Red Fang are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, kicking things off with the announcement of a rarities collection titled Deep Cuts. The compilation, arriving March 14th, features non-album tracks, covers, and previously unreleased singles.

The stoner/sludge band formed in 2005 in Portland, Oregon, and have thus far released five studio albums, with their most recent being 2021’s Arrows. Ahead of the release of Deep Cuts, Red Fang have shared the track “It’s Always There,” which previously only appeared on the deluxe version of their 2013 album, Whales and Leeches.

John Bailey, the cinematographer on Ordinary People, Groundhog Day, As Good as It Gets and dozens of other notable films who endured two “stressful” terms as president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, died Friday. He was 81.

Bailey died in Los Angeles, his wife, Oscar-nominated film editor Carol Littleton (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial), announced.

”It is with deep sadness I share with you that my best friend and husband, John Bailey, passed away peacefully in his sleep early this morning,” she said in a statement. “During John’s illness, we reminisced how we met 60 years ago and were married for 51 of those years. We shared a wonderful life of adventure in film and made many long-lasting friendships along the way. John will forever live in my heart.”

The Knick creators, executive producers and showrunners Jack Amiel and Michael Begler are returning to the HBO fold with a rich three-year overall deal. Under the pact, said to be in the eight-figure range, the duo have been tapped as writers, executive producers and showrunners for Season 2 of HBO’s drama series Perry Mason starring Matthew Rhys.

They replace the Perry Mason reboot’s creators Ron Fitzgerald and Rolin Jones who served as writers/showrunners on Season 1.

Amiel and Begler ran The Knick, which starred Clive Owen and André Holland and was directed by Steven Soderbergh. Originally airing on HBO sibling Cinemax, the series is now available to stream on HBO Max via HBO platforms. The Peabody Award-winning drama series was nominated for multiple Emmy Awards across its two seasons and won for Outstanding Production Design.

When Richard Bryce Goodman was a young man, his wide-ranging interests included photography, music and philosophy, but it was a present he received while growing up in Baltimore that seems to have had the biggest influence on his career arc.

“I had a darkroom from age 12 where friends and I used to make our own R&b mixes off Wwin radio with a fancy tape recorder that was given to me by a rich uncle,” says Goodman, an Academy Award-nominated sound mixer.

Goodman’s early training was eclectic. In the late ’60s, he attended London’s Slade School of Fine Art, gaining insight into moviemaking from the institution’s in-house film legend, Thorold Dickinson. Returning stateside, he earned a degree in fine art and philosophy from Bucknell University in 1970. He began shooting documentaries around the college’s art classes using a Bolex camera stocked with film short ends from the psych department.

Film and television star John Krasinski, who stars as a former Navy Seal in the upcoming, real-life motion picture thriller 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, has been named the Grand Marshal for the Aaa Texas 500 Nascar Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, Nov. 8, at Texas Motor Speedway.

Krasinski, an actor, writer and director, will give the command for the Sprint Cup Series drivers of the 43-car field to start their engines in front of a crowd that annually comprises one of the largest-attended, single-day sporting events in Texas.

“It’s a huge honor to be asked to serve as this year’s Grand Marshal,” said Krasinski. “I am really excited to be going to Nascar and seeing Jeff Gordon race for one of his last outings.”

Krasinski will be joined on the Grand Marshal stage by three of the heroes from the CIA annex security team that fought off Islamic militants on Sept.

It is a great tragedy of our culture that men are not encouraged to have the same sort of intensely emotional and hugely supportive relationships among themselves that women have with other women. Men are forced to find their emotional support, sometimes their only such support, from wives or girlfriends, while their wives and girlfriends have entire networks of friends — who slot into a sometimes massive and ever-shifting hierarchy that starts with Occasional Drinking Buddy to Bff — to whom we turn for advice, encouragement, mutual bitching sessions, pats on the back, and so much more.

So what do men see...

With the "Odd Couple" pairing of Robert Redford and Nick Nolte, director Ken Kwapis ("Big Miracle," "He's Just Not That Into You") has made an unmistakable buddy road picture in "A Walk in the Woods."  It's certainly laconic vs. loquacious on the Appalachian Trail: one part existential journey and another part environmental reverie, as told by sardonic travel writer Bill Bryson (Redford) in his memoir, adapted for the screen by Redford's producing partner, Bill Holderman. Of course, it's easy to see the attraction for both Redford and Nolte: "A Walk in the Woods" perfectly plays off their iconic personas. And for Redford it's even more personal, about aging and learning to co-exist with the environment (a marvelous bookend to "Jeremiah Johnson"). Robert Redford and Nick Nolte are far from typical pensioners in a trailer for the new adventure comedy A Walk in the Woods.

The film adaptation of author Bill Bryson's memoir of the same name stars Redford as the popular humorist as he returns to the Us after 20 years abroad.

Bryson dreams of reconnecting with his country by hiking the 2,000-mile Appalachian Trail, but the trip becomes more than he bargained for when his cranky friend (Nick Nolte) tags along.

A Walk in the Woods boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Academy Award winner Emma Thompson, Nick Offerman, Mary Steenburgen and Kristen Schaal.

I’m really excited for The Knick, a historical medical drama starring Clive Owen and directed by Steven Soderbergh, which Cinemax will be unveiling in August. This is the same network we jokingly call Skinemax, and which features action-packed, nudity-heavy series like Strike Back, Hunted and Banshee. However, The Knick definitely looks like a promising new start for the network in a new trailer for the series.

In the trailer, we’re introduced to the high-pressure, high-stakes existence of Dr. John W. Thackery (Owen), a doctor at New York’s Knickerbocker Hospital in the early twentieth century. As he pushes to expand the known boundaries of modern medicine, he encounters a myriad of personal and professional dilemmas.

The main draw for a lot of viewers will probably be Owen, who looks like he’s perfectly suited for this gritty role, but I’m most excited to see Soderbergh’s direction on the series.

Attempting to determine the very worst thing about the oeuvre of Adam Sandler is akin to trying to decide which sort of cancer is the most horrible: even to finally settle on one isn’t to say that all the rest aren’t blights on humanity. But I think I may now have it.

Six big words fill the screen of the 30-second teaser ad for the upcoming Cinemax drama The Knick: Coming Soon. Steven Soderbergh. Clive Owen. To any serious film and television viewer, you do not really need to know anything else.

But, in case you want a bit more context, The Knick is Soderbergh’s first major project that he is attached to since his retirement from film and the quick glimpse below promises a marvellously macabre time. The show takes place in New York City during the early 1900s at the Knickerbocker Hospital – the location whose nickname gives the series its title. It was one of the most revolutionary institutions in treating polio, alcoholism and gynecology, and the teaser is filled with some rather bloody, unorthodox stages of procedure.

Hopscotch Films have reportedly shelved plans to theatrically release the $50 million Arnie-Sly team-up action thriller "Escape Plan" in Australia. The title will now go direct-to-disc.

'Escape' fizzled upon release at the U.S. domestic box-office with just $23 million, but has done quite well overseas with a $78 million haul outside North America.

In Australia, both "The Expendables" movies and Arnie's recent "The Last Stand" were solid performers, making the choice all the more perplexing. Fans are understandably unhappy, flooding Hopscotch's Facebook page with complaints.

Hopscotch themselves haven't confirmed it on their social media outlets, though at least two cinema chains have confirmed the pulling of the film which was to score a release on November 28th.

The "Big Miracle" star's big news comes just 13 months after the birth of her first child, Olive.

The news came after Barrymore was spotted in a baby bump-concealing gown at the Lacma Art+Film Gala Saturday. However, it was only confirmed Monday.

The 38-year-old married Kopelman, an artist, in June 2012.
