McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, earning him the nickname “Roofman.” After escaping from prison, he starts a new life while hiding in a toy store, and falls in love with a single mother and her two daughters. However, his criminal past and a final robbery threaten to destroy his chance at redemption.

After 20 years in the business, there are a few things that Will Poulter has noticed about his public perception, and they’ve been coming up a lot lately. The first is that few people can accept the fact that he really is British. When he appeared in a surprise guest role on season two of The Bear as the soft-spoken and heavily tattooed English pastry chef Luca, his West London accent was so authentic, nobody believed it was real. He remembers getting a review in which the critic wrote “Will Poulter does his best attempt at a British accent …”
“People are also commenting on my height,” he goes on, referencing the second thing the public gets wrong about him. “Everyone says, ‘You’re taller than I thought you’d be.’ I never know what to say — I grew up short, and it very much formed my entire personality. So, I...

Channing Tatum first rose to fame thanks to his unbeatable dancing skills. Many of his hit films included dancing, like 2006's Step Up, or the Magic Mike franchise, where he was extremely fit.
Over the years, his acting credits featured more diverse roles than the aforementioned, but he continued to star in movies that required him to be in shape, including the role of Duke in the action films G.I. Joe, 2012's 21 Jump Street, and 2013's White House Down. He finally played his dream superhero role, Gambit, in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine. The actor has branched out to other roles since but revealed on Instagram that he wouldn't accept more "fat roles" after showing off his ripped physique.

When the world is falling apart, sometimes the only thing left to do is laugh - these films get it.
I saw Bong Joon-ho’s new movie over the weekend, “Mickey 17,” which can only be described as a sci-fi black comedy. It wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, but it was one of the most visually beautiful movies I’ve ever seen. If you want to check it out, definitely try to see it in theaters, as the small screen will not do this movie justice. Robert Pattinson is excellent as Mickey Barnes – who has one job: die. Again and again. As an ‘expendable’ on a deep-space colonization mission, he’s used to being replaced — until he refuses to go quietly, sparking a darkly comedic showdown between a man who won’t stay dead and the system that keeps trying to kill him. It’s a really great sci-fi premise,...

Exclusive: Black Label Media has taken rights to Patrick Hoffman’s debut crime novel The White Van to develop as a feature for filmmaker Grant Singer.
Singer and author Hoffman will team to adapt the novel together.
The project reunites Singer with Black Label Media on the heels of Reptile, his chart-topping Netflix feature debut starring Benicio Del Toro, which the company also produced. That movie premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.
The White Van is a kinetic heist thriller following a troubled young woman who is lured into a criminal scheme that leaves her wanted for bank robbery and hunted by a corrupt cop who doesn’t want justice – but wants the money for himself. Evoking crime novelists like Dennis Lehane and gritty seventies films like Dog Day Afternoon, the line between good and evil blurs as criminals, cops, and hustlers collide in the unforgiving underbelly of San Francisco.

Mark Wahlberg stars in Shane Black’s first film in seven years, the upcoming Play Dirty. Surprisingly, it’s getting an R rating.
Writer, producer, director and sometime actor Shane Black has left a potent mark on modern cinema, not least directing Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys. Furthermore, has a $1bn hit to his name with Iron Man 3, and his screenplays for the likes of Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout are quite something to do.
I want to start this story with the good stuff, as the last film that he made to date was 2018’s The Predator. I wasn’t fond of it at all, but still: since then, Shane Black has neither written nor directed a film, and that’s been seven years. He’s been away from the screen too long.

Known Associates Entertainment has acquired all African rights to Raoul Peck’s “Ernest Cole: Lost and Found,” the Cannes prize-winning documentary about the fearless apartheid-era South African photographer that opens the Joburg Film Festival on March 11.

It is no secret that Donald Glover has one of the most eclectic careers in Hollywood. Much of his work is rooted in comedy that dates back to the mid-2000s with the internet sketch comedy group Derrick Comedy, which led to landing a position on the writing staff of "30 Rock" and arguably his breakout role as high school quarterback turned Greendale Community College student Troy Barnes in "Community." Not to mention, Glover is arguably just as recognizable to the public for his Grammy-winning music career under his former stage name, Childish Gambino. But in a career filled with highlights that any creative would kill to accomplish at least once in their lifetime, perhaps no project defines Glover's modus operandi as an artist more than his acclaimed dramedy series, "Atlanta."

People like to say, “It’s never too early” to do something, but that’s not always true. For example, it’s too early to predict next year’s Academy Awards before this year’s Academy Awards. But the 2025 Oscars are over, so now it’s time to start making predictions about what films will contend for the Oscars next year.
It’s already looking like the 98th Academy Awards will have a stronger field than the 97th. Blue chip filmmakers are returning from long breaks with exciting casts in tow. Each Safdie brother has their own A24 sports drama. There’s a new Avatar movie. It’s going to be an exciting, unpredictable year.

Robert Pattinson definitely did not want to freestyle-dance for Lynne Ramsay’s “Die, My Love.”
Pattinson told GQ in a video (below) alongside “Mickey 17” writer/director Bong Joon Ho that he almost had a “mental breakdown” amid filming a dance sequence with his co-star Jennifer Lawrence. Pattinson pleaded with Ramsay to have the scene be removed from the script, or be choreographed instead.
“I did this movie with Lynne Ramsay, and she’s a really good dancer. And Jennifer Lawrence is a really good dancer. They just find it so easy. They’re like, ‘Just dance, it’s just music playing, just dance,'” Pattinson said. “I was like, ‘I’m going to have a mental breakdown when this happens. We need to either choreograph it or cut it.’ And they’re like, ‘No, just dance, stop being all freak.’ It came to the day, and I was sweating so much,...

All the actors listed voiced roles for the English dub versions of these shows and films, many of which you’ll recognize right off the bat. Here are 17 celebrities who rocked the mic as anime characters.

Filmmaker Spike Lee took to his Instagram account to give fans a first glimpse of his upcoming Highest 2 Lowest, a remake of Akira Kurosawa's classic film noir High and Low, starring Denzel Washington. In the post, Lee thanked "the judge and jury for the not guilty verdict," referring to rapper and Highest 2 Lowest co-star A$AP Rocky's acquittal on felony assault charges on Feb. 18, 2025.
Alongside the caption, Lee shared a still of Rocky from the film, wearing what appears to be an orange prison uniform. Very little is know about the project other than it's a "reinterpretation of the great Kurosawa," according to Lee (via Variety). The original film, High and Low, follows Kingo Gondo (frequent Kurosawa collaborator Toshiro Mifune), a wealthy shoe company executive whose chauffeur's son is mistakenly kidnapped and ransomed for 30 million yen.

Kristen Stewartis about to get stoned. The actress and producer has co-written a wild stoner buddy comedy with her fiancée, the actress and writer Dylan Meyer, called The Wrong Girls. Better yet? The film is already in production in Los Angeles — making it one of the first independent films to begin shooting in LA since the catastrophic wildfires struck the city. Meyer is directing the film, which will also star Alia Shawkat and Seth Rogen.
The multi-hyphenated Stewart recently spoke with IndieWire about bringing the project to life, and it sounds like an episode of Broad City writ large (which is a huge compliment coming from this particular writer). According to Iw's reporting, the supporting cast will also feature the comedic talents of Kumail Nanjiani, Lakeith Stanfield, Zack Fox, and Tony Hale. When speaking about the project, Stewart asserted her enthusiasm for the project, noting that she is "doing backflips" about it going into production,...

At its heart, Sundance is about discovery. Some of our brightest, biggest filmmaking stars — we’re talking Steven Soderbergh, Richard Linklater, Ava DuVernay, Paul Thomas Anderson, Lulu Wang, Ryan Coogler, Aubrey Plaza, Catherine Hardwicke, Todd Haynes, Tessa Thompson, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Eggers, the Duplass brothers, Michael B. Jordan, Amy Adams, Elizabeth Olsen, Brie Larson, Lakeith Stanfield, Miles Teller, Anya Taylor-Joy, and many, many more — first rose to acclaim by bringing their work to Sundance.
In 2025, a year that was long-heralded as one all about new discoveries, that tradition only continued. While this year’s lineup included a number of returning names, like Ira Sachs, Amy Berg, Andrew Ahn, Justin Lin, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, Cooper Raiff, Kahlil Joseph, Heidi Ewing & Rachel Grady, David France, Jesse Short Bull, Ryan White, Sophie Hyde, Jesse Moss & Amanda McBaine, Meera Menon, and Clint Bentley, there were also a hefty number of newbies joining those filmmaking ranks.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson has a response for anyone who still wants to tell him that the franchise “ruined the vampire genre.”
In an interview with GQ Spain, the soon-to-be Mickey-17 star shared how he deals with this opinion almost two decades after the first film arrived.
“I love that people keep telling me, ‘Man, ‘Twilight’ ruined the vampire genre,’” Pattinson said in the interview, translated by Variety. “Are you still stuck on that shit? How can you be sad about something that happened almost 20 years ago? It’s crazy.”
Pattinson’s career took off after he portrayed Edward Cullen in the five films based on Stephanie Meyer’s books, starring alongside Kristen Stewart’s love interest and main character Bella Swan. The first film of the franchise arrived in 2008.

With critical and box office hits like 2022’s “Nope” and the new theatrical release “One of Them Days,” Keke Palmer is stepping into her star-era, and according to her, it’s been a long time coming.
In a recent interview with The Cut, Palmer reflected on her time as a child actress in films like “Akeelah and the Bee” and the Nickelodeon show “True Jackson, VP.” While many of her peers received a great deal of attention of similar work, Palmer always felt a bit ignored.
“I wasn’t necessarily in the same conversations as Victoria Justice or Selena Gomez or Miley Cyrus at that time,” she said. “It was very much ‘That’s the Black show’ or ‘That’s Keke Palmer, the Black girl on the network.’”
At the time, Palmer was only 15, so this was not only hard to understand, but to cope with emotionally.

Keegan-Michael Key is shaping up for a busy 2025 as he has two dream projects currently in development.
The Emmy winner said he “has a good feeling” about what this year has in store while teasing an upcoming sports project and another in the action genre. “We’ll see how it goes,” he added.
“I don’t know how to answer without saying things I can’t say. If only I could tell you,” Key told People.
“I have two projects in development that I’m very excited about,” he noted. “Both are checks on my bucket list. One goes in the sports world direction and one goes in the action direction, which is very different than a lot of the work that I have done in the past.”
In March, Deadline announced Key was cast in the Amazon MGM Studios crime thriller Play Dirty, based on Donald E. Westlake’s Parker novels.

So much so that it is hard to see one without the other, and Chadwick Boseman is one such actor. Having achieved global stardom with his portrayal of Black Panther in the MCU, the actor tragically lost his life to colon cancer in 2020.
