Spanish director and screenplay writer Mireia Noguera is one of seven female directors teaming up for Barcelona-based production house Corte A Films on the anthology “7 of Hearts.”
Corte A Films is in the financing phase of the film, which is the second project by Esteve Rovira and Gerard Quinto, who directed “7 Reasons to Run Away (From Society),” with David Torras. The film won the Audience Award at the Gaudis.
“Seven Reasons” featured seven darkly humorous stories revolving around protagonists that were detestable, proving the point that sometimes it is best to avoid other humans.
“This new film, ‘7 of Hearts,’ is also composed of seven stories, but what is special is that it will be directed by seven women,” Noguera tells Variety.
The film is written by Soler, who is also a playwright.

‘Manifest’s Matt Long, Marg Helgenberger, Jasmine Mathews & E.J. Bonilla Cast In ‘Getaway’ NBC Pilot

Amid talks about a new season of Manifest, one of the canceled NBC series’ core cast members, Matt Long, has booked a new pilot at the network but fans of the missing plane drama should not be too worried about it. Long, CSI alumna Marg Helgenberger, Jasmine Mathews (The Rookie) and E.J. Bonilla (The Old Man) are set as series regulars opposite Annie Ilonzeh in NBC drama pilot Getaway, from The Blacklist duo John Davis and John Fox and Universal TV, a division of Universal Studios Group.
I hear Long was approached about Getaway after the options on the Manifest cast expired last month and studio Warner Bros. Television ended its efforts to find a new home for the show after conversations with Netflix did not yield an agreement. “Kim’s Convenience” star Simu Liu asks himself “every day” whether he should’ve spoken out last month on social media about his experience on the set of the hit CBC series, when he noted in a Facebook post the “overwhelmingly white” producers and lack of Korean voices in the writers’ room after creator Ins Choi departed. But Liu remembers watching what wound up being the anticlimactic series finale at the end of the fifth season, which had just been released on Netflix, and reflecting on the global impact of the show about an Asian Canadian family.

TV academy voters are faced with a daunting task when they fill out their 2021 Emmy Awards nominations ballot in that they have to consider 133 shows for Best Drama Series. On the bright side, the amount of entrants is down by 66 from last year, and members no longer have to winnow their choices down to just 10 favorites. As with the last several years, they are being told to “Vote for as many achievements in this category that you have seen and feel are worthy of a nomination.”

Clarice is poised to be silenced by CBS in the coming weeks.
The Silence of the Lambs prequel was initially set to move to Paramount+ following its low-rated CBS run, but now the series is in a more precarious position than before.
Deadline is reporting that talks between the streamer and co-producer MGM have fallen through, with neither side able to agree on a deal to keep the show alive.
The news is not that surprising. Clarice was reported to be in contention to move from Paramount+ alongside Evil and Seal Team, but when the streamer officially picked up the other two, Clarice was notably absent.
Moving a series from broadcast to streaming is not an easy business because it means that new deals have to be struck, and Deadline says that the license fee for the show was set to increase from the $1.2 million - $1.3 million fee on CBS...

“The Woman in the Window,” the Netflix thriller and mystery starring Amy Adams, was watched for 500 million minutes online in its first three days, Nielsen said in its weekly streaming figures. It was good enough to top the list of film titles for the week of May 10, but was a quieter debut compared to some recent streaming hits.
“The Woman in the Window” placed just 5 million minutes ahead of “The Mitchells vs. The Machines,” which had its third straight week among the top spots on Nielsen’s list after previously being watched for 853 million minutes the week of May 3. “Woman in the Window” and “The Mitchells” were also the No. 9 and No. 10 most streamed titles overall, behind popular series such as “Jupiter’s Legacy” and “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
That said, titles like the Michael B. Jordan thriller “Without Remorse” or the Melissa McCarthy comedy “Thunder Force” debuted far stronger, and it...

No emergency here: Fox’s “9-1-1” finished up just fine, drawing a 1.0 “live” rating among adults 18-49 and 6 million total viewers. Pairing its top drama with the season finale for spinoff “9-1-1: Lone Star,” Fox finished first on another Monday. Readers can find TheWrap’s interviews with “9-1-1” and “9-1-1: Lone Star” showrunner Tim Minear and “9-1-1” star Oliver Stark and “Lone Star” lead Rob Lowe here and here. Meanwhile, The CW’s “Black Lightning,” CBS’ “All Rise” and NBC’s “Debris” all had much less impressive finale ratings during Monday’s primetime block. And those first two were not just season finales, but series finales. Fox was first in ratings with a 0.9 rating/6 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 5.5 million, according to preliminary numbers. At 8 p.m., “9-1-1” scored that aforementioned 1.0 and 6 million viewers, plus a 7 share. “Lone Star” at 9 earned a 0.8/5 and 5 million viewers.

For some very unfortunate reason, CBS decided not to renew All Rise for a brand new season 3. All we can say is that it's a tough business, and All Rise is its latest victim. According to the folks over at TV Line, CBS canceled All Rise a little over a week ago around mid-May 2021. Shortly after the cancellation, All Rise main star Simone Missickhit up her official Twitter account to comment about it saying, "#mood hand over my heart,...

Glenn Gordon Caron, the high-profile TV producer behind hits such as “Moonlighting” and “Medium,” has exited his role as showrunner of CBS’ “Bull,” Variety has confirmed.
In addition to no longer being the showrunner of “Bull,” Caron’s overall deal with CBS Studios has also ended. Reports emerged that he was dismissed after a studio investigation into an alleged toxic workplace. Separately, series regular Freddy Rodriguez has also left the series after having starred as Benny Colón since the show began. Kathryn Price and Nichole Millard will serve as co-showrunners going forward.
“Bull” stars “NCIS” alum Michael Weatherly as Dr. Jason Bull, who is based on the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw. The titular Dr. Jason Bull is the leader of a trial consultant firm, specializing in determining how a jury will vote before the trial has even begun. Filmmaking rarely travels a straight path, but for “Monster” it was exceptionally twisty. After the legal drama starring Kelvin Harrison Jr. premiered at Sundance in 2018 in the U.S. Dramatic Competition, it’s seen a title change, its first distribution deal fall through, and the original title restored. Producers Tonya Lewis Lee and Nikki Silver say it was all worth it: The movie premiered on Netflix May 7 and was among the top 10 Netflix titles in the U.S. last week.
“It has been a long journey, but it has been a really good journey,” Lee said. “It didn’t go the way we thought it would, but ultimately we landed where we were supposed to land. People are seeing it, they’re feeling it, and they’re responding to it.”
“Monster” is based on the 1999 YA novel by Walter Dean Myers, which follows a high school honor student (Harrison) who...

Will the FBI franchise to pull off what NBC has with OneChicago on Wednesdays? It will be fun to find out.
