A popular Cork City pub has been granted planning to extend its premises.
Developers Tivoli Fuels (Cork) Limited, which runs Dan Lowrey’s at 13 MacCurtain Street, sought permission from Cork City Council for a change of use of the ground and basement floors at its neighbouring building, 14 MacCurtain Street, from a salon to a public house.
Now a vacant site, permission was also sought at Unit 14 for several alterations, including the demolition of a section of walls between the two units to provide access between the buildings at the ground floor and basement levels.
The development also includes the removal and relocation of existing stairs, the removal of toilet facilities on the first floor of Unit 13 and the relocation of the basement in Unit 14.
Works will also involve new signage, lighting and a new canopy to the front elevation of Unit 14.
Meanwhile, Cork City Council has given the green light for a new primary care facility in Douglas.
Infrastructure Investment Fund ICAV-Valley Healthcare Fund was successful in its bid to build the new care centre, which will be located at Saint Patrick's Mills in Douglas.
The development includes a four-storey primary care centre, as well as the provision of one retail unit and two GP practices on the ground floor, solar panels, and a plant room at roof level and all ancillary works, including bin store, signage, bicycle and car parking.
Access will be via the existing Saint Patrick’s Mill entrance, with the development also involving the re-orientation and reduction in car parking spaces and relocation of zebra crossings within the complex.
