FREAKY Twist at the end / Insane performance.
Lead's mirror scene especially psycho !
Once the box opens ...😎
Lee Thongkham makes an incredible attempt at the old school 80's grainy twisting and turns films, while keeping it simple with hardly any dialogue as the story comes to life. Flash backs help understand this man, and possibly why this random box showed up at his door in the first place.
Upon watching, which I don't know if these films were inspirations to Lee, however I immediately thought of "CREEPSHOW" with The Crate, and the anthology film "XX" with their version of The Box. Which if you haven't seen any of those films check them out.
BOX is a great 30 minute short film that doesn't use any cheesy jump scares, that Hollywood over uses in any horror film nowadays. It also uses enough dialogue (if any), to focus mainly on the story itself with atmosphere, which I believe does the talking within the universe of Box. It may not seem much, but what can you expect when you literally murdered someone who has just kidnapped you and is now trying to kill you for whatever reason, you would have done the same thing yourself if you were in "the man's" shoes.
The box itself, is something you need to witness to appreciate. Like my other review, I don't wanna spoil much more even though it's like what to can I say versus not saying? I truly believe fans of the old school horror will enjoy this horrific adventure of what lies within the box, because we all have something to hide.
It's best watched in the dark, lights off and sound up. Cause if you see a "Box" at your door. Question now is. Would you open it? Or keep it locked away?

I really dug the box. Cool cover art, solid acting and props for the atmospheric vibe. You can tell the filmmakers hearts were into what they were doing. Making art for the world to consume is difficult and often unrewarding. Props to those who continue to create their stories through film.

This is an amazing short film that was screened at the 2018 Something Wicked Film Festival and was well received by audiences for its assured direction and creepy atmosphere. Fans of horror and suspense films will enjoy this short film that has some amazing performances to support the visuals and I can't wait to see what the film-makers come up with next.
Well I did, and I was definitely impressed. This is a very atmospheric and intense short film. I enjoyed it's surreal visuals and the acting I felt was spot on. The score definitely added alot to the intensity of the film. At about 30 minutes I felt it was the perfect length.
Shoutout to indie horror makers. Jimmy D killed this and Seeing him in Clown makeup is definitely creepy
Starting this I always watch new horror with a grain of salt, because so much so called horror is far from it . I am pleased to say that is not the case with this one from the start its like I am back in my teenage years watching a horror movie on the drive -in screen . It has enough creepy, darkness to keep any true horror addicts attention and then they add a clown to the mix. This is a must see for the diehard horror fans

The art of the short film is to tell your story in a small but worthwhile timeline. This not only captivated, but it delivered in a great way. Not to give anything away, the performance in the film relies heavily on Jimmy's ability to transfix the audience and bring them on his quick decent into madness. The film does a great job of blending the music with obscure camera angles to create visuals that will stay with you, long after the film is over. Solid work!

Box is a visually enthralling thrill ride. Well directed and well acted, this short is engrossing and will pull you in. What follows is a complex tale of horror and madness, delivered in a way that is well worth your time.
I really enjoyed this movie. The suspense was there when it needed to be which made me want to keep watching to find out what was going to happen next. The actors were perfect for their roles. It's definitely worth watching.

Had a great time watching. It doesn't rely on horror tropes and still delivers a creepy and sinister experience. Subtle but great performance Dempster.

When I was first invited to see the short film my first thoughts were "oh this oughta be interesting". Uuuuhg!!
And surprisingly it was!
It was almost like they packed the full content of a major movie in such a short span of time. And as usual when I see somebody with exceptional Talent, I always get the same thought and question.."Why isn't this guy famous". I'm so used to the usual low budget film..low budget acting. But it wasn't that way at all. The acting wasn't fake and stupid looking. It was real, The movements are real, everything is compelling and I feel everything Jimmy Dempster is trying to convey to all of his followers and everyone that will have the joy of seeing this, although a short. Deffinately as fulfilling of an experience as a full length feature would give its viewers.

"Box" was a fun ride! It has a very interesting plot that made you think about what you were seeing and left you wanting more. I would definitely love a full length feature made. Lead actor Jimmy Dempster nailed the role. His performance is a big part of what made this film special, although its very short it had good character development and the ending was done very well again leaving me wanting more!

What's the worst thing you've ever done in life? How bad was it? Do you ever fear it coming back to haunt you? These questions and more are what's explored in Box, a creepy, atmospheric and moving short film by Lee Thongkham. Jimmy Dempster stars as a man who has a run-in one night with a knife-wielding masked assailant. After killing his attacker, he, in a state of fright and shock, dumps the body in the middle of nowhere. Upon returning home he discovers a mysterious wooden chest. What is this box and who left it? He seems to have a supernatural connection to the box as it starts revealing dark secrets about him. Box is a very well-made short that works as a nice little throwback to horror TV shows like The Hitchhiker and Friday the 13th the Series and even somewhat has a story structure and elements common in a lot of old Twilight Zone episodes but done in a much darker, modern horror style. Don't go in expecting a gorefest though as it's a story that doesn't require lots of blood and guts. Overall, an entertaining 30-minute short that I recommend checking out if you get the chance.
