The "Star Wars" prequels were once maligned but, thanks in no small part to the popularity of shows like "The Clone Wars," this era of the beloved franchise has been claimed by a younger generation of fans. Anakin Skywalker is now a marquee character and Hayden Christensen is welcomed by much of the fandom with open arms. That wasn't always the case, but as evidenced by his return in "Obi-Wan Kenobi" and "Ahsoka," it certainly is today. However, in another timeline, a radically different actor could have taken on this pivotal role.

Ken Marino's career as an actor, writer, and director has been largely defined by two things: comedy and collaboration. After establishing himself via the MTV sketch comedy series "The State" with the comedy troupe of the same name (comprised of his closest friends and creative confidants), he went on to work on some of the funniest, most brilliant, and underrated TV and film projects to come out of Hollywood in the last two decades.
Much of his work is the result either of his own creative will or that of his former troupe-mates, the group having spread through the industry to wreak hilarious havoc. They often explore absurd angles on popular genres such as medical dramas and reality dating shows. At the same time, he's a familiar face on a smorgasbord of network sitcoms, as well as a few audacious dramedies you'll certainly want to add to your watch list.

While St. Denis Medicals blend of workplace comedy and medical drama might be a fresh new concept, the sitcom is full of familiar faces. NBCs new sitcom St. Denis Medical follows the staff of the eponymous hospital as they attempt to keep the struggling institution running smoothly. St. Denis Medical is a workplace mockumentary sitcom that takes the premise of Scrubs and brings the style of The Office and Abbott Elementary to the project. This results in a sitcom that feels both original and familiar at the same time thanks to St. Denis Medicals added medical drama.

For his last installment of “Fingers the Pulse” before the 2024 election, Jordan Klepper knew he wanted people on the other side of the coin to experience the wild world of Trump rallies. What “The Daily Show” host didn’t expect was that he would unintentionally be showcasing a different side of Trump mania.
“Part of the premise built into this special is bringing outside people in to see it for the first time, because I’ve seen it for so long,” Klepper told TheWrap. “But we had quite a few [rallies] that were low energy, low turnout. People felt like they were going through the motions.”
Klepper made sure to note that every Trump rally is different. The mood of the event varies wildly based on the city the Republican nominee is appearing in and the conditions of the country at the time. He also noted that “Donald Trump gets a crowd.

It's been almost four years since the events of January 6th at the U.S. Capitol building, and people are still being sentenced for their participation in the attempt to overthrow the 2020 election (also known as an insurrection or a coup). Perhaps the most famous of those individuals, aside from the QAnon Shaman, is the ever-mustached Jay Johnston, a long-time comedic mainstay who has been in the alternative comedy scene for more than 30 years. First famous for his work with Bob Odenkirk and David Cross on Mr. Show and then on Sarah Silverman's TV show, Johnston went on to become a big voiceover artist with roles in Bob's Burgers, Moral Orel, Mr. Pickles, Rick & Morty, and many more series.

The days of Reno 911! on Comedy Central may feel like a thing of the past, but we may not need a time machine to visit Dangle, Wiegel, Garcia, Jones, Johnson, Williams, and Junior. When Reno 911! first went off the air in 2009, that seemed to lock up the mockumentary spoof. But it bounced back with support from everybody from Quibi to Paramount+, who invested in it through new episodes and even more movies. Nearly three years removed from the force’s final shift, there might be hope for more of Reno’s finest.
Speaking with MovieWeb, Thomas Lennon – who played short-short-sporting Lieutenant Dangle (pun most definitely intended) – said that he expects even more Reno 911! in the future, joking, “I can’t imagine we wouldn’t do more Reno 911! because we already have all the outfits, which is basically the hardest part. We spoke with comedic actor Thomas Lennon amid the release of Chosen Family, his new movie from writer-director Heather Graham who also leads the cast. Lennon steals his scenes as Matt, the hilarious but supportive friend of Ann (Graham), a single yoga instructor trying in vain to connect with her new boyfriend's devilish seven-year-old daughter. It's the latest laugh-out-loud project in a long line of similarly comedic ones from Lennon, whom Comedy Central fans might remember best from the acclaimed mockumentary series, Reno 911! And it sounds like another reunion between its beloved cast is not exactly out of the question down the line.

Julia Stiles is a woman whose efforts to remain sober prove troublesome amid her dysfunctional family in Chosen Family. The Golden Globe and Emmy nominee first found success with her turns in multiple William Shakespeare modernizations, including the Heath Ledger-co-starring 10 Things I Hate About You, Ethan Hawke's Hamlet and Tim Blake Nelson's O. Her star power has only grown since, including starring in the original Bourne trilogy with Matt Damon and in Dexter season 5 as Lumen.
Stiles stars in Chosen Family as Clio, sister to the film's protagonist Ann, just released from her latest stint in rehab after years of struggling with various addictions. Moving back in with their hyper-religious father and eccentric mother, Clio becomes consistently more frustrated with her sister's overbearing nature of making sure she doesn't go back to rehab, while their parents continue to support her with her various ideas of businesses she wants to form,...

Despite a lack of updates over the past few years, Reno 911! may not be completely over. The mockumentary is famously a Cops parody, showcasing the Reno Sheriff's Department as they attempt to intervene in various crimes and domestic issues. It is filled with raunchy humor, as the characters are not especially competent officers and generally struggle with the producers of their supposed documentary. It ran for eight seasons and starred numerous actors, including voice actor Wendi McLendon-Covey.
In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant about Chosen Family (2024), Reno 911! co-creator, Thomas Lennon, opened up about the show's future. Lennon admitted that he expects to see it return and believes that the cast would agree, no matter what they were working on. He had high praise for every star and their dedication to the show but cited Niecy Nash (Deputy Raineesha Williams) as especially devoted. Check out his quote below:...

Queen Latifah Action-Comedy Co-Writer Reflects On Original Failure To Make Sequel After 9% Rt "Flop"

With the original movie's star recently expressing her interest in a sequel, Thomas Lennon recalls the original scrapped plans for Taxi 2. Lennon and his creative partner, Robert Ben Garant, were brought on to rewrite the script for the remake of Luc Besson's hit action comedy of the same name, with the American version centering on skilled taxi driver Belle partnering with hapless NYPD detective Andy Washburn to stop a series of bank robberies carried out by skilled getaway drivers. Led by Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah, Taxi was a solid box office success in spite of its critical panning.
During a recent interview with Screen Rant for his role in the upcoming romantic comedy Chosen Family, Lennon was asked about Latifah's recent comments, in which she expressed her interest in making Taxi 2 with Fallon. Plot: A series of heinous crimes have unsettled a small community. Detective Lois Tryon feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone—or something—is taunting her. At home, Lois grapples with a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband in long-term hospital care and her own inner demons. With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of Sister Megan, a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good. Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. Ryan Murphys Grotesquerie reunites him with some of his previous collaborators, and its also the first major acting role of a very popular football player. Ryan Murphy continues his work in the horror genre outside of American Horror Story and Monster with Grotesquerie, though this project quickly drew comparisons to American Horror Story in terms of its tone and way of approaching horror. However, Grotesquerie aims to take horror a bit further than previous Murphy projects have done, and for that, it brings old and new talents into the Murphyverse.
Grotesquerie follows Detective Lois Tryon, who is investigating a series of horrible crimes in a small community. The case turns out to be a lot more complex than Tryon thought, so she enlists the help of Sister Megan, a nun and Catholic Guardian journalist. The writing duo of Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant are best known for their work on comedies and family friendly projects: Reno 911!, Taxi (2004), The Pacifier, Herbie: Fully Loaded, Let’s Go to Prison, Balls of Fury, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Baywatch (2017), Night at the Museum, and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. But they’ve also written the horror comedy Hell Baby, and Garant has written the horror films The Veil and Jessabelle. So it’s not entirely off brand to hear that they wrote the initial screenplay for the upcoming horror film The Casket Girls, with Gabrielle Union (Breaking In) on board to star and executive produce.
Deadline reports that Justin G. Dyck will be directing The Casket Girls and has done script revisions with Keith Cooper (Anything for Jackson). Dyck has a lot of directing credits to his name, most of them being on romantic TV movies,...

Content warning: This article mentions an actor who was convicted of rape. It also includes spoilers for That '90s Show part 3!
That '90s Show part 3 debunks a theory that Hyde is Gwen's dad, confirming Cedric Yarbrough's character as her father. The popular theory connecting Hyde to Gwen was fueled by similarities between the characters. It's unlikely Hyde's fate will be addressed in That '90s Show due to the serious legal issues surrounding actor Danny Masterson.
That '90s Show part 3 finally disproved a major theory surrounding Steven Hyde and his fate after That '70s Show. Set over 15 years after That '70 Show's timeline, That '90s Show primarily follows the daughter of Eric and Donna, Leia, and her teenage friends in Point Place. Exclusive: Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!), Chelsea Frei (The Moodys), and Larry Joe Campbell (The Orville) have been set for guest star roles in the forthcoming second season of Fox’s popular workplace comedy Animal Control, starring Joel McHale.
Others set to appear in S2 guest roles, as previously announced, include Ken Jeong, Sarah Chalke, and Krystal Smith.
Premiering last February, the show created by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg and Dan Sterling follows a group of local Animal Control workers whose lives are complicated by the fact that animals are simple, but humans are not. McHale plays Frank, an opinionated, eccentric Animal Control officer who may not have gone to college but is still the most well-read person in the room. A former cop, Frank tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, which may explain why he’s so cynical and curmudgeonly. He has an almost superhuman ability to understand animals.

Poor Things costume designer Holly Waddingham won for Period Film, and Saltburn‘s Sophie Canale took Contemporary Film. The night’s first film prize went to last year’s biggest film, with Jacqueline Durran winning for Barbie.
Waddingham and Durran also are up for the Best Costume Design Oscar, vying against Killers of the Flower Moon, Napoleon and Oppenheimer.
Since the guild launched its awards show in 1999, the Academy Award for Costume Design has gone to a period film every year but thrice, with only Mad Max: Fury Road (2016), Black Panther (2019), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2023) bucking the trend.
The 2023 Cdga saw Elvis, eventual Oscar-winner Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery take the top film awards. But Ruth E. Carter...

With all due respect to “The Good Fight,” the new Paramount+ Super Bowl spot starring Patrick Stewart may be the finest thing Paramount+ has ever done.
The one-minute, 58-second “Hail Patrick” ad, from creative agency Droga5, is the 15th commercial in the “A Mountain of Entertainment” series. Paramount+ first introduced “Paramount Mountain” three years ago at Super Bowl Lv; Stewart was waiting for his colleagues at the summit back then.
Those ads were…not great — but “Hail Patrick” undoubtedly is. In it, Stewart is in the trenches at base camp but still the group’s leader, which tees up a double meaning to the commercial’s title.
We open on Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa attempting to toss a grappling hook to the top of Paramount Mountain. It falls a bit short. This is, after all, a mountain of entertainment; it is no easy task.

The recent ad campaign for Paramount+ has been a mite surreal. In them, a group of fictional characters, each from various Paramount-owned properties, find themselves lost on Paramount Mountain -- a desolate and snowy place -- wondering how they might escape. The ads are fun, as there are few places where one might see Peppa Pig and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen interacting with Beavis and Butt-Head. Several of the spots were narrated by Patrick Stewart and, throughout the campaign, featured cameos from "Survivor" host Jeff Probst, Captain Pike from "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" as played by Anson Mount, Dora the Explorer, James Corden, Bumblebee the Transformer, Snooki, DJ Khaled, Diane Lockhart from "The Good Fight" as played by Christine Baranski, Lieutenant Jim Dangle from "Reno 911!" as played by Thomas Lennon, and many, many others. In one of the more recent ads, Sylvester Stallone appears as his...

What can one do when stuck on the metaphorical Paramount Mountain other than sing with Creed?
On Wednesday, Paramount Plus shared their fever-dreamish Super Bowl commercial starring Drew Barrymore, Patrick Stewart, Miami Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa, Peppa Pig, and Arnold from Hey Arnold as they figure out how to get over a snowy mountaintop.
“If it were a football, I’d be able to reach the top,” Taogvailoa says after throwing an anchor.
“What about a football-shaped head?” suggests Stewart, looking at Arnold from Hey Arnold. “We throw the child.”
Knuckles from Sonic agrees,...

“I accept this award on behalf of every black and brown woman who has gone unheard yet overpoliced, like Glenda Cleveland, like Sandra Bland, like Breonna Taylor,” said Niecy Nash-Betts in a passionate acceptance speech at tonight’s Emmy Awards.
Nash-Betts won Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or TV Movie for her role, noted above, of Glenda Cleveland in Netflix’ Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, who got the brush-off from police when she tried to alert them to the horror down the hall.
“My job is to speak truth to power, and baby I am going to do it until the day I die,” she said.
In the series, Cleveland knew that really bad things were happening in Dahmer’s apartment alerting the police to the smell, the screams, but her calls were repeatedly and condescendingly dismissed, which just about breaks her heart. In one horrific scene,...
