I loved this story ever since I read it in a collection of Vampire fiction. It takes alot of cool stuff from folklore elements. The production is great, and they use alot of practical effects. The acting is just as good, but it's very campy. I think the movie has alot of appeal to people who like folklore and period pieces; this take place in a warzone. Pacing is a little bit slow, but that's to be expected from this kind of movie. There's going to be alot of people whining about pretension, but I think it perfectly suits the mood of the movie. It's a great film, and it's on shudder right now so I recommend it!

If you want Victorian warfare this is your game. I think it's arguably better than the base one. You get to choose between two factions and then duke it out with modern weaponary for the fate of Japan. It features extensive battlefield and campaign gameplay, has arguably the most immersive experience out of all the Total War games, and is super fun to boot. If you have the choice between this and Empire Total War, I would choose this one because it's really polished for what it is. CA has done some bad decisions but this is not one of them. One of the best games ever! And it's very cheep! Buy it!

I'm more used to the version on criterion, but this was pretty awesome too. It's a little bit cheaper (just a little) but the acting carries it, and in my opinion is the better version. Has much more expanded plot than the original, and it gives it a very good vibe. I really loved this movie so to speak. It deals with very dark themes, and it's the reason why I love this story so much. It has a lot of really good elements that make it worth watching. I highly recommend getting the collection that's coming out from Radiance to properly watch this. Very much worth the time. Very good movie is what I'm saying!
