Ramón Rodríguez has been cast in the lead role of the “Will Trent” drama pilot at ABC.

The pilot had been given a cast contingent order back in February and will now officially move forward, with Rodríguez’s casting lifting the contingency.

Based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling “Will Trent” novel series, the pilot follows Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (Gbi). Trent was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. But now, determined to use his unique point of view to make sure no one is abandoned like he was, he has the highest clearance rate in the Gbi.

Aubrey Plaza has been tapped as a lead in the second installment of HBO’s dark comedy series The White Lotus. The Parks & Recreation and Legion alumna Plaza, who will be a series regular, is the second confirmed cast member for the upcoming follow-up to Mike White’s breakout social satire limited series, joining previously cast Michael Imperioli.

The six-part original series followed visitors vacationing at the White Lotus, an exclusive Hawaiian resort. The second installment — also written, to directed by and executive produced by White — will leave Hawaii behind for a new location and is expected to follow a different group of vacationers at another White Lotus property.

Plaza will play Harper Spiller, a woman on vacation with her husband and his friends. Imperioli plays Dominic Di Grasso, a man traveling with his elderly father and recent college-graduate son.

Of the original cast, standout Jennifer Coolidge has been rumored to be returning.

Aubrey Plaza is checking in to “The White Lotus” Season 2 at HBO, Variety has learned.

Plaza will appear in the series regular role of Harper Spiller, a woman on vacation with her husband and his friends. As previously announced, Season 2 of the hit dark comedy will take place at an entirely new White Lotus resort than the one in Hawaii used in Season 1.

Plaza is not the first cast member announced for the new season. It was previously reported that Michael Imperioli would be appearing in Season 2 as well. Season 1 star Jennifer Coolidge is also rumored to be returning, but HBO has yet to officially confirm that.
