International development funders committed approximately 16 billion U.S. dollars to global projects focussed on tackling outdoor air pollution between 2018 and 2022. Transportation projects accounted for around 61 percent, or 9.6 billion U.S. dollars, of this total. These funds went to areas like investing in cleaner fuels, electric vehicles, and improving public transportation systems.
