The Munsters (2022)
Better than I expected
The first trailer for this movie really shortchanged it. It looked terrible in that trailer. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it really wasn't that bad. All those scenes in the trailer were not that cringey in the actual movie. Personally, I loved it. It was cute, fun and funny. It's a good family movie. The sets and colors were really beautiful. I was chuckling throughout. The relationship between Herman and Grandpa was funny and the relationship between Herman and Lily was sweet. It really stayed true to the spirit of the original show, which I very much appreciated. Stylistically it does feel like a Rob Zombie movie, except that it is perfectly innocent. I would like to see a sequel, but I doubt that will happen after the damage that first trailer dealt.
The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (2005)
Best late night show
Craig Ferguson is a very talented comedian and has an easy rapport with all his guests. The show is full of heart and spontaneous comedy. Craig's robot sidekick is a great comedian in his own right and their chemistry is great. The silly comedy gimmicks never get old. Craig sets a tone of authenticity which is very refreshing and makes this the best late night show.
Mark Kistler's Imagination Station (2017)
Fun and informative
I used to watch this show as a kid and I absolutely loved it. I loved to draw and the technique I learned was easy, helpful and enriching. It made me a better artist. The host Mark Kistler is a fun and funny teacher. Kids of all ages will love this show.
Food Party (2009)
Rare gem
Silly, weird, unique, low budget, creative, dumb, and hilarious. It always manages to get a laugh out of me. It's in the same vein as Peewee's Playhouse but aimed at adults. I'm glad I came across it on IFC. It felt like discovering a little comedy treasure.
The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse: Once Upon an Apple (2021)
Silly
This was a very funny Mickey Mouse cartoon. It was kind of odd seeing the wicked witch in so many slapstick cartoon situations. It had a happy ending, facilitated by an over the top Mickey and some animal friends, which was hilarious.
Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977)
Interesting
I quite enjoyed this movie. It has a lot of interesting ideas in it. The only problem, as I see it, is that for a horror movie it really is not scary at all.
Underdog (2007)
Enjoyable
I really enjoyed this movie. I imagine it not much like the cartoon. I'm not a fan of the original cartoon do I couldn't say. But as it's own thing it is very cute and wholesome.
Pat le chef (2012)
Pretty good
The girl is hot. The recipes are nice and simple. The guy is a little annoying.
Breach (2007)
Riveting
I was in the edge of my seat the whole time. I was very satisfied by the end.
Little Nemo (1989)
Fun
This is a cute and very unique film. I don't think I have ever seen a children's film quite like it. Because it takes place in dreamland and it is animated, the visual creativity is limitless. It's definitely worth checking out.
A Midsummer Night's Dream (1999)
Cool movie
Lots of great actors in this fun Shakespeare comedy. You can't go wrong with a Shakespeare story. They are always brilliant and engaging. Not sure why they chose to set it in this time period though.
Muppets Tonight (1996)
Love this show.
I love this show. It's very similar to the original muppet show. At the time it aired it was marketed as being a more adult version of the muppets. I suppose there are a few more risqué or sophisticated jokes in this show, but it's still pretty wholesome. It's too bad it didn't last longer.
Muppet Classic Theater (1994)
Funny and wholesome
I used to check this out from the library all the time when I was a kid. I loved it. It's perfect kid's entertainment. Sweet, silly and intelligent.
Transylvania 6-5000 (1985)
Flawed but fun
I'm not sure if I should laugh with or at this movie. Sometimes it's funny and sometimes it's too corny. Nevertheless it's a fun time. Interesting to see a young Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis in a screwball comedy.
Twin Peaks (2017)
Weird and mesmerizing
The original twin peaks has some very weird elements to it. This show is nothing but weird elements, and personIly, I loved it.
The Court Jester (1955)
Funny family film
Really funny and wholesome family film. The comedy holds up well for the most part. Lots of lighthearted adventure and intrigue. Kind of reminds me of Princess Bride.
Thinking Allowed (1987)
Excellent
Not many shows tackle these topics in depth as this one does. It's so refreshing to see intelligent conversation on topics which are both meaningful, and of interest, on television.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)
Mixed bag
Some of the most imaginative sci fi/fantasy visuals you will ever see. Unfortunately it is weighed down by a weak plot and unlikable protagonists.
Africa (2001)
Beautiful
This show blew me away when I saw it on television. It gave me an all new appreciation for Africa.
Wake Up (2010)
Excellent
I think people are expecting answers based on his claims. He is not giving answers. He is just exploring these experiences. Reality doesn't always offer up easy answers for us. I really appreciated this approach.
Nemo (1987)
Breathtaking Animation
I liked the version of Little Nemo that we got, but I would have loved to see this version. The animation is amazingly beautiful. A feature length version of this would have been a masterpiece. At least we have these shorts.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
More of a reboot than a sequel
Everything is back to square one. The empire is back. The rebels are back. Leia is still the rebel leader. Han went back to being a smuggler. The Jedi are still extinct. They just made a New Hope again. This is poor story telling. They should have spent more time on the script, but apparently Disney didn't want to invest in that kind of quality. It's a shame.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Disappointing
This movie wouldn't be that bad if it weren't a continuation of the Star Wars story. This second installment of the sequel trilogy continues to undermine all the plot and character development of the original trilogy. Luke apparently forgot everything he went through in Return of the Jedi and has become a miserable coward. Seeing this film has left me with no desire to see the final installment of the sequel trilogy
Peter Pan (2003)
Charming Fantasy
Congratulations to P. J. Hogan for faithfully adapting Peter Pan to film. He clearly understands the underlying themes as well as having a sense of fun. This is a lavish live action movie suitable for the whole family. It's a shame there aren't more family films of this quality.
Mirrormask (2005)
Brilliantly Dreamlike
This is one of my favorite movies. The visuals are unique and mesmerizing. The kind of logic in the film would only make sense in a dream. The story is heartwarming as well.
