There is a lot of “uncertainty” for ­ordinary Americans after US president Donald Trump’s so-called “Liberation Day” announcement of tariffs, one Irish expat living in New York has said.

Iain McNamara (37), who has been living in the US since 2017, having moved there just a few months into Mr Trump’s first term in office, said there is a sense of “trepidation” as the world waits for the impacts of the tariffs to become clear.
