By 2030, more than 1 billion women will be in menopause. Menopause can substantially affect a woman’s life, but a lack of awareness and care options leaves most symptoms untreated. Each woman’s experience with the menopause transition will be different. Menopause usually begins during a period where women are at the peak of their life’s activity and can affect them both at home and in the workplace -- and it is much more than JUST hot flashes. In fact, the most commonly reported and bothersome symptoms during the menopausal transition are hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and mood changes. From developing therapeutic options that address menopause symptoms to global physician education efforts, we’re actively broadening women’s options for care that help them maintain their health and quality of life through this transition. We’re excited to share that in Germany, the first patients can receive a new heart drug for "transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy," expanding the choice of treatment options for doctors and patients.   This condition is rarely diagnosed or often recognized too late. On average, patients wait over three years for a diagnosis — time that's precious and critical. Anne Effertz suffers from this rare and fatal condition. She lives just a short distance from our #TeamBayer offices. Ending hunger is central to our mission at Bayer. We recently opened our new seed production facility in Zambia, representing a 32-million-Euro investment — the second-largest investment in Zambia by a German company. This facility will equip Zambian farmers with high-quality maize seed, enabling them to produce more and improve food security for approximately 30 million people each year.
