Earlier this week, PTDO USD(A&S) Morani spoke at the annual McAleese and Associates Defense Programs Conference, emphasizing A&S' focus over the past eight weeks on strengthening the defense industrial base and growing the Department's ability to provide logistics and sustainment capability to the joint force. "We're wasting no time in moving out and taking this new direction by the President and the Secretary," he said. In addition to work underway to meet the President's request for the Golden Dome, Morani underscored the critical role of logistics in deterrence: "If a potential adversary knows that your logistics capabilities are robust ... and if you are in it for the long haul, they'll be less likely to engage in hostilities because they know that they'll not just be outgunned and outmaneuvered, but they're going to be out-supplied." 📢 Modernizing Software Acquisition for the Warfighter To maintain our competitive edge, Secretary Hegseth recently directed the Software Acquisition Pathway (SWP) as the preferred pathway for all DoD software development. This ensures faster, more adaptable solutions for the Warfighter. By leveraging the SWP alongside flexible contracting methods such as Commercial Solutions Openings (CSOs) and Other Transactions (OTs), DoD can better streamline access to cutting-edge digital solutions and maintain military superiority in an era of software-defined warfare. This approach: ✅ Accelerates software development to meet evolving warfighter needs ✅ Minimizes bureaucracy to enable rapid iteration of best-in-class capabilities ✅ Fosters stronger collaboration with innovative industry partners #RebuildingOurMilitary | Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition | Defense Innovation Unit (DIU)

#DYK: DoD and interagency partners work together to gather evidence and support presidential decision-making during nuclear attack scenarios. The United States Department of Defense recently partnered with the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in an iteration of the Prominent Hunt exercise in New York. Together these agencies make up the National Technical Nuclear Forensics Ground Collection Task Force (NTNF). “Our ability to gather post-detonation debris and perform nuclear forensics analysis is a key element of our nuclear deterrent,” said Drew Walter, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters. “Through NTNF, our senior leaders are provided a confident assessment of the responsible actor, ensuring appropriate response options.” Learn more about the Prominent Hunt exercise below!
