As a Florida native, I was well versed in the horrific history of Dozier School of Boys. Despite the subject matter, this film is lush and haunting. Some people may not like the filming style, which is in first person POV I found it riveting. I've never watched anything like it but I found it innovating. Mix in the lush cinematography and performances, and this should've been a sweep in the Oscars, and not a derivative Pretty Woman remake with s#x.and Russian oligarchs.
Overall, a well told story with great character development. I ended up being invested in all the protagonist, and rooted for them from beginning to end, and was crushed by the ending.

Spoiler alert. You've seen this movie before. It's Pretty Woman Meets Pulp Fiction but not as charming or as fun. I feel stupid that I waited anxiously for this film to hit streaming. After a recent viewing, I instantly felt both catfished, yet ecstatic that I didn't pay $20 to rent this unfunny room com.
Anora is this generations' Instagram fantasy come to life: two dimensional twenty something meets champagne bottle-popping oligarch and finds the easy life...for a brief time.
I sat through two hours hoping to be enlightened. Instead, I was given a plot more suitable to Tubi. The Academy has a been a joke for a decade, and it doesn't seem it's going to redeem itself any time soon.

The movie only has a couple of things going for it: great cinematography, the vocals and choreography. Everything else is bland. None of the songs are memorable, the characters are forgettable and so is the plot.
I don't understand the hype for the Libretto. It's bland. I don't see people singing (place whatever song here) like they do "Maria" or "America" from West Side Story.
Question: why is there a university? Are they learning magic or regular stuff like any human university. If the latter, who cares. This whole movie is just so snooze-worthy. Thank goodness I was able to watch if for free on my cruise. If I'd paid full price, and had to sit through this in a regular theater I would've walked out.
