During the early '90s, there were few TV actresses hotter in Hollywood than Lara Flynn Boyle. After a handful of supporting credits in the late '80s in movies like "Poltergeist III" and shows like "Amerika," Boyle landed a main cast role as Donna Hayward on David Lynch and Mark Frost's genre-bending supernatural mystery series "Twin Peaks." When the show quickly became a pop culture sensation, Boyle was launched to stardom, and she got plenty of opportunities to show off her talents in the show's first season, where Donna is particularly central to the plot.
In the wake of her "Twin Peaks" fame, Boyle appeared in a number of prominent movies through the early '90s, playing Stacy in "Wayne's World" and co-starring in the 1992 Matthew Modine film "Equinox," among others. She was also a prominent face in celebrity news through the decade, dating other stars like "Twin Peaks" castmate Kyle MacLachlan,...

Being the "Sexiest Man Alive" has already changed Dwayne Johnson's life!
On Friday, the Baywatch star stopped by the Today show, where he joked about his sexiness and revealed how his friends reacted to him receiving People magazine's coveted title.
“My buddies have not stopped giving me a hard time," Johnson admitted to Matt Lauer. "But here's the thing: When they give you a hard time, they're jealous...know what I'm sayin'?"

Coming to AMC this Sunday and to Amazon Prime Video this Monday, we anticipate Preacher's conversion from comic to TV show...
To borrow a phrase from Zoolander, Garth Ennis is so hot right now. Much like Mark Millar a couple of years ago, creative types and studio bods seem to be champing at the bit to develop the Northern Irish writer’s work: the recent Netflix take on Marvel’s Punisher character was clearly drawn from his seminal Max run and proved so popular that a solo series now seems to be in the works. Ennis’ sex’n’violence subversive superhero deconstruction, The Boys is also on the way to TV but most notably, Preacher, the iconic title that made Ennis’ name and helped to shape the landscape of 90s comic books premieres this very Sunday on AMC. If you’ve never thought about Carson and Mrs. Hughes having sex, Sunday’s Downton Abbey season premiere probably came as a bit of a shock.

Let's get one thing straight before we begin. Bill Murray is the King. There are better actors. There are people who have better filmographies. There are even funnier people, although not many. But Bill Murray is, all things, considered, the King. I've dedicated much of the last 45 years working this out scientifically, and I am prepared to finally share the findings with you, free of charge, right here at HitFix. Ostensibly, we're doing this because of this weekend's release of "Rock The Kasbah," but that's just an excuse. The truth is that it's important that we rank all 55 of Bill Murray's film performances, with a special focus on the top 25. We are not including his television work here. There are films on this list we have not seen, but not many. We decided to leave those films unranked, so here is that list: Unranked "The Hat Act" "Pass The Buck: Expo '74...

From John McNaughton, director of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, comes The Harvest, his first feature film since 2001's Speaking of Sex. The film concerns a couple in a small community who keep their child separated from the outside world. But, when a teenage girl moves into the house next door, some doubt is cast on the family's motivation for the seclusion.
On the surface the plot is dead simple and the majority of the film takes place in the small area of two properties side-by-side. There are twists, yes, a big revelation you sort of see coming, but the film packs a larger emotional punch, brought to life by two veteran actors Samantha Morton and Michael Shannon.

Seth MacFarlane's latest hard-r comedy, "A Million Ways to Die in the West" will undoubtedly appeal to teen (and dare we say tween?) fans of his raunchy-for-primetime animated shows "Family Guy" and "American Dad," but obviously the western is not intended for kids. In case you're wavering on letting your teen see it, here are 10 highlights of the movie's many shocking moments (spoilers ahead).
1. Scandalous shadows: In the opening scene, MacFarlane's character Albert gets out of a pistol duel by making a series of jokes, including showing off how his rival's shadow looks like it's fellating his shadow. "Why thank you," Albert tells his nemesis. Shadows that give blow jobs -- who knew?
2. Let's talk about sex: Speaking of sex (and there is a lot of that in this movie, even though there are no actual sex scenes), one of the supporting characters, Ruth (Sarah Silverman), is the town of Old Stump,...

After her successful stint in 2007, Ellen DeGeneres returned last night to host her second Academy Awards ceremony.
Her deadpan delivery wasn't to everyone's taste, but we were big fans here at Digital Spy.

1. We think bitchy Nebraska matriarch Kate Grant would love this
"June Squibb is nominated for Nebraska. At 84 years old, she is the oldest nominee. She was wonderful in Nebraska. *shouts in Squibb's direction* "I'm Telling Everyone That You Were Wonderful In Nebraska - The Film You Did Was Wonderful!"
2. After Arrested Development, we hope Liza didn't take this too badly

Whether or not you liked Ellen DeGeneres' second hosting of the 2014 Academy Awards, she had some great moments. Here are 20 of her best Oscar jokes, ranging from costume choices to pizza.
Note: These moments are listed in chronological order, because ranking them would be far too difficult.
1. On Los Angeles' weather over the weekend: "It has been a tough couple of days for us here: It has been raining. We're fine. Thank you for your prayers."
2. Referring to Liza Minnelli's attendance at the show: "One of the most amazing Liza Minnelli impersonators I have ever seen in my entire life. Good job, sir."
3. "If people don't have those things, well then, people usually get into show business. One big, frightened family is what we have here."
4. On Meryl Streep's record-setting 18th nomination: "Simply put, Meryl cannot afford to be nominated again."
5. "Who are we kidding, it's the Hunger Games.

Looking, Season 1, Episode 5: “Looking for the Future”
Directed by Andrew Haigh
Written by Andrew Haigh & Michael Lannon
Airs Sundays at 10:30 Pm on HBO
When Looking premiered five weeks ago it was purportedly the story of Patrick, Dom, and Agustín’s friendship. This bottle episode, following Patrick’s day-long date with Richie, posits that this burgeoning romance is actually the central relationship of the show. “Looking for the Future” shows the awkwardness and passion of new love and all of its flirting, disclosing, playing it cool, and wanting to spend every minute with the new person in your life.
Patrick is obviously falling for Richie. There’s a small time jump since the last episode, and we’re brought back to the action after they’ve been dating at least a couple weeks. (Richie mentions that he’s stayed over at Patrick’s house three times.) Patrick is slowly becoming more comfortable around Richie.

Horror fans love to discuss, debate, and disagree; however, one thing we all seem to be in agreement on is that we can't get enough of NBC's "Hannibal"! Here are a few tidbits of what's ahead in Season 2.
Yesterday we took part in roundtable interviews with series star Hugh Dancy (Will Graham), creator/showrunner Bryan Fuller, director/exec producer David Slade, and exec producer Martha De Laurentiis at San Diego Comic-Con. They couldn't divulge a lot of details, but we did learn enough to whet our appetites even more for the continuing adventures of Dr. Lecter and Will.
Slade kicked things off by discussing the look and tone of the show, which he attributes to Fuller being such a visual writer. Bryan gives them all the pieces to create a mini-horror movie each week; his and the other directors' job is to ground it in reality. All the episodes are...

What a comeback. It's a shame that the previous seven episodes of Bunheads Season 1 weren't as fulfilling as "Next!," as I think it would have strengthened the chances of renewal.
Mind you, I have no idea what the chances of renewal are, but this was a stand out finale filled with warmth, humor and incredible emotion. Sadly, we've been light on hours showcasing what this show can really produce.
Let's start by talking about Milly and Truly. We've finally seen some growth there! Just when I thought Milly was going to continue to be completely useless. I mean, she was talking about getting a job for Truly on an assembly line or pouring concrete. It was hard to believe she'd never thought about investing in her sister's talent.
As strange as Truly is, the one thing that cannot be argued is her ability to throw together a fashion for the...

Before we crack open the recapping on a new season of Spartacus: War of the Damned, permit me just a brief moment to pause, reflect, and remember the fallen hottie who has been lost to us. Yes, I eulogize you, Gaius Hottius Glaber, sexiest stud in all of Capua. Woe betide those, like me, who will not have your magnificent buns of steel to obsess over during this new season of mayhem, evisceration, decapitation, de-limbing, de-legging, de-kidneying, and manly bonding. And please, my fellow mourners, let our sadness only be salved by the fact that there are those amongst who have taken glorious screencaps of beautiful Gaius’ most electrifying on-screen moments, so that we may relive them over and over (and over and over and over.) Let us be thankful that, on the internet, the past truly never dies (does it, Manti Te’o?). Amen, praise to Jupiter, Isis, and whoever.

Guess who's back!
Lucky for fans of The Lying Game, "Advantage Sutton" has two answers for that question. After all, double the fun is the motto on this ABC Family show.
Let's start with our favorite twosome. Sutton has been frothing at the mouth to "get her life back" from Emma. You know, the one she forced Emma to take. With Rebecca's blessing this week, Sutton put her plans into motion.
Rebecca needed more of an in at the Mercer household so she sent her bored, horny and troublemaking daughter back for recon. We all know that Sutton is up for the challenge. Ted is just not interested in any word that a woman has to say, so of course sending in one of his daughters is the best move. Seriously, Rebecca actually has no leg to stand on right now. I've never seen a guy less interested than Ted is in her.

The year was 1998, and the movie was "Wild Things." The trashy sexploitation movie wasn't exactly the best reviewed film of the year, but thanks to some girl-on-girl action, a menage a trois and enough double entendres for a singles mixer, it became a cult favorite, spawning a number of direct-to-dvd sequels. So why has director John McNaughton not made any features since 2001's forgotten comedy "Speaking Of Sex"? (Maybe we just answered our own question). While his return behind the camera won't be heralded with the same acclaim or anticipation as Lynne Ramsay's or Terrence Malick's, at least two excellent actors are eager to see if he's still got it. Michael Shannon and Samantha Morton will star in McNaughton's first feature in eleven years, "The Harvest." But those hoping for more sleaze might be disappointed. Penned by Stephen Lancellotti, the story will follow a married couple with medical backgrounds,...

Director John McNaughton has been gone from the feature world for a good long time. Starting as a rising talent in Hollywood back in the mid-80s, the filmmaker made a name for himself with titles like Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer and Wild Things, but after directing the romantic comedy Speaking of Sex in 2001 he disappeared from theaters. While he has used his time since well, moving his career to television where he worked on shows like Without A Trace, Johnny From Cincinnati and Masters of Horror, he is finally ready to give films another go and has announced his newest project. Variety has learned that McNaughton will break his 11-year streak without making a movie by signing on for the psychological horror project The Harvest. While the project will be operating with a small budget, being made for under $10 million, the director has already has a great...

Michael Shannon, Samantha Morton, and Natasha Calis have joined the cast of The Harvest, Wild Things director John McNaughton's first movie since 2002's Speaking of Sex.
The story, written by Stephen Lancellotti, centers on two parents (Michael Shannon and Samantha Morton) who live in a secluded environment with their ailing son (Charlie Tahan). When a young girl (Natasha Calis) moves in next door, it gives the boy hope for a better life, much to the chagrin of his over-protective mother. Leslie Lyles and Meadow Williams also star.
Here's what the director had to say about the screenplay, indirectly referring to his controversial 1986 directorial debut Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.
"This is the first horror script I've been interested in in 25 years, so it's kind of cool to return to the genre."
Production is currently under way in New York, with Kim Jose, Dave Robinson, Meadow Williams, and Steven A. Jones producing.

In 2003, William James Murray (better known to those who haven't spent hours reading his Wikipedia page as Bill Murray) starred in Sofia Coppola's "Lost in Translation," a poignant, somber romantic comedy that spotlighted the budding relationship between an aging film star (Murray) and the lonely wife of a photographer (Scarlett Johansson) in Tokyo. Welcome back! Who wants some turkey bacon? Not the dead guy who keeled over while eating a low-fat breakfast meat substitute at the Division One Café. One word Yelp review: Killer.
Scene: Morning at the Isles Estates. Boston Police homicide detective Jane Rizzoli slowly sips coffee in the kitchen in her pajamas. Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Maura Isles emerges from the bedroom in a silky nightgown and matching robe. They are both rumpled and tired from spending the night together.
I’m not even making that up. That is what happens in the opening scene between Jane and Maura. They’re together. In pajamas. After spending the night together. I think I have to stop writing these Subtext Recaps because this isn’t subtext anymore.
Jane hands Maura a cup of coffee, which she promptly spits out. Instant coffee, what is this communist Russia?...

This week's The Secret Life of the American Teenager was all about "Girlfriends."Not the kind you date, the kind you bond with, share gossip with and spill your feelings to.
Amy encouraged Kathy to make some pals outside of Ethan. Making friends isn't always the easiest task, but Kathy did pretty well for herself. They may not be the nicest girls, but, hey, teenagers can be sassy. C'est la vie!
Was this episode so "friend" heavy because normal Secret Life is all about raging hormones and sex? Maybe Brenda Hampton and the writers got the memo that they drop the word "sex" about 50 times an episode? And when that got tired they subbed in the word "gay." Maybe they thought they'd go back to basics and just explore "friends."
I'm actually interested in them delving into other friendships on this show. For years it was just Amy, Lauren and...

It’s official, for the second weekend in a row Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is the number one movie at the box office. So, do you have an appetite for more simian stories? How about a documentary on the true life experiment that may have inspired the fantasy story of Caesar and the ape uprising (but there’s no experimental Alzheimer’s drugs involved here). Film maker James Marsh (Man On A Wire) takes us back to the early 1970′s in his new work Project Nim for the story of Nim Chimpsky and the humans who interacted with him. I think this true tale is just as compelling as anything a screenwriter might dream up.
In 1973 baby Nim was forcibly taken from the arms of his mother, after she had been shot with a tranquilizer dart, at a Us primate research facility. He would be part of...

Q: After seeing Blaine chase Kurt around the room in Glee’s “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” Christmas episode number, I said to my close friend/ex that I would "let Blaine chase me around that room for days on end," and his response was, "See, I'm more of the person who'd be doing the chasing." I'm 5' 9'' and 130 lbs, and more than one person has referred to me as a "twink" (a word which I find to be derogatory and demeaning). What confuses me is that my instinct to be chased by Blaine does not follow with him dominating me, but the complete opposite. I am always attracted to the most butch, athletic, tall, hyper-masculine guys around me because I want to ravish them. Is that weird?...

Am I the only one who has no idea what is happening on this show right now? After we nearly had to have a green card wedding to keep Luc in the country, his Visa poof! magically came through in last night's episode. "Kiss me. I'm legal," he told Sarah. Because he looks good shirtless in her satin sheets, can quote Casablanca, and knows how to fix a car, she was understandably ecstatic. The problem: Sarah had already phoned Kevin to ask him for legal advice and he reached out to someone at his old firm. A female employee there...

As y'all know, I am not terribly good at simplicity. I can't just post a trailer. I gotta have an angle (charitable view) or a gimmick (uncharitable view) in order to have at it. Otherwise I fear I'll be absorbed into that Borg-like group internet mind that exists only to offer movie studios free publicity. So what to do with trailers? I used to resent them. I spent a lot of 2009 worrying about our All Foreplay/No Sex internet movie culture. 95% of movie discussions these days take place before anyone ever sees the movie in question. The discussion ends on the movie's opening weekend. Doesn't anyone wanna have sex with the movies anymore?
Speaking of Sex...
I didn't even realize this until both of these teasers premiered this past week or so but 2010's upcoming summer movie season is basically an elaborately expensive time machine designed to transport us back...
