When a vintage clapping monkey toy from the original Amityville house is gifted to a father he becomes possessed and turns on his family.
Basically the same general concept as every other Amityville film.
The difference here is the film was made on a budget comparable with the value of 2 Freddo Bars & a Twinkie.
Awfully shot, stupid light effects, poor audio quality and an instantly forgettable cast there isn't much to credit the movie on.
Just when you think all these Amityville cashins can't get worse they do.
Stick to the originals or better yet don't bother.
The Good:
It's fairly short
The Bad:
Ridiculous light effects
Its just plain terrible
Things I Learnt From This Movie:
When an inanimate toy monkey is the most charismatic part of the cast you know you have a problem

Oh, my. As a professional reviewer and someone who writes horror and consumes any and every bit of horror out there, it breaks my heart to post such a bad review. If you don't know how much of ones' self goes into the writing of a script and then, the miracle of, getting it produced, I hate to burst the bubble of anyone with a dream.
Sadly, every single person involved in this horrible project must never - I repeat, NEVER - quit their day job.
If only I could have given it less than a star.
Sadly, I confused this with a REAL industry feature - Amityville: The Awakening - which will be out in 2017.
Please don't do the same! kT ~xXxo

Okey, sometimes when i read a bad review i tend to still watch that movie so i can make up my own mind... But in this case STOP AND DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! I'm telling you nothing about this movie is good!In fact i would go as far as to say it is as bad as catwomen. Besides the bad acting and horrible quality of the movie itself, its just not fit to be in The Amityville series(Movieseries) seeing as how they go so far of the beaten track story wise. Very very bad story line , actors are horrible and direction and quality suck ass.
Again you have been warned. so don't waste 2 hours.

Bad enough to warrant a review.
It's 58 minutes long, with another 8 minutes of slowly dragging credits(but that features a My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult song, so that boosts this flick up one star).
There's no budget.
There is a plot.
There is a drone used for some footage.
Watching this for free is still a waste of time unfortunately. If you like bad movies, this isn't one for you. God, the Asylum did a better Amityville movie than this. THE FCKING ASYLUM.
This is a bad movie, there's no shame in that, it's just really really bad.

This is the worst movie I have ever seen. The acting is below subpar, the dialogue is was horrible and the direction was bad. It was very monotone, slow and pretty boring really. I beg, don't watch this movie. As I said, I love bad movies, but this one is up with Rubber and birddemic (sp). I am physically sick after watching this piece of crap

Forty years after the murders at the Amityville house, a small group of family members travel to see their father "Mark Janson" (Mark Popejoy) at his home in Nebraska to celebrate his fiftieth birthday. Naturally, since it's his birthday, they all bring gifts with one in particular being a toy monkey that was picked up at a gift store in Amityville a few says before. Unfortunately, as it so happens, this toy monkey was taken from the Amityville house and is possessed by the evil spirit that dwelt there. To that effect, the spirit soon manifests itself to Mark and tries to convince him to kill as many of his family members as he can. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that this was a cheap, low-budget production which directly suffered as a result with a poorly written script, wooden acting, and very little suspense to show for it. In short, I don't consider this to be a good movie by any stretch of the imagination, and I have rated it accordingly.
Like others, I mistook this movie for the upcoming Amityville Awakening. This movie however is shockingly bad and amateurish produced and directed. This movie is even worse than "Amityville: It's about time" released in 1992 where a demon hides in a lamp. The plot is bad. The acting is bad. The effects are bad. Absolute everything with this movie is bad and I'm surprised the owner of the "Amityville" band including the iconic house silhouette doesn't sue the producer for destroying it. They didn't even bother to use fake ammo when the rifle went off - they used NO ammo but added a tiny "boom" afterwards. This production is nothing but a blasphemy against the whole genre.
One star is way to much.

Coming together for a family reunion, a large family finds that part of the celebrations include a treasured replica toy from their father's youth which inadvertently causes a past tragedy to come to light in a series of brutal murders that they soon realize is tied to one of the most shocking crimes in history.
For the most part, this was a pretty solid effort. One of the better elements here is the enjoyable release of the supernatural haunting on the family. Getting the heart and warmth of the family gathering for the birthday out of the way early on, the toy present he was given to him that starts everything is a rather fun idea as the scene makes for a generally creepy time with the hallucination and distorted reality. That this turns into a wholly impressive series of psychological mind-games involving him slowly being influenced by his father's spirit into an obviously unnatural yet barely acknowledged state throughout the course of the weekend. As time goes on and he gets even crazier while under the influence of the spirit, the slow dawning realization that he's knocking off the family due to that influence provides some thrilling scenes. This includes the ambush of the couple up in the bedroom or taking out the various family members as his frustrations offer up some solid scenes here. The series of chases and confrontations that appear here give this a much more rousing finish to this one which goes quite nicely with a hilariously metal finale coda to offer up a truly fun and cheesy effort which all holds the film up for the most part. There are some issues here. The main problem is the wholly unexplained matter of how he comes under the influence of his father's ghost as the acceptance is completely nonsensical. That he appears out of nowhere telling him to begin killing the family is entirely coincidental and has little about it that becomes coherent about following the toxic masculinity-spouted by his spirit. This whole reasoning is quite illogical, just like the somewhat obvious cheapness of display which covers most of this one, from the lack of being anywhere except the house or the lack of blood featured in the kills. These are the issues that bring this one down.
Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language and Violence.

The scting was bad. The cinematography was horrible. The monkey (which is creepy and should have added to the movie) was only shown a few times. There was not one good thing about this movie.
The Amityville Legacy (2016)
** (out of 4)
A family are getting together for their father's birthday. One of the gifts given to him is an antique monkey toy but soon afterwards the father begins to act strange. It turns out this toy was once inside the Amityville house and could be the reason for that house's curse.
THE AMITYVILLE LEGACY is a very low-budget movie from directors Dustin Ferguson and Mike Johnson. I had previously watched DON'T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT 2 and was surprised to see how much I enjoyed it even with its various flaws. I went into this movie with very low expectations because, well, let's be honest, the AMITYVILLE series has been an awful one and there have been countless bad movies that just borrowed the title to try and make people rent/buy it.
The film here has some decent performances from the cast and I'd argue that the director's do a nice job at keeping everything movie. A lot of times horror films like this just get to be downright slow and boring but that's really not the case here. It's well-made technically and it never gets boring. So, what is the problem with the film? Well, it lasts just 69-minutes with the ending credits.
Normally I prefer movies like this to run short but honestly that's a tad bit too short because it seems like the movie is just getting started and then it's over. THE AMITYVILLE LEGACY, with that short running time, is certainly worth sitting through but it did need a bit more meat on its bones.

This an awful horror movie. It has an awful story line. It also has awful acting. It is not scary. The ending is awful. This is part 14 to The Amityville series. The 13th part to the Amityville series Amityville vanishing point is better. Do see this movie it is awful. 19th part to the Amityville series Amityville awaking is a lot better. Do not see this movie. It one of the worst horror movie from 2016'
