Larry Tamblyn, founding member and keyboardist for the pioneering garage rock band the Standells, has died at the age of 82.

Tamblyn’s nephew Dennis first confirmed his uncle’s March 21 death on social media, with the Standells also announcing Larry’s death on Facebook; no cause of death was provided.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, Steven Spielberg‘s Jaws is returning to the big screen!

The TCM Classic Film Festival will host the first Jaws screening of the year with a special 50th anniversary presentation in April, followed by a nationwide theatrical re-release from August 29 through September 4 via Universal.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will kick off its summer-long Jaws celebration over Memorial Day weekend in May, hosting screenings featuring a special menu and fun props along with limited-edition popcorn buckets and merchandise.

A special Jaws on the Water screening will take place on June 21 as part of the Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, where the film was shot. Additional Jaws on the Water screenings will occur at Lake Travis in Austin, Texas, in June and July.

Although it doesn't delve into the backstory of every character that's involved, the trilogy takes audiences on an adventure with exciting and often terrifying fictional creations. Some of these are part of Sauron's evil mission, whilst others are in support of defending Middle-earth. The mix of beings may make Tolkien's world surreal, but they also add to the depth and history of his design.

Exciting new Doctor Who novels are set to release this May, bringing fresh adventures for the Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, and his upcoming companion, Belinda Chandra, played by Varada Sethu. Fans can look forward to two thrilling stories, Fear Death by Water by Emily Cook and Spectral Scream by Hannah Fergesen, both releasing on May 29th, 2025. These novels will be available in hardback and audiobook formats (both CD and digital).

The first novel, Fear Death by Water, takes the Doctor and a group of survivors to Northumberland in 1838. The Tardis crashes onto a sinking steamship, and the Doctor and the others must fight to survive. Meanwhile, Grace Darling, the daughter of the local lighthouse keeper, risks her life to rescue them.

Though Grace is celebrated as a heroine for her bravery, she is haunted by a terrifying vision of a sea monster that she saw during the storm.

The first two "Dune" novels, which are currently two-thirds of the way through being adapted into a movie trilogy, are often seen as a tragic condemnation of hero worship. Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet in the recent films) starts off likeable, but by the time he becomes emperor of the universe the reader/viewer should already be wondering if he's fit for the job. This whole jihad/holy war he's doing sure gives us the ick, especially in "Dune: Messiah" when Book Paul casually mentions how his regime has killed far more people than Hitler ever did. I for one believe that killing sixty billion people is wrong, and you can quote me on that.

But the "Dune" series wouldn't be that interesting if Paul was a straightforward bad guy, which is why the common claim that "Dune" is a clear-cut critique of the savior narrative misses the mark.

Imagine this: You’ve been documenting your favorite albums throughout the year and you are ready to write your Top 10 list, but then that artist who never makes bad music decides to bless us with a surprise release in the fourth quarter.

The metrics are in, and the 31st Billboard Music Awards has honored the year’s most listened-to artists, albums, songs, producers and songwriters.

Making history with most career wins at 49 total, Taylor Swift swept Thursday’s awards show with 10 wins, including Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist and Top Billboard 200 album for The Tortured Poets Department.

Zach Bryan followed with five wins, and Morgan Wallen won four categories. Shaboozey, Bad Bunny, Drake and Elevation Worship each won three awards.

Meanwhile, Chappell Roan was crowned Top New Artist, and fans officially declared Beyoncé as Top Female Country Artist after her album debut in the genre with Cowboy Carter.

The Dutton family civil war in Yellowstone breaks out into open warfare in the official trailer for the second half of season five.

“I can’t do this anymore,” anxious cattle rancher’s daughter Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly, says at one point in the trailer. “Well, you’re gonna have to, honey. Or we’re gonna lose this place,” her ranch hand husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), warns her as the Paramount Network drama makes its long-awaiting return after the first five episodes of season five ended back in January 2023.

“This war is just beginning,” says Kevin Costner, who is not returning after his high-profile exit from the Yellowstone ranch as John Dutton, and yet appears very much in the trailer in scenes likely to wrap his character. In a major cast disruption, Costner left the show after the fifth season hiatus for Yellowstone, partly to focus on his Horizon film saga.

The fantastic world of Pokmon is filled with many wondrous creatures of many shapes, sizes, and types. Water-type Pokmon are one of the first types the player will meet on their journey, with one being a starter to begin their adventure with. These creatures are very common to find in the wild as well, usually dwelling near lakes, rivers, and the ocean.

In the beautiful Johto region, several Water-type Pokmon remain beloved and utilized in battle to this day. Each Johtonian Water-type has their own unique charm and special skillset, depending on what sort of ally the player needs during their journey. These Pokmon are also extremely common in the anime as well, especially as Ash travels with Water-type Trainer Misty, who also befriends many new Water-type friends in Johto. No matter the Pokmon, there is a Water-type in Johto for any fan.

Tyla is super-sizing her self-titled debut album!

The “Water” superstar surprised fans on Monday (October 7), announcing that Tyla (Deluxe) will hit streaming services on Friday (October 11).

The deluxe version will include three new songs: “Shake Ah” featuring Tony Duardo, Optimist, and Maestro, “Push 2 Start,” and “Back To You.”

Indian animator Triparna Maiti’s feature project “Mangal – The Holy Beast” has been selected for the Busan Asian Project Market. The film project spotlights the plight of captive elephants through animation.

It follows the life of Mangal, an elephant calf captured from the wild and forced into circus life, logging work, and eventually becoming a temple elephant. Through Mangal’s journey, the film explores themes of captivity, animal rights and the psyche of confined elephants.

Maiti, whose animated short “Neer” (Water) played at festivals including Anifilm and Monstra, chose this subject after encountering captive elephants in Kerala, southern India. The filmmaker experienced discomfort at the irony of how such powerful animals could be confined to human conditioning. Maiti also attended the annual Thrissur Pooram festival where elephants are front and center.
