Variety has learned that Britt Lower, Logan Browning, Erin Richards, and Milo Ventimgilia will all appear in the limited series alongside lead Sam Worthington.
Based on Coben’s novel of the same name, the official logline states, “An innocent father (Worthington) serving life for the murder of his own son receives evidence that his child may still be alive—and must break out of prison to find out the truth.”
Lower will play Rachel Mills, described as “David’s ex-sister-in-law and a former decorated reporter whose life fell apart after she was fired. When she discovers evidence suggesting an incredible secret, Rachel views it as a once-in-a-lifetime story that could be her ticket back to journalism.”
Lower currently stars in the hit Apple TV+ series “Severance,” which recently aired its second season finale.

Fans of the mind-bending thriller Severance know Britt Lower as Helly R, a character whose struggle against the dystopian Lumon Industries has made her one of television's most riveting leads. Yet before she got severed, Lower approached another style of surrealism in one of the best romantic comedy shows of the 2010s, if not ever: Man Seeking Woman.
Playing overachieving attorney Liz, sister to main character Josh Greenberg (Jay Baruchel), Lower demonstrated her on-the-nose comedic timing and range that would later make her a standout in Severance. She described the show to TV Insider this way: "This show is kind of like waking up inside of a dream, and you’re not sure if it’s going to be a fantasy dream or if it’s going to be a total nightmare, and oftentimes, it’s both." She also detailed her character in the show:

Bowen Yang is tired of fans tagging him in photos of other Asian people on social media.
The Saturday Night Live star opened up about his frustrations with the internet during the “I don’t think so, honey” segment of his and co-host Matt Rogers’ latest Las Culturistas podcast episode.
“I don’t think so, honey — TikTok or at least my experience of it, because it’s not even the algorithm anymore… my experience of TikTok is I log on and 20 of my notifications are of someone who thinks they’re being cute, tagging me saying, ‘Oh my god, this person looks just like Bowen Yang.’ It’s an Asian person,” Yang said.
“It’s a little Asian baby dancing around in, like, a little elephant costume,” the comedian continued. “Trust me. I’ve seen it. You guys can stop tagging me in that. No, thank you. It makes me not wanna use the platform.

AppleTV+ recently released a trailer promoting their upcoming projects on the platform, and fans of Severance will rejoice as it contains the first glimpses of the long-awaited second season.
In the newly released AppleTV+ trailer, Adam Scott emerges from an elevator presumably as his "innie", as it cuts to Tramell Tillman's Milchick who says, "Welcome back. Been a minute," in his trademark strange delivery. It also features an excellent sequence involving Scott, laying on a conference table, before he begins to run down what appears to be the hallways at Lumon Industries. Though that was the extent of the footage shown in the trailer, it exhibited the classic mind-bending imagery and dialogue that fans of the show have come to expect.

The 4:30 Movie is the sixteenth feature film from director Kevin Smith – and while he was making the movie, he thought he was making something that would get a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board. But the MPA saw it differently. When they had the chance to watch the movie earlier this year, they felt the sexual references in the dialogue were enough for the movie to earn an R rating for sexual content. Smith appealed the rating (and subscribers to That Kevin Smith Club got some interesting insight into the appeals process), but the ratings board decided to stick with the R. They confirmed today that The 4:30 Movie will remain an R rated film.
Smith has a history of being able to get his films re-rated on appeal. Clerks and Zack and Miri Make a Porno were both given Nc-17 ratings, but were re-rated R on appeal.

Can television have its own New Hollywood moment?
Much like movies such as Bonnie and Clyde, The Graduate, Rosemary’s Baby and Easy Rider took the late 1960s by storm, a group of writers and directors are hoping that their own independent TV projects can break through and find their way to the small screen amidst the current Hollywood contraction.
After a number of web series such as Issa Rae’s The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl, Broad City and High Maintenance were turned into TV series over the past decade, writers and directors hoped that this would lead to more.
However, the rise of streaming originals saw the business go the other way, with incredibly expensive dramas and comedies, often led by movie stars, taking over. This trend is now waning and a new generation of creators hopes that cost-conscious companies will now pay more attention to their projects instead.

HBO has ordered a half-hour pilot episode starring, written and executive produced by Rachel Sennott (“Bottoms”).
The untitled comedy project’s logline promises “a codependent friend group reunion,” in which the friends “navigate how their time apart, goals and new relationships have changed them,” TheWrap has learned.
“Barry” alums Emma Barrie and Aida Rodgers will executive produce alongside the “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and “Shiva Baby” star.
Sennott most recently starred as Pj, platonic other half to Ayo Edebiri’s Josie, in “Bottoms,” which she cowrote with director Emma Seligman. Seligman also directed Sennott in “Shiva Baby.”
Sennott also appeared alongside Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd in HBO’s “The Idol” as Leia. She starred as Alice in the A24 thriller-comedy, “Bodies Bodies Bodies.”
A graduate from NYU Tisch with a focus in acting, Sennott’s breakthrough performance came from Seligman’s “Shiva Baby,” originally a student film that was adapted into a full-length feature.

Netflix has acquired the independently produced sitcom “Tires” from stand-up comedian Shane Gillis, who stars and serves as an exec producer. The six-episode scripted comedy, which was self-financed, will premiere on May 23.
As part of the deal with Gillis, Netflix will also produce a new stand-up special with the comedian — his second for the streamer, following last fall’s “Beautiful Dogs.” The news comes in the wake of Gillis’ “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig this past weekend.
Gillis is also a writer and the co-creator of “Tires,” which stars Steven Gerben as Will, “the nervous and unqualified heir to an auto repair chain.” Will attempts to turn his father’s business around “despite constant torture from his cousin and now employee, Shane (Shane Gillis).”
Gillis’ frequent collaborator John McKeever is the director on “Tires,” which comes from Gillis’ and McKeever’s production company, Dad Sick Productions. Gerben and McKeever are also creators,...

You’ve heard of the beach that makes you old, but what about the pool that bores you to tears? Part “Old,” part “Lady of the Lake,” and weirdly just the baseball bits of “Signs,” this sluggish supernatural release from Blumhouse and Atomic Monster (the studios’ first new title following their recent merger) feels like the latest disasterpiece from a latter-day M. Night Shyamalan — but it’s not. That’s bad news for writer/director Bryce McGuire, who has neither the genre bonafides nor the creative depravity required to justify making his debut feature an accidental horror comedy about a haunted swimming pool and the idiot suburbanites who maintain it so, so slowly.
Expanding on his 2014 short film of the same name, which was co-directed with Rod Blackhurst, McGuire burns through nearly all of his good ideas for an extended “Night Swim” before the title card even pops. In the original three-minute version,...

Exclusive: Comedic multi-hyphenate Julio Torres (A24’s Problemista) has struck a deal with Ars Nova, the Off-Broadway, non-profit theater in NYC, that will see them partner to identify, develop, and commission full-length projects from early-career comedy artists.
The collaboration further expands Ars Nova’s two-decade commitment to new comedy at a time when support systems for NYC-based artists have decreased. Under the partnership, Torres and Ars Nova will look to provide comedians with opportunities for development and production outside of the traditional model of sketch shows and 10-minute sets. They’ll offer funding up front to create brand new, uniquely theatrical shows, while providing mentorship and development resources to the artists involved, the first set for a commission being Ars Nova Vision Residency Alum River L. To celebrate the alliance, Torres will return to the Ars Nova stage on October 26 to host Showgasm.

Growing up in the Bay Area, Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper, now known to fans as Saweetie, listened to 106.1 Kmel and Wild 949 on her drive to school with her dad every morning. The HBO Original stand-up comedy special John Early: Now More Than Ever airs on HBO in June and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
Logline: In his first HBO comedy special, John Early brings his unique blend of cutting commentary, pop star swagger, and all-around loveable hilarity to Roulette Intermedium in Brooklyn, New York. In the style of a gritty 70s rockumentary, Early performs stand-up and explosive song covers from Britney to Neil Young, intercut with Spinal Tap-esque backstage sketches.
John Early quote: “I am so excited to finally come out to the world as the lead singer of my band John Early and The Lemon Squares. I had the time of my life singing some of my favorite songs and sweating my brains out at the taping, and I can’t wait for more people to finally see this sacred show I’ve been doing some...

John Early has set his first HBO special with “Now More Than Ever,” a stand-up comedy hour in the style of a “gritty ’70s rockumentary.”
Airing on HBO and available to stream on HBO Max on June 17, the special will feature “stand-up and explosive song covers from Britney to Neil Young, intercut with Spinal Tap-esque backstage sketches.”
Among his other credits including “Would It Kill You to Laugh?” and “Search Party,” Early is known for whipping out his famous Britney Spears impression on late night television. Perhaps he’ll reprise his rendition of “Lucky” or Spears’ lesser-known Christmas song “My Only Wish (This Year)” in the special.

The Despicable Me cast is full of A-list stars playing its lovable animated characters. The movie revolves around a supervillain named Gru, who adopts three girls in a bid to steal the Moon and ends up feeling more fulfilled by fatherhood than evildoing. Despicable Me was a big enough hit to launch a blockbuster franchise. Gru became an endearing character that fans would follow in multiple sequels, and the Minions, introduced in the first of the Despicable Me movies, have become a cultural sensation, headlining their own spinoff movies. Those now-classic characters were brought to life by a fantastic cast of voice actors.
Despicable Me was the first feature-length production mounted by Illumination Entertainment, the animation studio that went on to spearhead the Sing and Secret Life of Pets franchises. It was an immediate hit with both critics and audiences, putting Illumination on the map alongside Pixar and DreamWorks Animation.

It's hard to believe that after four certified-platinum singles, two Grammy nominations, multiple acting gigs, and mounting brand deals, Saweetie still hasn't dropped her debut album. But according to the "Icy Grl" rapper, there's a perfectly logical explanation.
In an exclusive interview with Popsugar, Saweetie - whose debut album has been delayed for some years now after an original June 2021 release date - explained that she's treating her first LP like a make-it-or-break-it moment, noting that "an album is really a true introduction to the world." "I really want to take my time with it because I want it to be a masterpiece," she adds. "Now, after people listen to it, I want them to feel like they know who Saweetie or who Diamonté is."
"I really want to put a true ensemble together."
Previously, Saweetie (birth name Diamonté Harper) has released singles like "My Type," "Tap In," and "Best Friend" with Doja Cat,...

Everyone's favorite globe-trotting, brown jacket-wearing, and ethically dubious archaeologist is returning to the spotlight. That's right: 12 years after being fired by the Smithsonian, Rip Digman is coming out of retirement and eager to prove he's still got what it takes to be a world-class "Archie." To quote the man, the myth, the legend himself in the newly-unveiled "Digman!" trailer, "The only dating I'm interested in ... is carbon dating."
"Digman!," which is set to drop on Comedy Central a few months before that so-called world-renowned professor of archeology, Dr. Henry Walton Jones, Jr., heads out for his final adventure in "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," is an adult animated comedy series created by Andy Samberg and Neil Campbell. The duo previously worked together on the Samberg-led "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (where Campbell served as both a supervising producer and staff writer), and seem to have carried the beloved sitcom's irreverent, progressive...

No lie, “Poker Face” will enter the Emmy awards race as a comedy. The show is an hour-long whodunit but also contains plenty of comedic elements, which is why Peacock has decided to enter it in that lane. News comes as awards consultants across town make the final decision on where to place their programs, as the Television Academy officially opens this year’s Emmy submissions starting Feb. 21.
For example, on Friday, Variety exclusively reported that HBO’s “The White Lotus” would submit in the drama space, after the TV Academy ruled that it no longer qualified as a limited series (due to the return of star Jennifer Coolidge)
In the case of “Poker Face,” the decision to enter in comedy comes as the show continues earn strong reviews from critics. “Poker Face” is currently “99% certified fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite its whodunit nature, insiders note that Lyonne is widely...

Get ready to meet your new favorite archaeologist hero, Rip Digman! Comedy Central has revealed the first-look trailer for the animated series "Digman!" which stars Andy Samberg in the lead role.
