The prosecution was gonna give immunity to a kid who brought a gun to school and killed the teacher, and who also stabbed a teacher in the arm in a separate incident all in favor to convict the father for telling him to stand up for himself. The prosecution even admitted the kid was unstable and had mental issues and was the victim of bullying.
Also, McCoy was acting like his DAs strategy was unheard of even though he himself had done it multiple times when he was a DA.
And the whole use of the N-word in a song as a good excuse to expel kids from a school is nonsense. It's a detention, nothing more. And Anthony Anderson's character using "it's complicated" about the N-word being in songs and only Black people allowed to sing it out loud is just hypocritical when the correct answer should be that the word shouldn't be used at all.

Once it establishes all the backstory it really gets good. I've never read the comics, but enjoyed the movie. This takes place after the events in the movie, the only difference is the show (and comic) has a giant squid instead of a huge explosion like in the movie. The flashback scenes really grab your attention. Check out the show, you'll like it.
