Here's how you can navigate discussing salary expectations in the initial job application process.
In my experience, the more senior the position, the earlier compensation expectations can be discussed. For C-Level and senior manager positions that require longer interview cycles, nobody wants to waste time in the process to discover compensation expectations are off. You need to get comfortable knowing what you are worth. I think the applicant can confidently ask the question during the first interaction. Be prepared if the answer back is “what are your expectations?” Be ready with a confident answer. If a company is looking for the low bidder and not willing to pay you what you are worth (assuming what you think you are worth is in fact accurate), then it’s not a good fit.

How can you get your team excited about your philanthropic mission?
In the private sector/corporate world ... AKA a paying job employees are committed as a minimum with their "back." That means committed for a paycheck. Some ; but fewer employees are committed with their hearts. In the philanthropic mission you have to find the right people and come up with a way to get them committed with their hearts. Praise and affirmation are critical!
