There's only two large scale action style battle sequences: the first one is the opening scene, while the last one is the closing scene of the film. Besides this, there are frequent moments of emotional "violence" both psychologically and physically especially in the 2nd half of the film.
Apes are enslaved and tortured. A lot of whippings and forced starvation.
Some character vomit dark blood while bleeding profusely from the nose.
Cesar the ape is tortured over the course of several weeks. He is tied up to a large wooden x limb from limb, and he is left outside to freeze in extremely cold weathers. He also has cold water splashed on him.
Cesar gets shot in the side, and slowly bleeds to death. This scene is extremely emotional and quite depressing.
An ape gets shot in the head at point blank range after deciding to help out Caesar. Blood sprays. This scene is really sad and quite violent.
The colonel shoots himself off screen after contracting a deadly virus, quite distressing.
Disturbing violence.
Two scenes of gun and arrow battles between apes/humans and humans/humans. The entire movie only has two action scenes. Mostly physical fighting in the film.
