Last Saturday, I had the privilege of attending the American Medical Writers Association Southwest Chapter Conference at Houston Methodist - a fantastic gathering of experts sharing their knowledge and experiences in medical writing and technology. The event featured insightful presentations on key topics shaping the future of medical communication: ✨ Goldina Erowele, PharmD, MBA from KJC Media Health explored the superpowers of medical writers, breaking down storytelling frameworks purpose, and structure for effective science communication. 🤖Jenni Pickett from Yseop delivered an exciting talk on the Medical Writer's Guide to the Tech Era, emphasizing the importance of AI literacy and how AI solutions can enhance clinical and regulatory workflows. 💡 Yashika C. dived into prompt engineering and a diverse range of AI tools that can accelerate medical writing. 🎨 Kelly Schrank, MA, ELS from Aquent Studios shared invaluable tips on perfecting infographics and graphical abstracts, helping us communicate complex data visually and effectively. 📊 Kandice Tessneer, PhD from Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation provided her expert insights on publication management, NIH compliance, and data-sharing methods, drawing from her extensive experience. The conference was a wonderful learning experience, reinforcing the evolving role of medical writers in bridging the gap between science, AI, and effective communication. Kudos to the AMWA Southwest chapter President Julie Bradford and all the organizers including Kimberly Mankiewicz, PhD, ELS and Xavier Scott, Ph.D. for their incredible efforts. Special thanks to Amanda Weiskoff for letting me know about this conference. Grateful for the opportunity to connect with such an inspiring community. I’m excited to integrate these learnings into my work and stay ahead in this dynamic field. Were you at the conference? What were your key takeaways? Let’s connect, continue the conversation and feel the sense of community! #Medicalwriting #AIasacowriter #AIinhealthcare #Sciencecommunication #AMWA #AMWASouthwest

I'm excited to share that I've accepted an invitation to serve as guest editor of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) Journal's fall issue on health communication. Looking forward to working with the contributors and with AMWA again, which is honestly always a lot of fun. I've been a member for a few years, and they've been so incredibly supportive and engaging as a member, educator, and content contributor. #linkedin #writing #medicalwriting
