Wondering how all the DC universe TV spin-offs, crossovers and webseries fit together? We have the answer...
In October 2012, Us network The CW launched the first season of Arrow, after wrapping up no fewer than ten seasons of Superman origin show Smallville a year before. Arrow was a completely new take on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, in a new universe that had nothing to do with Smallville or its version of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. The series proved quite the hit for The CW, and a second season renewal inevitably followed. In season two, we were introduced to forensic scientist Barry Allen, better known to DC Comics readers as The Flash. Arrow got a third season, The Flash got his own TV show with great success, and the live action shared DC Comics universe on TV was born. And with it the question: how does it all fit together?...

The latest Supergirl episode explores what Kara lost before coming to Earth, and is one of the show's strongest yet...
This review contains spoilers.
1.13 For The Girl Who Has Everything
The producers of Supergirl made a lot of the fact that Kara is an immigrant before the show premiered and, although this element hasn't been exactly ignored since then, it hasn't been a particular focus either. Kara's relationship with her family is complicated primarily because, while she certainly considers the Danvers as kin, she has a whole other family that she knew, loved and lost.
This isn't like Superman and the Kents, who raised him from a toddler to adulthood. Kara is always going to be split between two cultures, separated from both by the time she spent away.
So Krypton and its inhabitants are a trigger for our heroine that the show should be careful about pulling.

Supergirl is developing a villain as entertaining to watch as its heroes, as Bizarro proves...
This review contains spoilers.
1.12 Bizarro
Love is hard, especially when you're a superhero. You might want to date the cute new guy who happens to be your boss's long-lost son, and stay friends with the It guy who keeps moaning about how he's been 'friendzoned', but then there's also the hunky photographer who knows all of your secrets but is inconveniently dating your cousin's sister-in-law. It's complicated, and evil doppelgangers just throw yet another spanner in the works.
That's basically this episode in a nutshell, with a pretty serious storyline about Maxwell Lord basically abusing young girls until they become fractured, evil opposites of Kara aired alongside another game of musical chairs featuring Kara and her many admirers. Adam likes Kara, Winn likes Kara and James has finally admitted that he also likes Kara.

This review contains spoilers.
1.11 Strange Visitor From Another Planet
As with most Berlanti projects on the air right now, Supergirl has predominantly been about family in its first season. This week, we take a break from analysing what Kara's biological and adoptive family means to her and her destiny, and instead focus on two of the guys on the show. First, we learn more about the tragic backstory of the Martian Manhunter and, second, it's time for Cat Grant's long-lost son to arrive on the scene.
After hearing about Cat's regret regarding her son and witnessing her repeatedly try and fail to reach out to him, Kara decides that the most helpful thing to do is to finish one of the letters Cat theoretically intended to...

This review contains spoilers.
1.10 Childish Things
Though it started shakily, Supergirl has been doing a really good job lately of identifying its strongest elements and building on them, nailing the threat-of-the-week structure and putting character before action as much as it can. That trend continued in Childish Things, which may have been the best example yet of how much it's grown in just a few weeks.
It's a Winn-centric hour, which is something I've been clamouring for since we started. Jeremy Jordan is very good in everything, but Supergirl just hadn't made use of the actor or the character as it should have, preferring to focus our attention elsewhere while he acted just as convenient tech saviour and pining love rival to James. Now, however, he feels like a real character at last.

This review contains spoilers.
9.9 Blood Bonds
Secret identities are dumb. Well, they serve a purpose in-universe when there are legitimate threats against a hero's nearest and dearest but, as a narrative tool? They're dumb. Over the course of Blood Bonds, said identity was disappointingly shoved back in the bottle, and Cat Grant remains none the wiser about Supergirl's civilian name and face, thus rendering one of the best bits of the show's mid-season finale completely pointless.
It's not dissimilar from Arrow's decision to have Quentin arrest Oliver for his alleged vigilante ways surprisingly early in its first season, thus plausibly throwing off suspicion for the character most likely to go on a witch hunt later on. Here, at least, more or less everyone knows the truth,...

An active crime scene goes on lockdown as Peter Facinelli's Maxwell Lord and Chyler Leigh's Alex argue over what just happened in the first of three new clips from the Supergirl midseason premiere. The show returns to CBS in just a few short days, with all-new episodes kicking off January 4. The second clip has Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant being very accusatory towards Kara, because she knows the superhero's big secret. The third and final clip has Non trying to discover Martian Manhunter's own deep, dark secrets.
With Astra in captivity at the Deo, her husband, Non (Chris Vance) captures Hank, leading to a tense standoff between the two sides. Also, Kara continues to refute Cat's allegations that she is Supergirl in the all-new episode Blood Bonds. Supergirl fans were left with a big reveal in the fall finale Hostile Takeover earlier this month, when David Harewood's Hank Henshaw revealed that he was none other than the Martian Manhunter. With the holiday hiatus winding down, the series is getting ready to return with the midseason premiere Blood Bonds, with CBS releasing a trailer featuring new footage. The video offers our first brief glimpse at a new character, the DC Comics villain Non, portrayed by Chris Vance.
In Blood Bonds, Astra (Laura Benanti), the evil twin sister of Kara's mother Alura, is being held in captivity at the Deo. Her husband Non has captured Hank, leading to a tense standoff between the two sides. Kara also continues to refute Cat's allegations that she is Supergirl. We see in this new trailer that Cat believes, "beyond a shadow of a doubt," that Kara is in fact Supergirl. This...

After a shaky start, Supergirl has started to really figure out what type of show it is, to the delight of patient fans...
This review contains spoilers.
1.8 Hostile Takeover
Few things are perfect right out of the gate, and even fewer things have the amount of expectations Supergirl had on its shoulders from its first episode. This show hasn't offered the grim nuance of Jessica Jones or even the giddy joy of The Flash, but at least it's managed to do something different. We're in an age where it's almost impossible to watch every comic book-themed show on television, let alone everything on offer to geek audiences right now, and I feel like Supergirl can't be faulted for finding its own niche and sticking to it.

After much trepidation ahead of its debut, CBS’ Supergirl has now reached its mid-season break. Safe to say, the show has been solid, if not spectacular.
Throughout the first half of the Melissa Benoist-starrer, many a question has been thrown up. Keeping with tradition, that was exactly the same with this latest outing, Hostile Takeover.
With Kara’s evil aunt Astra turning up at the end of the previous episode, that serves as a main focal point of this entry. What’s particularly interesting about this strand of Hostile Takeover is that it gives us a rare glimpse into the final days of Krypton and the relationship between a young Kara and her beloved aunt. Obviously, by this point in the game things are a little different in the modern day, what with Astra now intent of seemingly cleansing Earth.
Elsewhere, we find Cat Co in turmoil as...

The winter finale of Supergirl was the show at its very best. That means, as you can probably guess, there was a lot of Cat Grant. Cat wasn't the only good thing about Supergirl in "Hostile Takeover" however. There was a surprisingly interesting story to be told as Kara went up against her maybe not-so-evil aunt Astra again. Kara had to confront some harsh truths about her late mother and Astra revealed herself to be a smidge more intriguing that we all originally thought. Here are some of the best quotes from one of Supergirl's best episodes "Hostile Takeover."...

How a show with such a clearly drawn main character fails so greatly in focusing on a specific theme or story every week is truly baffling. It’s a telling sign about how badly Supergirl needs to work on its focus that an episode objectively about how Kara deals with not having powers on a day when National City goes through a massive crisis barely deals with that subject at all. “Human For A Day” is instead content to look towards a plethora of other action that barely has to do with Kara, if at all. “Hostile Takeover” too is more focused on the titular hero for only a fraction of the time,...

Hot on the heels of an episode that got everyone talking, expectations are high for the winter finale of Supergirl, which happens to be titled “Hostile Takeover.” The episode will see Kara go toe-to-toe with her villainous aunt, Astra, and follow Cat Grant as she deals with a hacking scandal, which seems highly reminiscent of what was going on in the world a year ago at this time. Fans should also keep their eyes peeled as Chris Vance will debut as Non, a villain everyone should remember from Superman II.

CBS has today released the first details about the upcoming eighth episode of Supergirl, and it points to some more surprising twists and turns down the line for Kara Danvers. The description also confirms that Astra will be making a return, a character we haven’t actually seen since the second episode when Supergirl clashed with her for the first time.
Here’s the official synopsis for the episode, which is titled “Hostile Takeover”:
Kara goes toe-to-toe with Astra when her aunt challenges Kara’s beliefs about her mother. Also, Cat is threatened with being removed as the CEO of CatCo after a hacker exposes her private and damaging emails, on Supergirl, Monday, Dec. 14 (8:00-9:00 Pm, Et/Pt) on the CBS Television Network.
Perhaps the most intriguing thing here is the mention of Cat Grant’s “damaging” emails. What could she be hiding that’s so bad?...

When Jamal closed that door on Cookie last week, shivers went down my spine because I was hoping that that would begin his descent into Corleone-dom. And in this episode, when he rolled up in a big black car and told Hakeem to get in, when he was going to become an uncle, when Lucious lost his voice and was doing his best Brando impression, I thought we were in for a full-scale Godfather homage. However, Jamal never was vicious in this episode and Lucious’ jaw remained unpuffy. There’s still time yet for a montage of people being brutally murdered as Jamal stands at Andre’s baby’s baptism. We kick off this week’s episode with a slickly executed montage of phone calls where everyone in Cookie and the Hostile Takeover Gang is planning something, but not telling everyone exactly what they’re planning. The phone call montage...

Over the past four months, as the $WWE stock price has soared, rumors have swirled about World Wrestling Entertainment. There has been wild speculation on the value of the new domestic TV Rights deals and how many people have signed up for the WWE Network. They’ve even been wild gossip involving a merger or takeover. (As explained below, this is really baseless – Vince McMahon controls the company’s voting shares so there can’t be a hostile takeover.)
The concept of WWE being run by someone who wasn’t in the McMahon family might feel like anathema to wrestling fans. Still, consider how many times we’ve seen Vince McMahon driven by his personal preferences and random whims. Think about the failing projects that have continued – just out of a perverse desire to “stick it” to his critics.

If you had said a year ago that a TV show about Green Arrow would become one of the most popular superhero shows in television history, few people probably would’ve believed you. And yet that’s exactly what happened – since the premiere of Arrow on The CW last year, the show has fast become one of network’s biggest hits, thanks in no small part to writer/producer Marc Guggenheim and star Stephen Amell.
With the season 2 premiere only a few weeks away,we’re starting to see more and more publicity images for the upcoming episodes, like this shot of Michael Jai White as Bronze Tiger. And today ...

They may not be household names like their A-list colleagues, but the actors on this list have appeared in some of our all-time favourite geek movies...
Some actors dabble in sci-fi; others dip their toe into fantasy; some may even make an appearance in the odd horror film - all before returning to the safety of the genres in which they feel more comfortable - perhaps a nice, award-chasing period drama, or a well-paid romantic comedy.
A-listers may see the geeky films that we on this site enjoy and celebrate as fun little side-projects, but there are actors out there who commit full-time to these types of movies. It is high time, therefore, that we credited these individuals with the recognition they deserve.
Besides the stipulation that, in order to be included, an actor had to still be alive and working today, there were no strict criteria that had to...

There's a party at Tony Enright's (Paul Blackthorne) mansion and one woman is attacked, Jesse's (Eddie Cibrian) 'friend' Anna, (Mini Anden) whilst another is killed inside. Nosferatu (1922) plays on TV. Horatio (David Caruso) knows who Tony is and what he did in La. (Hence the title.) Tony was acquitted of his wife's murder. He has ink on his hand and the woman was killed with a pen. He's a pornographer. Horatio: "Well then roll credits, that's a wrap." Walter (Omar Miller) wonders what kind of party this was. Calleigh (Emily Procter) checks out the murder weapon. Walter finds a bug, someone listened in to the murder. Anna tells Natalia (Eva Larue) the Vic was in Tony's films. Natalia recalls Anna from before (episode ??) Anna doesn't see Jesse as a friend and says he stalked her all the way from La because of Tony. But that was for her own good.

Fuquay-varina - It was a speedy two days with major stars dropping into my neighborhood.
On a Thursday night the man who made predicted FedEx arrived at a Durham library. Mister McFeely (David Newell) still fits in his Speedy Delivery uniform and hat as he greeted Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood fans of all ages. Most of the ages were under seven. Luckily I had brought along a little kid in order not to stick out.
McFeely was at the end of a weeklong tour around the state to touch base with the kids. Lately whenever any star of kid focused tv shows comes to town, it’s part of some over inflated media spectacular stage show at the sports arena. There’s singing, dancing, indoor fireworks and motorcycle stunts meant to dazzle a three year old. Plus there’s a $18 convenience charge on the tickets. But this was not McFeely’s type of entertainment.
