The capacity of battery energy storage projects in the United States reached 23.8 gigawatts as of the second quarter of 2024. The California Independent System Operator (CAISO) accounted for the largest installed capacity, at almost 10 gigawatts, followed by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).
