It is no secret that the genre of horror is saturated, like a wet diaper, with films that should never really have been made, films that are so bad they’re, well, bad. I know that sometimes a film is made that is often a train-wreck yet manages to be entertaining, but surrounding those films exists a bunch of motion picture atrocities that fail on all levels, and those are the films I’ll be looking at in this column. News of a new horror project has come our way as Cassandra Scerbo (Sharknado) and legendary horror icon Tony Todd (Candyman, Final Destination, Night of the Living Dead) have joined the cast of Lou Simon's Agoraphobia.

Cassandra will playing the lead role of a fragile young wife who believes her new home is haunted. Todd goes against type as the reassuring doctor.

The cast also includes horror staples like Maria Olsen (Paranormal Activity 3, Percy Jackson & The Olympians), Julie Kendall (Girls Gone Dead), and Gema Calero (Hazmat).

Agoraphobia is written and directed by Lou Simon (Hazmat, The Awakened), who won Best Horror Film at the Berlin Independent Film Festival, and produced by Tara Cardinal, the creative force behind the fantasy action franchise Legend of the Red Reaper.

December was a slow month for horror additions to the Netflix streaming library, but we wanted to let readers know about a handful of new titles that were recently released, including The Devil Inside, Night of the Living Dead: Reanimation and The Grudge 3. Don’t forget that all completed seasons of Supernatural are still available on Netflix, along with Seasons 1 and 2 of The Walking Dead.

There are also four seasons of The Twilight Zone available, which we always recommend to horror fans that don’t own the entire series already. Below is a list of many of the newly released titles, along with titles we previously covered. Keep in mind that this list is from the Us Netflix streaming library and may differ depending on the deals Netflix has in place in other countries.

Fall is definitely in the air, and Halloween is on its way. Which means online voting is now under way for the fourth annual Reaper Awards presented by Home Media Magazine and Dread Central. Let your voice be heard!

Rebecca Foster (Katie Peterson) has all the makings of a horror stereotype because, let’s be honest, that’s what the filmmakers were going for. Leaving a heavily religious home where dreams of rituals torment her, she sets off with her cheerleading gal-pals for a party weekend in Manatee Creek. One of the things that we need to talk about is why, as horror fans, are we so damn obsessed with the 1980′s. There are plenty of decades that have just as many credible horror flicks as the 80′s. Directors Michael Hoffman Jr. (Spring Break Massacre) & Aaron T. Wells have been pretty tight lipped about the upcoming Girls Gone Dead. From what I gather expect something that is a cross between American Pie & The Slumber Party Massacre. In fact, the new poster for Girls Gone Dead pays tribute to The Slumber Party Massacre if you pay careful attention to how the bodies of the film's potential victims are placed in this poster image. In fact, this poster image is the first bit of news to come out about Girls Gone Dead in some time. So for the meantime enjoy this poster and a plot synopsis (down below, after the jump) for Girls Gone Dead until we can find out some more info about this film later on.

In Girls Gone Dead, Rebecca, a beautiful young woman coming into her own, has been raised in a sheltered religious environment by her overbearing mother.

Girls Gone Dead is a sexploitation comedy that has a retro' feel and a sparse plot. Apparently, some teenagers will go on a Spring Break holiday only to find a killer with a sledgehammer waiting for them. Let the killing begin! Starring in Girls Gone Dead are the infamous Ron Jeremy, Jerry "The King" Lawler, Al Sapienza and Penthouse Pet Janessa Brazil. The first poster for the film can be found left and this indie horror title is being supported by film distributors Archstone Distribution for an early Spring 2012 release.
